Movement is also not a Pudgala. The body's cavities and other orifices are also not a Pudgala. All consciousnesses, such as eye consciousness, are also not self, and I am not them. They are also not a collection, and I am not a collection of them. Even if there is something different from them, because there is no Pudgala that appears to the mind as the meditator thinks of a Pudgala. The Sutra also says: Form is not self, feeling is not self, perception is not self, formation is not self, consciousness is not self. Therefore, the five aggregates, the six elements each, the collection, and the shape of the collection, etc., of the meditator's Pudgala are not the meditator's Pudgala. If they were, then the basis of imputation and the imputed, the object to be taken and the taker, the limb and the one with limbs would become one. If the aggregates were self, then because of the many, those selves would also become many, and so on, would be faults. In particular, if consciousness were a Pudgala, then it would be unreasonable for a Pudgala to be sick, speak, see, give birth, etc. One Pudgala would also become six Pudgalas like the six consciousnesses. Or, like one Pudgala, the six consciousnesses would become an indivisible one. If the shape of their collection is a Pudgala, then it would become form, so there would be no Pudgala in the formless realm. There is also no Pudgala other than the five aggregates, because the unrelated other that is established by nature is different from the aggregates and will not possess the characteristic of the aggregates being compounded. If it is different from the aggregates, then there will be no characteristic of the aggregates. The Sutra says so. The Elephant Strength Sutra also says: If phenomena had self-nature, then the Buddha and the Shravakas would know it. Real phenomena would not pass into Nirvana, and the wise would never be separated from elaboration. There would also be the fault of what is said. Therefore, in the state of equipoise, examine with subtle wisdom. In our own view, the Pudgala who abides in equipoise, or the self, or the person, is completely empty without even a particle. After clarifying the meaning of such emptiness in the mind, do not attend to any other elaborations.

If one does not focus single-pointedly on the negation of inherent existence and emptiness, and if the grasping of it is slightly weakened, then, as after emerging from meditative equipoise, examine it as before, and meditate single-pointedly. This is a way of cultivating similar to meditative equipoise. Initially, once that is ascertained, if one is not accustomed to the view from before, fear will arise; if one is accustomed to it, joy will arise in the mind. Afterwards, explaining the distinctions of subsequent attainment, it is said, "Because a being is an aggregation of six elements, it is not truly existent." Having arisen from that meditative equipoise and examined, although there is no being who appears wrongly due to being seized by the demon of ignorance of one's own consciousness, nevertheless, a being, or a person, or just an "I," certainly exists. The way it exists is like establishing a person on a stake, or grasping the patterns of a rope as a snake. The so-called being is merely a name imputed to the aggregation of one's own six elements or five aggregates, merely a designation, merely a conceptual imputation, not truly existent, like an illusion, merely the arising of emptiness as dependent origination. Having generated certainty about this, meditate, and remember it with the voice of the profound sutras. As it says in the King of Samadhi Sutra: Magicians conjure up forms, Horses, elephants, and various chariots. For those appearances, nothing exists, All phenomena, know them to be like that. Like a young girl in a dream, Sees a son born and then die. She rejoices at the birth and is unhappy at the death, All phenomena, know them to be like that. Like the moon in the water at night, Appears in clear and unpolluted water. The moon in the water is empty, illusory, and cannot be grasped, All phenomena, know them to be like that. Like the sun at midday in summer, A person tormented by thirst, traveling, Sees mirages as a collection of water. All phenomena, know them to be like that. In mirages, there is actually no water, Foolish beings want to drink it, False water cannot be drunk. All phenomena, know them to be like that. Like a wet tree, Even if a person cuts it down wanting the heartwood, There is no heartwood inside or outside. All phenomena, know them to be like that. And so forth. Therefore, one must continuously practice the selflessness of the person who is included within one's own continuum.
