May the Bodhicitta arise in my mind-stream! May I not forget, and may I not fall into the four places of loss. May the common merit of sentient beings also be like that. The four decisive resolutions for practicing the Mahayana Bodhicitta are: Cut off one path, unify one aspiration, destroy augmentation, and apply antidotes to strike. Cutting off one path means not counting the stages of the path. The stronger the self-grasping, the more suffering. If you abandon it today, you will become a Buddha today. If you abandon it tomorrow, you will become a Buddha tomorrow. If you do not abandon it, you cannot become a Buddha. If you abandon it, whenever you abandon it, you will become a Buddha. Unifying one aspiration means that whatever actions you do, whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, you only think about how to abandon self-grasping and how to benefit sentient beings. Do not have many other aspirations. Destroying augmentation means that some people say to abandon conceptual thoughts. It is not necessary to abandon conceptual thoughts, but to transform them into the path, as they are the material of the Dharmakaya. Because afflictions initially arise very small, they must be destroyed immediately. If you do not destroy them, they will grow large and cannot be abandoned. When afflictions initially arise, merely relying on the antidote can stop them. Do not ask what 'Alo O' did and cannot abandon them. If a conceptual thought arises, observe from where it arises, where it dwells, and where it ceases. Through observation, recognize that it has no inherent existence, just like meeting a previously familiar person, recognize that it has no inherent existence, and thus transform it into the path. Also, like snow falling on a stone, release it into emptiness. Applying antidotes to strike means that when afflictions arise, immediately use any beneficial antidote, practicing like hammering a pig's head with a hammer. There are three ways to apply antidotes when practicing the Mahayana Bodhicitta: Creating from nothing, striking head-on, and pursuing relentlessly. The first is, for example, how Mongolians tame tigers. Initially, they learn methods to tame tigers, so when a tiger appears, there will be someone who can tame it. If you have not learned before, you cannot tame it and will be controlled by it. Similarly, for afflictions such as desire, whichever is strongest, simulate that affliction appearing, then turn it around and send it back. Do not leave the mind in an unspecified state, but naturally practice Bodhicitta, thus counteracting afflictions.

When it arises, by blocking it with an antidote, one will not be controlled by afflictions. Likewise, if one has not trained, one will not be able to block it with an antidote and will be controlled by afflictions, it is said. One should strike head-on, not like two old people being robbed by thieves. Similarly, these afflictions do not arise big from the beginning. From the beginning, as soon as a small affliction arises, ask "Who are you?", and then immediately counterattack and drive it away, so that one will not be controlled by afflictions. It arises by blocking it with an antidote. If one does not counterattack at that time, the affliction will become bigger and bigger, and then the antidote itself will not be able to block it, so as soon as an affliction arises, one should counterattack and drive it away like hitting a pig's head with a set of mallets. The so-called "subsequent investigation" is to investigate the matter after one has been controlled by afflictions. Thinking, "Alas, a useless person like you would actually do such a thing, how pathetic!" This is to conduct a subsequent investigation. Or, when an affliction arises, think, "Alas, it is because of this that you wander in samsara. Are you still going to do this now?" Counterattack and drive it away like this, it is said. The preliminary practice is "creating something from nothing." The main practice is "striking head-on." The conclusion is "subsequent investigation," it is said. The "expelling disease" of mind training is the three of "accumulating," "arising," and "purifying," it is said. "Accumulating" means that when one is sick, one thinks that there are countless diseases in the world, may they all ripen on me immediately, and may all suffering be completely ceased. Meditating like this is to accumulate the suffering of sentient beings on oneself. "Arising" means to meditate on an empty hole in the place where one is sick, and it becomes bigger and bigger, and finally merges into emptiness, and then abide in this state, it is said. "Purifying" means to meditate on a white "Ah" (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: Ah) in the place where one is sick. It becomes smaller and smaller, and finally disappears, merging into no-self-nature, and then abide in this state, it is said. The four thoughts of the Great Vehicle mind training are: the suppression of happiness, the ending of suffering, a lonely companion when alone, and a caretaker when sick, it is said. Therefore, if there is no such Dharma, do not pretend to be happy. Because one is tired of samsara and wants to do good, one should know that the nature of samsara is suffering, and the idea that it is happiness is wrong.
