Therefore, the teaching tradition of the Kadampa Six Treatises was passed down to the Gelug school. The transmission of the Four Noble Truths as pith instructions was passed down to the Dagpo Kagyu school. The tradition of the Sixteen Bindus of Secret Instructions is considered to be maintained by both. Thus, the Kadampa, renowned as the possessor of the doctrine endowed with the seven divine dharmas, this precious Kagyu lineage—adorned in body by the four deities, in speech by the three pitakas, and in mind by the three trainings—contains an infinite number of pith instructions, both of the sutra system itself and slightly related to tantra, all of which point to the path of the union of emptiness and compassion. However, mainly because of the transmission of relative bodhicitta, most of the lineage holders have emphasized the pith instructions and biographies of exchanging self and others. Among these, there are many different styles of guidance. This Seven Points Training comes from the oral tradition of the pith instructions of Gyacha Kawa Chenpo Yeshe Dorje. Secondly: Not to mention that the happiness and results of gods and humans in the higher realms are meaningless, even if one attains the enlightenment of a Hearer or Solitary Realizer, it is not ultimate nirvana. Therefore, one should strive only for the state of perfect and complete enlightenment. To attain this, there is no other method to rely on than cultivating loving-kindness and compassion, which is relative bodhicitta, and abiding in equanimity in a state free from elaboration and non-conceptualization, which is ultimate bodhicitta. As the noble Nagarjuna said: 'If oneself and this world wish to attain unsurpassed enlightenment, the root of that is bodhicitta, as stable as the king of mountains, and compassion that extends to all directions, and wisdom that does not rely on the two.' Therefore, the accumulations of merit and wisdom, only when endowed with bodhicitta, become the root of the Great Vehicle, such as the perfections that transcend the peace of both existence and quiescence. Moreover, it arises dependent on loving-kindness and compassion, and when one ultimately attains Buddhahood, one does nothing other than accomplish the benefit of others solely through objectless compassion. The actual ultimate bodhicitta does not arise in the mindstream of a beginner, but if one cultivates relative bodhicitta, it will definitely arise, and once it arises, ultimate bodhicitta will be realized spontaneously.

And in many other ways, one must first diligently cultivate the meaning and result of generating Bodhicitta, which is the relative Bodhicitta. The key to its practice, the root of the method of taming with aspiration, is as stated by the master Shantideva: "Whoever wishes to quickly protect themselves and others should practice the secret and supreme method of exchanging self and others." As stated, this is the only meditation sequence of exchanging self and others that will be explained below. Other mind-training sequences are also branches derived from this. The third part is divided into two points: explaining the actual teaching of the text, and supplementing it with the instructions of the lineage. The first part is divided into seven points: relying on the preliminary support Dharma, cultivating the actual Bodhicitta, transforming adverse conditions into the path of Bodhi, condensing the practice of one lifetime and practicing it, the measure of mind training accomplished, the vows of mind training, and the precepts of mind training. The first point is: First, one must learn the preliminaries. As stated, this is further divided into two: the preliminary of a session and the preliminary of guidance. First, at the beginning of each session, one should visualize on the lotus and moon seat above one's head, the root guru with a smiling face, a majestic body, and a mind of impartial compassion, dwelling with compassion for sentient beings. Visualize as the embodiment of the root and lineage gurus. With sincere devotion, one can also recite the lineage supplication if one wishes. In particular, supplicate the true and complete guru, the great master of all virtuous friends, to bless me, and to cause the special mind of loving-kindness and compassion to arise in my mindstream. After supplicating in this way hundreds and thousands of times, visualize the guru descending from the Brahma aperture at the crown of one's head and dwelling in the lotus in one's heart, which is like a tent of light with its opening facing upwards, and generate sincere devotion. This is the guru yoga, which is very important at the beginning of each practice. Second, the four thoughts of leisure and endowment being difficult to find, death being impermanent, the faults of samsara, and the law of karma, if it is a new guidance, should be explained extensively like the stages of the path, and one must definitely generate them in one's mindstream. If one prefers a concise meditation essence, then in order to obtain the basis for practice, this precious human body with leisure and endowment, one must accumulate perfect merit.
