Whose three doors mature into the nature of wisdom, that is, the body appears like a rainbow but is without inherent existence, appearing in various forms in the minds of those to be tamed. Speech is indestructible, the self-sound of Nada (藏文,梵文天城体:नाद,梵文罗马拟音:nāda,汉语字面意思:sound), from which arise infinite Dharma doors in accordance with the inclinations of beings. The mind knows all knowable things, both as they are and how many there are, in an instant, that is, all are encompassed by wisdom, therefore wisdom is inconceivable. Third, the mind that measures has three aspects: skillful means, wisdom, and union. First, skillful means: when searching with a mind focused on the conventional truth, using experiential knowledge, the characteristics, qualities, abilities, and powers of knowable things all appear and exist. Wisdom: when searching with a mind focused on the ultimate truth, the emptiness of the realm of Dharma, everything that appears as cause, path, and result is empty and does not exist. When searching with a mind focused on the nature of the inseparability of skillful means and wisdom, it cannot be found no matter how much one examines and investigates whether it exists or not, therefore it is neither existent nor nonexistent, which is the inconceivable union. Fourth, the criteria for establishing certainty are three: the words of the Sugata, the valid scriptures, and the yogi's experience. First, it is in accordance with the meaning of the Three Baskets and the Four Tantras spoken by the Victorious Ones and is not distorted. Second, it is the lineage passed down from the accomplished master Ashvaghosa to the actual vajra master, without any omissions of experiential instructions. Third, the yogi himself generates experience through the three—skillful means, wisdom, and union—in meditative equipoise. By remembering that, a definite understanding of conviction arises regarding the nature of reality. These are called the "Twelve Foundations for Establishing the Basis of Instructions," which is the method for establishing the view during the causal stage. Therefore, one must first generate definite knowledge and comprehend it through the gate of thought, using both conceptualization and analysis. For yogis, there are two poisons that cause obscurations. This enables them to be separated from the poison of ignorance, which clings to phenomena and characteristics as being self-existent, due to not realizing the nature of reality. The second of the root texts: during the path stage, one must generate and purify samadhi, because ordinary conceptual thoughts constantly arise during the causal stage, and these must be classified.

The so-called "poison of torpor and sloth" is because it obscures the nature of reality. There are seven points here: First, holding the mind; in the middle, focusing on suchness; in all activities, becoming accustomed; eliminating the obstacles to meditation—lethargy and agitation; enhancing through the eight enhancements; connecting the experience of the mind with the signs of warmth; and finally, connecting with the result through the practice that relies on mudras. The first point is the preliminary practices of meditation: Residing alone in a secluded place. When old, the seasons are autumn and spring, suffering from blood and bile diseases, in warm and hot seasons, take a comfortable posture or the vajra posture, and perform the hand gesture of meditative equipoise. When young, the season is winter, suffering from cold diseases and excess phlegm, in a cold place, squat and perform the hearth mudra, placing it in the six-series hearth. For both of these, the head is slightly lowered, the eyes are focused on the tip of the nose, the tongue touches the palate, the teeth and lips are naturally closed, and the body posture is adjusted. Vigorously exhale three times, adjusting the speech posture. Without any thoughts, relax and slightly maintain the natural state, adjusting the mind posture. Then, in order to practice the Mahayana path, cultivate the mind of enlightenment: For the benefit of all sentient beings, I will attain Buddhahood. For this purpose, I will practice the stages of meditative absorption. In order to perfect the accumulations, visualize the guru: Above the lotus, moon, and sun on the crown of the head, visualize the root guru in the form of Vajradhara, and generate intense devotion. Recite the lineage prayer composed by Ngorchen, or pray to the kind root guru. Please cause special meditative absorption to arise in my being. Pray repeatedly from the depths of your heart like this. Finally, due to the force of intense devotion, the guru dissolves into light, visualize it dissolving from your crown into your heart. In order to abandon ordinary thoughts and prevent obstacles from arising, recite "Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हूँ,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:种子字)", in the protective wheel, visualize yourself as the essence of the yidam deity, in the form of the letter "Hūṃ," and focus on it. Thus, these six branches of meditation are the preliminaries to everything. The main practice is the meditation of the union of non-duality and space, first learning the external space in the manner of an example.
