Therefore, this is indeed very important. The main point of this virtuous practice is to become accustomed to the instantaneous arising of a deity's illusory form, which is merely wind and mind, from the empty luminosity of sleep. Thus, it is taught that in order for the bardo arising from the luminosity of death, which is merely wind and mind, to transform into an illusory body. Third, regarding the yoga of the illusory conventional body, there are the key points of the object of meditation and the recognition. The first point is divided into two: training the impure illusory body as illusion, and training the pure illusory body as illusion. First, place a spotless mirror in front of yourself, no smaller than a 'gyao ra'. It is said that a clear water vessel should also be placed between the mirror and yourself, so that even the pores of the hair are clearly visible. Then, fix your eyes and mind for a long time on your own reflection appearing in the mirror. Merge it with your own body. Merge the experience that arises with your own body, and meditate on it as inseparable. If the experience of illusion matures, first contemplate making various praises and criticisms of the reflection in the mirror. If there is no attachment or aversion to it, then transfer it to yourself. If there is neither liking nor disliking for that either, maintaining equanimity, then actually practice discipline in the midst of many people, etc. If attachment and aversion do not arise even to that, and the attitude remains even, then it is mature. Second, the mirror, water vessel, etc., are as before. Place an image of the yidam, hand implements, etc., reversed left and right, behind yourself, so that the reflection appears in the mirror. Fix your eyes and mind on it, generate certainty about the illusion that appears but is not truly established, and meditate for a long time. If the mind can settle on that, then contemplate the deity image as being between yourself and the mirror, and train in illusion. Having become accustomed to it, merge it with your own body, and contemplate your own body, the deity image, appearance and emptiness as illusion, like a reflection. In this way, three special signs of maturity will appear: the color of the body appears like a rainbow in the sky, appearing but without inherent existence; the ornaments and attire appear like a reflection on the surface of a mirror, clear and unmixed; the manner of appearance appears like the moon appearing in water, pervading all places. Having matured in this way, merge all appearances into it, and meditate until it has not matured. The second is: From the Five Stages: 'By the reflection in the mirror, the illusory body is known.'

The colors are like a rainbow, pervasive like the moon in water. Thus, from the moment of appearance, it is the clear appearance of emptiness, which is called the illusory body. When it is taken as a path, all phenomena of samsara and nirvana appear as the nature of illusion, which is the illusory body of words and meanings, established by hearing. Training the appearance of objects and the ordinary body, speech, and mind into illusion is the impure illusory body common with the Paramitas. Meditating on these as an illusory deity body is the pure illusory body unique to Vajrayana. By meditating on these general illusory bodies, through experience, one can eventually naturally arise as a deity body made of wind and mind alone. Connecting with the hidden meaning illusory body, the channels, winds, and bindus are purified without obscurations, and the rainbow body, the illusory body, becomes the cause of the union of learning. The wisdom of co-emergent luminosity purifies karmic afflictions from the root, and attaining the stainless illusory Sambhogakaya becomes the result of the union of non-learning, which is the ultimate illusory body. Fourth, the yoga of ultimate luminosity is divided into two: the main practice and the incidental. The first is further divided into the meaning of meditation and recognition. The first is further divided into holding the sphere and subsequent dissolution. First, training in the luminosity of holding the sphere: visualize yourself clearly as the deity, and the rays of light from the HUM (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) at your heart fill your entire body. The deity body itself gathers from top to bottom and from bottom to top, dissolving into the HUM (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) at your heart. Then, the foot curve dissolves into the HA, the HA dissolves into the head, the head dissolves into the crescent moon, the crescent moon dissolves into the bindu, and that is gathered into an extremely subtle point, and the mind dwells there for a long time. Finally, imagine that it also disappears, and rest in the non-conceptual luminosity as it is, and practice repeatedly in this way. Secondly, the deity body is clear as before. All the outer and inner contents dissolve into light at once, like a mirror wiped with breath, and you also gather into the HUM (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), etc., as before. Abandon the causes of not realizing luminosity, accomplish the causes of realizing luminosity, and meditate repeatedly in this way. Especially, meditate diligently before going to sleep, and you will realize either subtle or thick luminosity, and gradually become more stable. Secondly, in the Uttaratantra, it says: "What is the nature of the mind, luminosity? It is unchanging like the sky."
