Furthermore, from which of the three—body, speech, or mind—does this thought initially arise? Where does it reside now among these three? What are the color, shape, and so on of this thought? Upon careful examination, it does not arise from anywhere, nor does it reside anywhere. Realize that its own nature is not established anywhere, that it is unborn, and focus your mind on this. By meditating in this way, the conceptual thought of clinging to hatred dissolves into the expanse of mind itself, and hatred itself manifests as clear, giving rise to the experience of non-conceptual nature. As it says in the scriptures: 'Through the practice of these two, the non-dual wisdom will blaze forth.' Thus it is said. Therefore, all five poisons, such as desire, and other conceptual thoughts should also be combined with the unborn, the inconceivable. Third, just as a worm covers itself with its own saliva and disappears, but as soon as the saliva is wiped away, it appears naked and bare, so too, by meditating on the samadhi of liberation, one becomes bound again by that very samadhi. Therefore, that too must be combined with the unborn, the inconceivable. There are two aspects to this: abiding inwardly without mental grasping, and abiding outwardly in relaxed awareness. The first is: Rest the body and mind lightly. Turn the awareness inward and simply remember the nature of what is being looked at, without conceptualizing anything at all. Do not think about anything, but rest in a state of non-grasping. If it wanders outward, then rest again as before, and the samadhi of bliss and emptiness will arise. The second is: outwardly, no matter what appearances arise, such as forms, do not cling to them, but relax the inner sense gates, such as the eyes, without effort. When resting in this way, do not deliberately focus the meditating awareness on the object of meditation, but meditate in a way that is free from the grasping of meditation and the distraction of non-meditation. By meditating in this way, one is freed from attachment to the object of meditation, such as forms, and a supreme samadhi of bliss and emptiness, even greater than before, will arise. Up to this point, whatever of the three samadhis of the union of skillful means and wisdom arises, do not accept or reject it, nor try to alter it, but directly maintain the state that has arisen. Third, to become accustomed to it in all activities, meditate as before, so that even if attachment, aversion, and so on do not arise in equipoise, they will still arise if you encounter circumstances. Therefore, liberate yourself from the bondage of circumstances.

In order to stabilize the syllable "Ra," one should train in the limbs of stability as follows: According to the view of Drokmi ('brog mi), first, taking the training in form as an example, in a place where the eyes are not harmed by sunlight and gusts of wind, place an object such as a flower in front at a suitable distance, and look at it with a relaxed gaze. In this, the limb of not looking at anything other than that object and not changing the support; the limb of not moving the body, abandoning movement and so on; the limb of not blinking the eyes, without movement such as opening and closing the eyes; the limb of not intentionally focusing the mind on anything, without mental fixation—that is, having the four limbs, through training, one generates a samadhi that does not focus on that object. From the second day to the third day and so on, gradually lengthen the distance to the support. Finally, at a distance and so on, train by clearly establishing the support with the mind—this is recognizing wisdom from form. By analogy, one should also train in other objects such as sound, having the four limbs. Thus, by meditating for a long time with the key instruction of recognizing wisdom in objects, at first, the mind is weak, sometimes harmed by external conditions, sometimes benefited, and sometimes a mixture of benefit and harm arises, which is the time when subtle appearances arise. Having become accustomed to this, the mind is of medium strength, a time when appearances are neither beneficial nor harmful. Having become even more accustomed to this, the mind is strong, and as soon as it encounters external conditions, just as adding wood to a burning fire, conceptual thought becomes a friend to wisdom. For external conditions, there are also pleasant superior, pleasant medium, ordinary, and inferior. By analogy, one should also train in sound and so on. Thus, no matter which of the three conditions—superior, medium, or inferior—one encounters, one will generate the supreme wisdom of realizing suchness within. At this time, as soon as one encounters external appearances, one generates the supreme samadhi, which is the time when appearances provide benefit, and it is also called the time when appearances arise as a virtuous friend. Because things that are grasped as self and belonging to self appear as many from one, and many appear as one taste, it is called the time when the two are mixed from the outside. For ordinary people, the conditions that give rise to attachment and aversion, but for yogis, wisdom arises, which is also called the time of knowing the five poisons as medicine. At that time, even if one relies on the five objects of desire, one will not be defiled by faults. These are also clearly explained by the words of the scriptures. Fourth, contemplation.
