Without constricting illness and winds, do not establish reliance on any key points of the mind, but rest without fixation. Let the mind rest in its own state, without grasping, without distraction. In a relaxed state, without affirmation or negation, without effort, let the six consciousnesses rest in their natural state, which is divided into nine key points. Or, rest in its original state without fixation. Without modifying with affirmation or negation, but let it be natural. Without effort or practice, but rest in relaxation, which is to be endowed with three key points. These are like: like the sky, high and vast, let appearances rest open and spacious. Like the earth, expansive, let thoughts rest vast. Like a mountain, majestic, let the mind rest without wavering. Like a lamp, bright, let awareness rest clear in emptiness. Like crystal, pure, let wisdom rest clear and uncontrived, these are five similes. Like a cloudless sky, free from obscuration and covering, rest openly and spaciously without grasping. Like a waveless ocean, unmoving, rest calmly without distraction in non-conceptuality. Like a lamp unmoved by the wind, without waxing or waning, rest clearly and naturally, this is to rest equally like three similes. Furthermore, first, relax the body and mind by abandoning effort and practice. Second, do not hesitate, but maintain the original state. Finally, it is said to determine that all arising feelings are unborn and self-liberated, and to cultivate on this basis. Relaxing the body means relaxing the effort of excessive rigidity and restraint of the body, but it does not mean abandoning all the key points of bodily posture, so the natural state of bodily posture is very important. Resting relaxed without modification means not making any purposeful affirmation or negation, nor having any preferences, but it does not mean falling into a state of non-remembering or being covered by dullness, so the naked mind should be maintained with clear awareness. Determining that arising feelings are unborn means that when the thought of self-awareness grasps, whatever appears does not become established in the essence of arising, ceasing, and abiding, but is liberated immediately, but it does not mean expanding through constant conceptualization of unborn self-liberation, so practice without grasping. If awareness is difficult to rest equally in sinking or excitement, then it is necessary to adjust each key point, and temporarily focus on one point like inserting a spear into a hole. In this way, in all post-meditation states, such as during breaks, the thought of self-awareness should be continuously maintained, thereby

With regard to the arising gateway of thoughts and appearances, whatever appears or arises, guard it without distraction. For example, like a skilled shepherd guarding livestock, even if the livestock wanders freely, there is no need to gather them, as long as they are within sight. Similarly, with regard to the appearances of thoughts and the six consciousnesses, whatever arises or appears, there is no need to suppress or reject it. Establish the mindfulness of self-awareness, allowing whatever arises to unfold naturally without grasping. Furthermore, in the four postures of activity, maintain continuous, undistracted mindfulness. Initially, the degree of distraction may be high, but gradually, spontaneously arising mindfulness will increase, and most thoughts and appearances will clearly manifest as emptiness. In any case, in the state of shamatha (calm abiding), allow any thought or appearance to arise, observe its essence, and analyze it, then guard it as before. What will happen if you diligently practice shamatha and vipassana in this way? Everything will be pervaded by the mindfulness of self-awareness, and whatever arises or appears, all thoughts and appearances will manifest as emptiness without grasping at the moment of arising and appearing. In shamatha, guard its essence with one-pointedness; in post-meditation, guard thoughts and appearances with mindfulness, and these two will become indistinguishable. Moreover, various experiences of bliss, clarity, and non-thought will also arise. If accompanied by experiences, it will obscure the true nature, so sharpen the keenness of awareness, exert yourself fully, and again and again separate awareness from the moisture of experience, thereby guarding naked awareness. Third, distinguishing obstacles, places of loss, and places of deviation:
