The hammer that destroys misfortune. Praises such as it becoming the gateway to accomplishing all virtues at once. In short, the time to accomplish the purpose of life is only this moment of obtaining a special support. Most of us stay in the lower realms, and even if we occasionally come to the higher realms, we are mostly in a state of no leisure, so we do not find the opportunity to practice Dharma there. Even when we are fortunate enough to find a support that is sufficient for practice, we do not practice the Dharma properly because we still think that we will not die. Therefore, clinging to the idea that we will not die is the gateway to all downfalls, and remembering death is the gateway to all perfections. Therefore, those who think that there is no other profound Dharma to meditate on besides this, and those who think that even if they are to meditate, they should not start by meditating a little and then continue to practice, should not think that way, but should think that it is needed from beginning to end, and that it must be generated from the bottom of their hearts and meditated upon. It is said. Second, the way to reverse the appearance of the future life is: If you repeatedly think about the infallibility of karma and the sufferings of samsara, you can reverse the appearance of the future life. It is said. For example, just as the sprouts of barley, rice, wheat, beans, etc., which are planted with different seeds, also grow separately without mixing. The fruits of white and black karma also produce happiness and suffering separately without mixing, and when they meet with conditions, they will appear, so they are infallible. In short, karma is certain, increases greatly, what has not been done will not be encountered, and what has been done will not be wasted. And the hundred and six sufferings, the general sufferings of samsara and the particular sufferings, if the mind is focused on this, and repeatedly and thoroughly thought about, then the appearance of previously pursuing the wealth of gods and humans in the future will change direction, and a strong intention to pursue liberation will arise. This is what is called reversing the appearance of the future life. Here there are two types of thinking: thinking about the results of karma and thinking about the faults of samsara. The first one, the ten paths of action are explained: killing, not giving, and sexual misconduct are the three actions of the body; lying, slander, harsh words, and idle talk are the four actions of speech; greed, malice, and wrong views are the three actions of the mind. These ten together are the ten black karmas. The opposite of this is the ten white paths of action, which include all virtuous and non-virtuous actions. Among them, karma is certain: from black and white seeds,

Just as black and white appear without confusion, if one engages in non-virtuous actions, it is certain that only the result of suffering will arise; if one engages in virtuous actions, it is certain that the result of happiness will arise. As it is said in the Sutra Requested by the Noble Des, "With seeds that are acrid, fruits that are acrid will arise. With seeds that are sweet, fruits that are sweet will arise. By this example, the wise should know that the ripening of evil is acrid, and the fruit of white [deeds] is sweet." The increase of karma is great, meaning that no matter how great or small a sinful action is, if it is not corrected by remedies such as confession, it will increase daily, and if one rejoices in it, it will increase even more. Similarly, if virtuous actions are not exhausted by boasting and regret, they will increase in the same way, and if they are augmented by dedication, they will increase even more than that. Therefore, from the perspective of the cause, even if the time of karma is short, the fruit will ripen greatly. As it is said in the Compendium, "Even by doing a small sin, the next world becomes a great fear. It will cause great harm, like poison that has entered the body. Even by doing a small merit, the next world leads to great happiness. It will also accomplish great purposes, like grains ripening in abundance." As it is said in the sutra. The karma that has not been done will not be encountered, meaning that whatever karma one has done, whether good or bad, whether great or small, the happiness or suffering of its result will not be confused, and it is impossible to encounter karma that has not been done. As it is said in the sutra, "The ripening of the karma done by the God-given himself does not ripen in the external realm of earth, etc., but ripens in the aggregates, etc., that are grasped by himself." This can be taken as an example. Karma is not wasted, meaning that as it is said in the sutra, "The karmas of sentient beings are not wasted even for hundreds of kalpas. When they are gathered and the time has come, they will ripen as fruit." That is to say, the black and white karmas accumulated by sentient beings will never disappear, and even if a long time has passed, like seeds in dry land encountering moisture, whatever karma it is, once it is nourished, the fruit of happiness or suffering will ripen. If one understands this from the stories that appear in the Sutras and Vinaya, one will gain certainty. Therefore, first contemplate the result of black karma, then contemplate the white karma.
