These are the scriptures of the Mahayana teachings. The Sangha are the noble Bodhisattvas who are irreversible. The difference in thought is: All sentient beings have been kind to us countless times since beginningless time, and their kindness is profound. These kind beings are tormented by the intense and prolonged suffering of samsara, and are bound by the chains of karma and afflictions, without a means of liberation. Therefore, thinking of them as pitiable, one generates compassion. I must bring them temporary and ultimate happiness and free them from suffering. But now I do not have that ability, and only the Buddha has such ability, so I must attain Buddhahood. This also depends on the Three Jewels. In order to attain the Buddhahood that can liberate all sentient beings from suffering, I take refuge in and place my hopes in the Three Jewels, may I become like that, may the Three Jewels know. One should generate a strong aspiration. As it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: "That is the commitment made out of desire for that result, and that also arises from compassion." Because I do not now have the ability to liberate sentient beings from suffering, it is like a lame son being carried away by the water, yet telling others to hold back the flood. Those kind sentient beings, being carried away by the water of suffering and the origin of suffering, I am acting like saying to hold back the flood. Therefore, now liberating sentient beings from suffering, and in the future I have the ability to liberate all sentient beings, may the Three Jewels know, one should have this special thought. I should also understand that I am like a dream and an illusion, without reality. Without scattering the mind elsewhere, with a focused mind, I go for refuge, please allow me to repeat this three times. Please listen, teacher. Reciting one's own name, I say "I am called so-and-so," from this time onwards, until the heart of the Bodhi tree, I take refuge in the Supreme Buddha Bhagavan among the two-legged beings. Please listen, teacher. Reciting one's own name, I say "I am called so-and-so," from this time onwards, until the heart of the Bodhi tree, I take refuge in the supreme, peaceful, and desire-free Dharma among all dharmas. Please listen, teacher. Reciting one's own name, I say "I

From this time onwards, until I reach the essence of enlightenment, I take refuge in the supreme of assemblies, the noble Bodhisattva Sangha who are irreversible. Having taken refuge, their teaching is: from now on, one must firmly generate the intention to regard the Buddha as the teacher, the Mahayana Dharma as the path, and the noble Bodhisattvas as companions in practice. Third, accumulating merit and purifying obscurations through special methods: Some only perform prostrations and offerings, but Jowo Rinpoche (Atisha) said to perform the seven-branch practice completely. First, one must clearly visualize the object of the seven-branch offering: In the sky in front, visualize the master of the teachings, the Bhagavan Great Sage, foremost, surrounded by the eight close sons and other retinues, with immeasurable Buddhas and Bodhisattvas abiding. Visualize that in front of them and the teacher, oneself and all other sentient beings manifest as bodies as numerous as the dust particles of the earth, and with great reverence of body, speech, and mind, prostrate. When reciting the subsequent words, it is very important to speak slowly, clearly, and with appropriate pauses. With prostrations touching the five limbs to the ground, recite the following subsequent words three times. The body of all Buddhas combined. The nature of Vajradhara. The root of the Three Jewels. I prostrate to the Gurus. Recite one verse and make one prostration, repeating this three times. Similarly: Protector, great compassionate Lord. Omniscient teacher. The field of merit and qualities. I prostrate to the Tathagata. The cause of purity, free from attachment. Liberating from the lower realms through virtue. The ultimate supreme truth. I prostrate to the peaceful Dharma. Having liberated, also shows the path of liberation. With great respect for all trainings. The holy field of qualities. I also prostrate to the Sangha. Make prostrations in this way. Thus, after the prostrations to the Guru and the Three Jewels have preceded, the second is offering, which is divided into five parts, the first of which is the actual arranged offering. First, it should be blessed by the teacher with their respective knowledge,

The offerings actually arranged in excellent containers such as large bowls, blessed by their respective mantras, transform into divine substances such as offering water, flowers, incense, lamps, supreme fragrances, food, music, and so on, becoming inconceivable varieties of offerings. Oṃ Vajra Arghaṃ Āḥ Hūṃ (藏文:ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་ཨཱརྒྷཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ།,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ vajra arghaṃ āḥ hūṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡,金刚,供水,啊,吽), Oṃ Vajra Puṣpe Āḥ Hūṃ (藏文:ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་པུཥྤེ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ།,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ vajra puṣpe āḥ hūṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡,金刚,花,啊,吽) up to Oṃ Vajra Śabda Āḥ Hūṃ (藏文:,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ vajra śabda āḥ hūṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡,金刚,声音,啊,吽), bless them in this way. Having blessed them in this way, the cloud of divine substance offerings arising from the actual arranged offerings as a cause, fills the expanse of the sky. Furthermore, thinking of offering the flowers and so on that exist in immeasurable realms of the world to the Guru, the Victorious Ones, and their retinue, please recite this: Oṃ Sarva Tathāgata Arghaṃ Pratīccha Pūja Megha Samudra Spharaṇa Samaye Hūṃ (藏文:ཨོཾ་སརྦ་ཏ་ཐཱ་ག་ཏ་ཨཱརྒྷཾ་པྲ་ཏིཙྪ་པཱུ་ཛ་མེ་གྷ་ས་མུ་དྲ་སྥ་ར་ཎ་ས་མ་ཡེ་ཧཱུྃཿ,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ sarva tathāgata arghaṃ pratīccha pūja megha samudra spharaṇa samaye hūṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡,一切,如来,供水,接受,供养,云,海,充满,誓言,吽). Similarly, offer by reciting from flowers up to sound. In short, most of the words such as offering water can be used flexibly according to the situation. Secondly, the offerings not possessed by oneself: In as many realms of the ten directions, vast and limitless worlds as there are, all kinds of jewels, wish-fulfilling trees, grains and flowers, medicines and forests, etc., that are not possessed by oneself, take them with great joy and offer them to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, thinking: For the sake of myself and all limitless sentient beings to complete the accumulations, please accept them. Please repeat after me: As many flowers and fruits as there are, all kinds of medicines that exist, as many jewels as there are in the world, whatever pure and pleasing water there is, jewel mountains and likewise, forests, secluded and delightful places, trees adorned and embellished with flowers, trees with good fruits and drooping branches, all the fragrances, incense, wish-fulfilling trees and jewel trees in the worlds of gods and others, all kinds of crops that grow naturally without plowing, and other ornaments suitable for offering, lakes and ponds adorned with lotuses, swans with extremely melodious and pleasing voices, all these unpossessed things that reach the end of the vast expanse of the sky, take them with the mind and offer them to the supreme of the conquerors.
