Of the two types of actions that are conducive [to liberation], the first is: The three actions of the body among the ten virtuous actions are: Abandoning killing leads to longevity and freedom from illness; abandoning taking what is not given leads to abundant wealth; abandoning sexual misconduct leads to a harmonious and beautiful household without enemies. In order to obtain the desirable happiness of the happy realms, I must rely on my own mind-stream. Thinking in this way, I will practice with the completeness of the three aspects: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. This is the forty-second instruction. Then, the four actions of speech are: Abandoning lying leads to being praised and pleased by all; abandoning divisive speech leads to harmonious attendants and supreme respect; abandoning harsh speech leads to pleasant and praiseworthy words; abandoning idle chatter leads to trustworthy and reliable speech. Because all the virtuous actions and happiness of speech are accomplished, I must rely on them. Thinking in this way, I will practice with the completeness of the three aspects: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. This is the forty-third instruction. Then, the three actions of mind are: Abandoning covetousness leads to the fulfillment of wishes; abandoning harmful intent leads to freedom from harm; abandoning wrong views leads to the transformation of views into good ones. In order to accomplish the joy and happiness of the higher realms through the virtuous and excellent actions of the mind, I must practice. Thinking in this way, I will practice with the completeness of the three aspects: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. This is the forty-fourth instruction. Then, the actions that are conducive to liberation are: Whatever virtuous action is done, it is done with the thought of being liberated from samsara and attaining the peaceful nirvana. In summary, there are three types of liberation depending on whether one is aiming for the liberation of a Shravaka, a Pratyekabuddha, or a fully enlightened Buddha. But since we desire full enlightenment this time, we must, for all actions such as the ten virtuous actions, the four dhyanas, the four formless absorptions, the two aspects of shamatha and vipashyana, the four immeasurables, and the six paramitas, engage in them without delay, ensuring that they are sealed by the three excellences: the preparation of generating bodhicitta, the main practice of being without the object of clinging to true existence, and the conclusion of dedication. Because enlightenment cannot be attained without completing the accumulations, thinking in this way, I will practice with the completeness of the three aspects: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. This is the forty-fifth instruction. Then, thinking of everything as the nature of karma: Like this, all the happiness and suffering, high and low, in samsara are created by one's own virtuous and non-virtuous karma. The differences in the three bodhis and their happiness and excellence are also due to actions that are conducive to liberation.

Because of the differences in the actions performed by each individual. Karma is like a painter, one person can transform into many forms. The follower is like the shadow of the body, one's own actions will not be transferred to others, and the actions of others will not be transferred to oneself, just like the happiness and suffering felt by different bodies. The power of good and evil karma is strong, and can lead people to the heavens and evil paths, just like a great king. The scope of karma is vast, like the expanse of the sky. The types of karma are numerous, like the goods in the market. Karma and karma do not mix with each other, like the patterns of silk. The essence of good and evil will not change, like the Utpala (Sanskrit: Utpala, meaning: blue lotus) and Kumuda (Sanskrit: Kumuda, meaning: white lotus). Whatever is accumulated will produce corresponding results. Therefore, I should regard everything as karma and strive to take and abandon. One should practice in a way that is complete with the three aspects of preparation, main practice, and subsequent practice. The forty-sixth guiding verse is completed. The fifth topic is to advise relying on a virtuous spiritual friend, which is divided into two types: thinking about nature and practicing yoga. First, thinking about nature is further divided into three types: thinking about differences, examining characteristics, and praising virtues. The first is to distinguish between the holy and the non-holy, and to take and abandon accordingly. If one relies on a true virtuous spiritual friend, his virtues, goodness, and beauty will naturally influence oneself, just like being near a sandalwood tree, one will naturally be contaminated with fragrance. Therefore, one should rely on virtuous spiritual friends and pure companions, because this will enable one's virtuous deeds to grow and increase. If one relies on evil spiritual friends and sinful companions, their faults will naturally influence oneself, just like unclean grass is contaminated by rotten fish. Therefore, I should stay away from sinful knowledge and sinful companions, because all unwholesome aspects should be reduced, abandoned, and eliminated. One should practice with the three aspects of preparation, main practice, and subsequent practice. The forty-seventh guiding verse is completed. Next is the examination of characteristics, which is divided into two types. The common characteristic is: just as going to the treasure island requires relying on a skilled captain, I also need to rely on a lama, a virtuous spiritual friend, to reach the shore of liberation and attain Buddhahood. Therefore, the body, speech, and mind actions of the lama are without fault, and adorned with perfect virtues, possessing extensive learning and great compassion.
