There are two ways to go astray: immediate straying and gradual straying. Straying in terms of antidotes refers to not distinguishing between practice and abandonment, or antidotes. When, through self-awareness and self-knowing, what should be abandoned appears as an antidote, this is straying due to ignorance. Holding afflictions and practice as separate, and taking practice as the antidote to afflictions, is gradual straying. When thoughts wander or when encountering other circumstances, immediately stopping and turning to practice is the two ways of immediate straying. Straying in terms of exaggeration refers to not distinguishing between the method of practice and wisdom, believing that all phenomena abide in their own nature. This is ignorance, clinging to appearances, and exaggerating their lack of inherent existence, which is gradual straying. Not integrating practice into the path, but merely going through the motions and thinking one is practicing, or first listening and then thinking one is practicing, cutting off practice with thoughts, are the two ways of immediate straying. All of the above represent places where one can go astray in practice. Some straying can lead to falling into the lower realms, while others can turn practitioners into shameless individuals without genuine experience. Therefore, it is crucial not to stray. The wrong path is: In general, through practice, countless distinctions of experiences of bliss, clarity, and non-thought arise. In particular, for those practitioners whose channels, drops, and winds are good, and who practice diligently without being interrupted by distraction and laziness, various wonderful and indescribable types of experiences arise. If practice is mixed with other activities, deep experiences will not arise. In any case, in the experience of bliss, the body will be filled with happiness, the touch of hot and cold will also appear as happiness, one may not even feel the existence of the body, feeling happy, joyful, and excited, etc., the mind will feel happy and joyful, feeling relaxed and comfortable, even not distinguishing between day and night, various kinds of happiness will arise. In the experience of clarity, the mind will be clear, all appearances will become clear, even at night one can see objects near and far, there will be a luminous appearance, and one may even think one can know the thoughts of others, etc., various kinds of experiences will arise. In the experience of non-thought, various signs of emptiness will appear, one will develop an attachment to emptiness in everything. Appearances will become dim and without inherent existence, oneself and appearances will appear as emptiness, one will develop a definite understanding of emptiness, etc., various kinds of experiences will arise. Whether it is any of the three experiences of bliss, clarity, and non-thought, or any tendency towards an experience, it is the same. If these experiences are taken as supreme and one is bound by these experiences, then practice will become unhappy.

If you cultivate in this way, you will be born in the desire realm because of bliss, in the form realm because of clarity, and in the formless realm because of non-conceptuality. Although there is no attachment, the meditation that is entangled by experience can only accomplish the attainment of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and obtain temporary rest from the suffering of the lower realms. It is difficult to have any effect on attaining the perfect Buddha. Furthermore, if wisdom is shallow and learning is little, one will deviate from cultivating the original nature and develop expectations for meditation, as well as thick clinging, vague experiences, and a dim original nature, and thus wander in samsara. Therefore, some wrong paths may lead to the danger of being born in the lower realms, while others can only achieve the happiness of samsara. It is like wanting to go east but going west or north, which is a reversal of the meaning. There are three kinds of experiences: the experience of shamatha, the experience of vipassana, and the self-experience of realization. The latter is not considered a wrong path, and the middle one, the experience of vipassana, should also be cultivated directly without attachment, so that the experience can be purified in itself and thus play a role. However, most people who focus on experience tend to become obstacles to increasing virtuous deeds and obscure the true nature. Therefore, various methods should be used to break down experience, so that meditation can be more firm. Fourth, there are five points to refine and unleash power in the unborn: the time of refinement, cutting off thoughts and appearances, cutting off the mind of meditation and the meditator, the reality of refining in the unborn transparency, and mixing the post-meditation and pre-meditation, day and night. First, the time of refinement: When the practitioner's mind becomes clear and bright from the thick experience of bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality, and enters a state of meditation like the clear and empty sky, or when the daytime appearance is more dominant and enters the state of meditation, and when thoughts arise, they are grasped with mindfulness, and the clear and empty luminosity appears, and when the appearances of the six consciousnesses arise, they are grasped with mindfulness, and the appearance of emptiness appears, and when a definite conviction arises on thoughts and appearances, then one should refine. If one refines too early, one will not be able to generate experience, and will only generate a high-sounding view that relies on understanding. If one refines too late, most of the fortunate ones will enter the self-liberation of attachment to experience, and the state of realization will be liberated in samsara, but some will develop strong attachments to good thoughts and definite convictions, thus generating various good deeds of high and low. Second, first is the common preliminary practice, especially during Guru Yoga, with strong devotion
