The necessity of all minor Dharmas lies solely in subduing self-grasping. Therefore, while practicing Dharma, training the mind, and meditating, one must gradually diminish the cherishing of self. If it does not become an antidote to self-grasping, then all the Dharma practiced becomes meaningless. The root of whether Dharma becomes Dharma lies in this. It is said that this is the scale for measuring practitioners. Hold the main one of the two witnesses. This means that others seeing a practitioner as qualified is also a witness, but one's own mind is hidden and cannot be understood by ordinary people. Even occasional good behavior may be satisfying. If one can always act without being ashamed of one's own mind, that is a sign of mind training having succeeded. Therefore, without clinging to the witness of others, hold the witness of one's own mind as primary. Always rely on the sole joy. This means that no matter what misfortune or suffering occurs, never generate fear, panic, or discouragement, but transform it into a friend of mind training and always associate with the sole joy, which is the measure of mind training having succeeded. No matter what misfortune occurs, cultivate joy towards it, and learn to joyfully accept all misfortunes of others on top of that. If one can overcome even when distracted, that is success. This means that, for example, just as a skilled rider does not fall from the horse even when distracted, when a sudden misfortune occurs, even if one does not hold it with special focus and mindfulness, if that misfortune itself can become a friend of mind training, that is success. On top of whatever appears, whether it is enemy, friend, harm-doer, happiness, or suffering, may the two aspects of Bodhicitta arise effortlessly and vividly. These four are signs that Bodhicitta training has succeeded and reached the essential point. But this does not mean that one does not need to train further, but that one must learn to progress until one attains Buddhahood. Sixth, the vows of mind training are: Always train in the three common points. It is said that the three common points are: not contradicting the commitment of mind training, that is, from the Pratimoksha vows, Bodhisattva vows, to the Mantrayana vows, not staining the vows that one has taken with the defilement of transgressions and downfalls, and not losing even the subtle points. Not losing the scattered things, that is, in order to make others think that one has no self-grasping, abandoning actions such as destroying Buddha statues, cutting down sacred trees, disturbing sacred waters, associating with lepers and beggars, and maintaining a pure liberation.

Do not fall into bias, that is, being able to tolerate harm from humans but not from gods and demons, or vice versa, being able to tolerate relatives but not enemies, being able to tolerate those but not suffering from illnesses, etc., being able to tolerate all those but forgetting the Dharma in happiness, etc. Abandoning bias in mind training is a vow, so it should be practiced constantly. Transform intention, maintain original state. It means that the intention of cherishing oneself and not cherishing others should be reversed, and only cherishing others should be maintained. All mind training should be small in appearance but large in actual effect. The external practice should be the same as other virtuous friends, maintaining one's original state, and maturing one's own continuum without others noticing. Do not speak of impaired limbs. It means that one should not speak of others' worldly shortcomings, such as blindness, foolishness, etc., and shortcomings of the Dharma, such as broken vows, etc., which are unpleasant words, but should speak pleasant and agreeable words with a peaceful smile. Do not think of any faults of others. It means that one should not think of any faults of other sentient beings, especially those who have entered the Dharma, seeing faults is because my own appearance is impure, they do not have such faults, one should think like some people even think the Buddha has faults, and punish one's own faulty thoughts. First subdue the strongest affliction. It means that one should observe which affliction is strongest in one's own continuum, and first concentrate all the Dharma on that affliction, and subdue and purify it. Abandon all expectations of results. It means that after practicing mind training, expecting to subdue gods and demons, or expecting others to think well of oneself, applying benefits in a harmful way, etc., are all disguises and should be abandoned. In short, one should abandon all expectations of results that are for one's own sake, such as the happiness and fame of this life, the happiness of gods and humans in the next life, and one's own attainment of liberation. Abandon poisonous food. It means that all virtuous deeds caused by the clinging to the reality of things and the self-cherishing, are like poisonous food and should be abandoned, and one should practice non-clinging like illusion. Do not rely on good people. It means that, for example, a good person in the world will not forget people related to oneself no matter how much time and place has passed.
