He built monasteries. That event was the first great event of the Zug built monasteries in Lhodrak and Ror. Furthermore, many great beings appeared. They all upheld the Dharma. The Venerable One said: Just as Geshe Tonpa did in the past, so too shall we, even if only reciting verses, at least in terms of words, rely on antidotes and abandon the eight worldly concerns. He said these words. The Venerable Je Rinpoche said: Representing this virtue, all the roots of virtue of oneself and others related to the three times, may all of them, in life after life, not mature even for a moment into things that are contrary to attaining supreme enlightenment, such as desiring profit and fame through knowledge, and retinues and offerings, respect, fame, etc., as causes of happiness, but may they become the sole cause of unsurpassed enlightenment. By taming with hundreds of unbearable sufferings, merely remembering the perfections of samsara, like being trapped in a burning iron chamber, may there be not even a sesame seed's worth of desire in the mind. He said that one should make aspirations in this way, without attachment to happiness and willingly enduring suffering, to practice the Dharma. In the Collection of Instructive Sayings, it says: Whoever constantly seeks happiness will draw near to making beings happy, and will be placed before those who crave beings, like a rabbit running all over in a trap. He said these words. The Wise One said: If one cannot separate from the fundamental desire, then the deeds of this life are like the eddies of a river. If one is caught, more will arise again. Is it not better to have fewer actions of body and speech? He said these words. Sakya Pandita said: Because of an excessively broad mind, one is distracted by noise, one thing leading to another, busy with unfinished tasks, gradually diminishing because of wanting this and that. Do you not realize that you are wasting your life in this way? He said these words. The Supreme Being said: Entrust the happiness of this life to the wind, bear suffering in the direction of practice, and give up body and life in the direction of asceticism. He said these words. The Venerable Je Tsongkhapa said: There is no happiness in samsara. What is now considered happiness, such as the happiness of eating food, is merely giving the name of happiness to the pacification of the suffering of hunger and thirst. Why is that? Just as the more one endures the suffering of hunger, the more the suffering increases, so too, if one eats forcefully, not only will happiness not come, but the suffering will increase even more.

The desire for food is initially not happiness, but a symbol of suffering. When eating, the suffering of hunger ceases. We delude ourselves into thinking that we have begun the happiness of eating. Similarly, all the pleasures of samsara are essentially suffering, merely labeled as happiness. Even so, we still regard it as happiness and cling to it, while hating its opposite. Because we do not understand this flaw, we accumulate the actions of ignorance and wander in samsara. Now, who would think that the pleasures of samsara are worth clinging to? Fourteenth, learning to regard suffering as an adornment: Not only should we not cling to happiness, but we should also regard suffering as an adornment, treating suffering like medicine. Potowa said: Dromtönpa (འབྲོམ་སྟོན་པ་, 1003-1064) had three disciples, namely Sgyipa, Yupa, and Tongrawa. Among the Sgyipa, Mangtsen had a fierce wife. 'Either you drink bitter juice for three years and then eat tsampa forever; or you eat tsampa for three years and then drink bitter juice forever,' she said. He replied, 'I drank bitter juice for three years, and Yurang also appeared.'
