In short, as Gampopa said: I do not seek power, and if I obtain it, I will abandon it. Now I only seek the profound Dharma of the Buddha and pure discipline. As it is said, "Rather than relying on antidotes, it is better to stay away from bad environments," one should abandon the places that give rise to afflictions, that is, the perfections of this life. It has been said many times before. In the teachings of Potowa, it is said: Possessing the four undesirable worldly dharmas, choose to practice these methods. A treasure that is not felt has no harm, but when it is felt (when it is felt, that itself) is taken away by others. Obtaining (closeness and praise are happiness), etc., although the four seem good to others, know that it is like being already dead. Dokham Jowo was holding a bee, one bee gathered, two bees gathered, many bees gathered, and then ate it, saying it was finished. Similarly, for obtaining etc., enemies and demons will gather. After taking it away, therefore, regard the four, such as obtaining, as enemies. Vast power is an ocean of suffering. It is also said in the instructions, so know that. Also, Nagarjuna said: How painful it is to have a lot of wealth, those with few desires are not like that. Just as the Naga kings have many heads, so much suffering will arise from them. So he said. In the teachings of Potowa, it is said: If you give it to a bad person, even a child will eat it. If you offer it to a noble being, the noble being will also accept it, which is not acceptable. What is needed is something that even if offered to a noble being, they will not accept. Ninth, compliance and consideration Abandonment: Geshe Phuchungwa was one of the three brothers. He did not tame the disciples, but fed himself. He appeared as a great accomplished one. There seem to be very many people who have a little Dharma connection. The surname is Zurchangpa, and the name is Yönnu Gyaltsen. He relied on the master for eleven years, which is the third or the longest period of reliance. Nine years later than Chayapa, and seven years later than Potowa. He passed away at Dobo Monastery at the age of seventy-six. Kanglungpa and the other three are called the Four Kadampa Brothers. He said: If you practice the Dharma diligently, it is like a piece of armor that cannot be fitted into the gaps of the armor. Similarly, what is needed is something that cannot be matched with the people of this life. Compliance and dislike, the Dharma will be taken away by demons. People's displeasure is an obstacle to desire. He is not happy, he himself does not

Oh! If he extends an invitation, others won't come. At that time, even if there's only a bowl of fried flour, one can still practice Dharma with a happy and relaxed mind. He said that if Dharma practice increases, benefiting others will naturally be accomplished. Tsangpa Gyare said: The root of attachment and hatred, abandon your homeland. The root of suffering, abandon your family. The root of clinging, abandon your wealth. The root of distraction, abandon protecting your reputation. Khrophu Sonam Senge said: Friends, monasteries, mountain retreats, and so on, Wherever you stay, don't seek close companions, And whoever you associate with, don't be intimate or hostile, Maintaining your own integrity is my heartfelt advice. When staying indoors, the arrangement of the house and so on, From the secluded place, Abandoning attachment to practice is also, Wasting life on trivial matters, Abandoning activities is my heartfelt advice. Khenchenpa said: Tea, alcohol, the attachment to cooking, and so on, Pure virtuous deeds are the root of distraction in Dharma practice. In this life, don't pursue high positions, Don't tear down the wall of harmonious relationships, Accomplish it in your youth. Bharawa said: The greater the power, the greater the suffering. The mind of the superior is borne by the inferior. Equal friendship is a treasure of wealth. The welcoming and sending off of suffering never ceases. Even if perfect, happiness is difficult. Generate a sense of weariness and go to the mountains. Kyese Chokpa said: In general, don't entrust high and low positions to one person, Don't let go of your mind in this life. Don't act carelessly, Thinking it's appropriate will deceive you. Is meditation and realization good or bad? It will be clear when you encounter circumstances. This is a recitation of the words of Gya Drakpa Chöje. Lama Olna said: If you don't listen to others' advice, you won't gain land. Too many thoughts will make you annoyed. If you postpone thinking of practicing Dharma, you won't succeed in the end. If the first half of your life is wasted, what will you do? Wherever you stay, don't accumulate possessions. Even if you go to a higher place, forget acquaintances. Even if you have many friends, don't be indulgent. This is how to maintain your integrity by abandoning activities. Whatever others say, don't pay attention. Do what is appropriate, don't do evil. No matter how things turn out in the end, endure suffering. This is how to cut off thoughts by abandoning activities. Gyalwa Yang Gonpa said: This life is like a heart entrusted to the wind, Distractions

Two, the leisure of not conforming to relatives and friends; three, the leisure of abandoning meaningless worldly affairs; four, the renunciation of cutting off attachment to desirable qualities. It would be great if one could abandon this life from the heart! (Venerable Ba Riwa) said: Some people do good deeds in favorable circumstances, and beg from unrelated people in adverse circumstances, always following the immediate enjoyment. For such people, the compassion of the guru is of no avail. Tenth, abandoning the merits and hustle and bustle of this life: Do not be happy about the many social events that come with others saying that your merits have increased, and avoid them like poison. Geshe Kharakpa said, "Fame is the flour scattered by demons, gain and respect are the ropes of bondage, merit is an obstacle to cultivating virtue, don't regard poison as medicine!" Lord of Reason said: "Bodily merit is like a cunning old man, one's own mind is like an empty-headed child, behavior is like the acceptance and rejection of games, do not be attached, otherwise nothing will be accomplished." The chief of the Indian saint's disciples, named Dampa Kungga, obtained five accomplishments from Padampa Sangye: "Please bless me to be without a home or stove! Please bless me to be without food or dwelling! Please bless me to be without friends or companions! Please bless me to be invisible to anyone! Please bless me not to generate merit like a sesame seed!" He practiced asceticism in such a depressed state, and eventually attained good samadhi. To encourage diligence, (the sutra) says: "Excitement, regret, and the thought of permanence, all these arise from hustle and bustle. Whoever abandons meaningless hustle and bustle, he can be free and unrestrained, not bound. Children like to talk about worldly affairs, they will stay away from the supreme Dharma." (Because) hatred increases and discriminating thoughts also increase, this fault makes people not tired of disease. Gyalsepa said, "Earlier last year, I was able to complete good deeds in my dreams, but later I was disturbed by various social events. Being sick today has restored me to my original state. If those so-called merits did not appear, I would be better off." Similarly, abandoning this life also includes the meaning of things like dog curses.
