It is also like that. Like this, the previous Samatha meditation, in the state of Samadhi of single-pointed concentration, without moving even a little, like in a lake filled with clear water, the water does not move, and small fish swim back and forth. From the state of Samadhi, with a subtle wisdom, examine how the nature, i.e., the state and the way of grasping, of the individual, or the self, or the essence, of the meditator of Samadhi exists, with subtle and skillful, i.e., discriminating and careful wisdom. After examining in that way, the state is: the individual, the self, and sentient beings, etc., all phenomena are merely names, merely imputed by conceptual thought, like a snake or a weasel on a colorful rope, or a person imputed on a wooden post. As the Sutra says: How the city of Gandharvas appears, that city does not exist in all ten directions. That city is merely a name, and the Tathagata sees beings in that way. It is like how the Tathagata sees. Therefore, if we are not mistaken, all phenomena should appear as merely names imputed to exist. If they do not appear in that way, we are deluded by the demon of ignorance, and the state appears wrongly and we cling to it, thereby accumulating karma. Due to the power of that karma, we wander in Samsara and experience various sufferings. Now, if we explain it with the Ornament of the Essential Meaning, such a way of appearing and clinging is called the way of appearing of what is to be refuted, or the way of appearing as truly established, and the way of grasping or clinging as truly established. Therefore, for us ordinary beings, there is no other way of appearing of what is to be refuted that is established by reason other than the way of appearing that is currently appearing. Because all the consciousnesses in the continuum of ordinary beings are defiled by ignorance, whatever object appears, it appears as truly existent. Therefore, like this, relying on the certainty that individuals and phenomena are merely imputed to exist, one will be able to ascertain the way of grasping of the co-emergent self-grasping, which is the root of Samsara, as it is. Relying on such realization, one will be able to completely ascertain the way of grasping of subtle things to be refuted. Therefore, Je Tsongkhapa also said: All phenomena are taught to be imputed to exist, and the way of identifying what is to be refuted is the opposite of that. He said a lot. Regarding these principles, even in the writings of some who claim to be famous scholars and guides of many beings, there is no certainty.

Although there is not, only those holy ones who make practice the core are more understanding. As the wise Norzang Gyatso said: However, Losang Rinchen Wangpo, with his followers, a multitude of stars boasting of their cleverness, with terms such as self-character, self-nature, establishment, and truth, the objects to be refuted bound by words, established by their own thoughts, the meaning refuted by reason, they consider it to be the great meaning of the Middle Way free from extremes. Like dream images and illusory horses and cattle, except for appearing in one's own consciousness, just as there is not the slightest existence apart from that, from the peak of existence to hell, all sentient beings, each and every one of them, except for what is merely imputed by their own thoughts, if the subtle object to be refuted of existence is not refuted, then no matter how much one examines, one will not surpass superficial views, I think. Thus he said. After examining in this way, if beings such as those appearing in the mind of a person or a pudgala or "I" exist, then they must necessarily exist truly. However, beings appearing in that way do not exist, because the body and mind of a being are not each a being, the aggregation of body and mind is not a being, each of the six elements is not a being, and merely the aggregation of the six elements is not a being, and there is no being other than the six elements. To explain this, the supreme protector, the lord Nagarjuna himself said: A being is not earth, not water, not fire, not wind, not space, not consciousness, not all, other than that, what is a being? Thus he said. In accordance with this, the Bodhicharyavatara also says: Teeth, hair, nails are not self, I am not bones, blood, not snot, phlegm, nor serum and pus, I am not fat and dust, neither are lungs and liver me, the intestines are not me, I am not the outer feces and urine, heat and wind are not me, not pores, in all ways, the six consciousnesses are not me. Thus, a being or self or "I", that is, the earth element of one's own body, the hard parts such as bones are not me, the water element, the moist parts such as blood are not self, from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet, the fire element, the part of heat is not self, the wind element of the body, the light and subtle flowing in the veins
