Also, one should contemplate with the thought that they are as kind as a spiritual teacher. When one knows how to train the mind in this way, all actions of body, speech, and mind, and everything that becomes an object of the senses, will be transformed into the two accumulations, so from this, Dharma that is not wasted will arise. It is said that the beginning of three countless eons is reckoned from this point. Therefore, this shows the training of the special thought, the two bodhicittas. The special training is to transform bad circumstances into the path of enlightenment by striving in both accumulation and purification. The fourfold application is the supreme method, as it shows. When suffering arises, the aim of wanting happiness is lost. At that time, one should think that it has become a condition that leads and encourages in this way. The first application is accumulating merit: If you want happiness free from suffering, then cultivate faith and respect for the lama and the Three Jewels, the source of all happiness. Think that it has become the spur for the sole accumulation of merit, make offerings to the Three Jewels, serve and respect the Sangha, make torma to the spirits, give generously to beings, and pray to stop hope and fear. Offer mandalas and offerings to the lama and the Three Jewels, cultivate faith and respect, take refuge and generate bodhicitta, and pray, saying, "Since I do not know, please accomplish it well!" Pray with joy and longing, saying: If it is good to be sick, pray to be sick; if it is good to recover, pray to recover; if it is good to die, pray to die; if it is good to live long, pray to live long; if it is good to have a short life, may it be short! May all beings have the good fortune of enlightenment! This is what should be done. The second application is purifying sins: Again, if you do not want this suffering, then think that it has become the spur to abandon the cause of suffering, which is sin. Strive to purify sins through the four powers. Also, perform the extensive rituals of confession and repentance before the Three Jewels. The third application is making offerings to the spirits and giving torma to the harm-doers, and those who are able to understand should do it in this way: Summon the harm-doer to the front, visualize them as a deity, and think, "You have directed me to the two bodhicittas. You have helped me accomplish happiness and eliminate suffering, so thank you very much! Now, please place all the suffering of sentient beings on this disease of mine."

Please cause it to ripen. Please do not go elsewhere, but remain in this body of mine, and purify it here for a long time until this disease is cured. It should be said like this. Letting go of physical and mental comfort, completely cut off hopes, doubts, and thoughts of desiring happiness, and abide in that state. From the depths of your heart, do not feel discouraged, but generate a special joy in pursuing meaning. If you cannot do that, then meditate on the specially entrusted love and compassion. Because you obstruct me from accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings, you will be born in hell in the next life. I will benefit you with wealth and Dharma, do not harm me, leave here, and speak the truth. If you think of it as a harmer, it is like placing an evil person on the throne of a king, unable to prevent the harm, and that is also one method. The fourth method is to offer torma to the Dharma protectors, and pray that they do not obstruct the practice. Please remember the promises and vows made in the presence of the Buddhas. Thus, offer to the gods and lamas, and pray, purify sins, offer to the spirits, offer to the Dharma protectors, and diligently study these four dharmas. This has explained the main practice of transforming adverse conditions into the path, and now explains the yoga in between sessions, which is: "Whatever arises immediately, combine with meditation." When adverse conditions suddenly occur, immediately train in bodhicitta. For example, leprosy, boils, beatings, robbery of wealth, sword wounds, lack of favorable conditions, etc. In short, if harm from non-humans and unbearable intense suffering occur, think that there are countless similar situations in the world, and generate compassion. Then, mentally take on all of these sufferings completely, and visualize it as more intense than before, as if the heart is bursting. Be shocked by this, and think that the harmer has helped me train in bodhicitta and practice patience, is my lama, and is very kind. When you see others suffering these sufferings, you should also immediately visualize taking them on yourself. Furthermore, when unbearable intense afflictions of attachment and aversion arise, you should visualize as before.
