Ah la la! This spreader of harm, this must be an emanation of a lama or a Buddha. Because he urged me to train my mind in bodhicitta, I am very grateful. Also, if sickness and suffering occur, if this did not happen, I would be distracted by the affairs of this life and would not remember the Dharma. Because this makes me remember the Dharma, it is the activity of the lama and the Three Jewels, I am deeply grateful from the bottom of my heart. In short, whoever has the thought and intention to accomplish their own benefit is a worldly householder. Whoever has the thought and intention to accomplish the benefit of others is a Dharma practitioner. Therefore, Lingre Thangpa said: No matter how profound a Dharma I open and look at, all the faults are my own, and all the qualities are those of Jowo Sentient Being (referring to Atisha). The key to this is to give profit and victory to others, and to take loss and failure upon oneself. There is nothing to understand other than this. The second is: Viewing illusory appearances as the four kayas, protecting emptiness is unsurpassed. It is said that, in general, all appearances, and especially bad circumstances, are like being burned by fire or carried away by water in a dream, and being distressed. It is the appearance of delusion in one's own mind, grasping what is untrue as true. Although it appears, it is determined that there is not even a particle of truth to it. Just the appearance is left in a state of non-grasping. The essence is the empty Dharmakaya, the form is the clear Nirmanakaya, the union of these two is the Sambhogakaya, these inseparable Svabhavikakaya, are placed equally in a state free from the recognition of arising, ceasing, and abiding. This is the instruction for introducing the four kayas, the armor of view, the protective wheel of emptiness, and the unsurpassed instruction for cutting off delusion. The third is: Having the four practices is the best of methods. It is said that having the four practices of accumulating merit, confessing sins, giving torma to gods and demons, and offering torma to dakinis and Dharma protectors, is the best of all methods for turning bad circumstances into the path. The first of these is: I want happiness, but only suffering comes. Here, abandon the sins that are the cause of suffering, and the accumulations that are the cause of happiness, etc., seem to be a sign of breaking, so think like that. Offerings to the lama and the Three Jewels, reverence to the Sangha, torma to the bhutas, butter lamps, etc.

Make tsha-tshas, circumambulate, and so forth, accumulate the accumulations of body, speech, and mind as much as possible. Take refuge and generate bodhicitta. In particular, exert yourself in the seven-branch practice and the mandala offering. If it is good for me to be sick, please bless me to be sick. If it is good for me to recover, please bless me to recover. If it is good for me to die, please bless me to die. Pray like this to prevent hope and fear. Second, keep the intention as before. Generate the power of utterly refuting regret for the sins committed in the past. Generate the power of turning away from evil, thinking that you will not do it even if your life is at stake in the future. Generate the power of reliance by taking refuge in the Three Jewels and generating bodhicitta. Meditate on emptiness and recite special dharani mantras, etc. Exert yourself in the six doors of antidotes and make prayers to prevent hope and fear. Make these four powers of applying all antidotes reach their limit. Third, give torma to the harm-doers. You have gone to collect my debts from the past and taken the loans, so thank you very much. Please continue to destroy me now! May all the suffering, displeasure, sickness, disasters, and fears of all sentient beings ripen on me! May all sentient beings be free from suffering! Entrust the activity like this. If you cannot do that, give torma. Meditate on loving-kindness, compassion, and giving and taking. I will do whatever is beneficial to you in the short and long term. Please do not obstruct my Dharma! Command like this. Fourth, offer torma to the Dharma protectors. Entrust the activity of pacifying the obstacles to Dharma practice and accomplishing favorable conditions. In particular, make the above-mentioned prayers to prevent hope and fear. In order to transform sudden circumstances into the path, apply whatever you encounter immediately to meditation. Therefore, if you suddenly experience sickness, evil spirits, afflictions, etc., or if you see something that others dislike and cherish, think that you will only practice giving and taking. For all your good intentions and actions, such as virtuous deeds, think, "May all sentient beings naturally enter into Dharma activities that are even more excellent than this." Apply it in the same way when happiness and joy arise. If bad thoughts arise, or if you have to engage in bad deeds involuntarily, think, "May all the bad thoughts or bad deeds of all sentient beings be concentrated on this one of mine."
