It is not enough to just engage in profound guidance and generate some understanding and experience, therefore, one needs a solid armor to combine life and practice. In particular, if one only understands the stages of the three types of individuals once, the yogi will fall into the net of the eight worldly concerns and become arrogant, therefore, it is important to meditate from time to time. If one feels discouraged that one cannot accomplish all the paths in this life, one should contemplate the difficulty of finding leisure and endowments and the greatness of finding them meaningful. If one is too attached to the enjoyments and phenomena of attachment and aversion in this life, one should contemplate impermanence. If one is attached to the happiness of existence and has a procrastinating mind, one should contemplate the suffering of samsara. If one has little certainty about what to accept and reject in terms of virtue and non-virtue, one should contemplate the law of cause and effect. If one has a mind of peace and tranquility alone, one should cultivate loving-kindness, compassion, and the mind of enlightenment, etc. One must know these things. Then, the special preliminaries are the root of the path, so one must definitely meditate in two or one session every day. The actual instructions are to meditate in six or four sessions each day. When awake, meditate on tummo and illusory body, and when asleep, meditate on clear light and dream yoga. If, by relying on the instructions of tummo, the winds do not enter the central channel, and the four emptinesses and four joys of abiding, remaining, and dissolving are not generated, then during the illusory body practice, one will not be able to properly enter clear light, and one will not be able to properly arise from clear light as an illusory body of wind and mind. If one cannot do that, then during the dream and clear light practices, one will not be able to take control of them through the power of the winds, and one will not be able to properly meditate on those instructions. If one cannot do that, not only will one not attain enlightenment in this life and in the bardo, but death and the bardo will become uncontrollable, and it will be difficult to meditate on the pith instructions there. Therefore, it is extremely important to establish the realization of tummo, so even when awake, one should meditate on tummo for half or a third of the session. Then, with the practice of wind control, one should meditate on the methods of causing the illusory body to enter and arise from clear light, and so on. During sleep, one should first identify the four emptinesses of sleep and try to remain in that clear light as much as possible. In any case, if a dream arises, then one should practice transforming the dream body into an illusory body, etc. The details of these methods have already been explained in their respective instructions. The instructions for the bardo are

Therefore, one should remember during session breaks and other times as desired, so as to gain firm conviction. Powa (transference of consciousness) should be practiced if one dies without having gained experience of all paths, so first one should become proficient in powa, and then it is considered sufficient to practice three times or once a month. Secondly, the method of blending this instruction is: in the waking state, relying on tummo (inner heat) and illusory body, blending view and meditation with attachment; in the sleeping state, relying on dreams and clear light, blending virtuous actions with delusion; and relying on the bardo instruction and illusory body, blending experience with hatred. These three are fundamental. Each of these three also has the blending of the three kayas: in the waking state, the four emptinesses or four joys arise as the winds dissolve into the central channel, and one remains in equanimity with clear light or co-emergence, which is the dharmakaya; from this, the wind-mind arises as the illusory body, which is the sambhogakaya; entering the gross body and transforming into the mandala of the support and supported, which is the blending of the nirmanakaya, i.e., the three blendings of the waking state. Recognizing the four emptinesses of sleep and remaining in equanimity with thick clear light as much as possible, which is the dharmakaya; from this, the dream body arises as the illusory body, which is the sambhogakaya; transforming all kinds of dream appearances into the mandala of the support and supported, which is the blending into the nirmanakaya, i.e., the three blendings of the sleeping state. Recognizing the four emptinesses of death and remaining in equanimity with the clear light of death as much as possible, which is the dharmakaya; from this, the bardo arises as the illusory body, which is the sambhogakaya; the nirmanakaya performs benefit for beings or takes birth in pure lands, etc., which is the blending of the nirmanakaya, i.e., the three blendings of death and bardo. Thus, the root blending is three-fold, or if divided, there are nine blendings. In some places, the blending instructions are divided into fifteen, i.e., three bardos, three bodies, three connections, three blendings, and three manifestations, totaling fifteen. That is, in birth, death, and bardo, relying on the body of karmic maturation, connecting with the secret empowerment and wisdom-jnana, blending virtuous actions with attachment through the tummo instruction, and manifesting the wisdom of example and meaning; in the dream bardo, relying on the body of habitual tendencies, connecting with mindfulness,
