The Second Volume of Instructions Treasury. The Excellent Path to Enlightenment: Instructions on the Meaning of the Three Places of Rest in the Nature of Mind, the Great Perfection, and the Three Virtues. The Excellent Path to Enlightenment: Instructions on the Meaning of the Three Places of Rest in the Nature of Mind, the Great Perfection, and the Three Virtues. Homage. Oṃ svasti siddhaṃ. (藏文:ༀ་སྭ་སྟི་སིདྡྷཾ།,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ svasti siddhaṃ,汉语字面意思:Om, may there be well-being, may there be accomplishment.) On the ground of the two accumulations, a wish-fulfilling tree of liberation, With limitless qualities, flowers and fruits shining, Shade of benefit and happiness pervading all realms of existence and peace, I pay homage to the enlightenment tree of the Victorious Ones. The precious treasury of the outer, inner, and secret sacred Dharma, Having perfected the principles of the ground, path, and fruition, The meaning of the supreme essence of the causal and resultant supreme vehicle, I will clearly explain the instruction manual of the three virtues. Among these, the outer common ground, the causal characteristic vehicle, the initial virtuous instruction; the inner special result, the mantra vajra vehicle, the intermediate virtuous instruction; the secret definitive meaning essence result, the great perfection unsurpassed vehicle, the final virtuous instruction, thus establishing the three. The first has two parts: the lineage of the lamas and the experiential pith instructions. In the first part, although there are many sequences of what I have heard in relation to the individual great vehicle systems, they are condensed into three definite places of pith instructions: The lineage of gradually training in the teachings through vast conduct, The lineage of demonstrating the heat and measure of samadhi on the stages and paths, which is profound and vast, And the lineage of demonstrating the reality of the nature of reality, the profound view. The first is: the Great Sage, Manjushri, Shantideva, Ela Dhari, Maha Shri, Ratna Bhava Vajra, Dipamkara, Sumati, Translator Lodan Sherab, Tse Pangpa Chokyi Lama, Phyawa Chokyi Senge, Danbagpa Darma Tashi, Sherab Lodro, Sherab Wangchuk, Sangye Tsondu, Wengewa Shakya Senge, Labrangpa Chopal Gyaltsen, Samyepa Tsultrim Lodro, and others. The second is: the Sage, Maitreya, Asanga, Vasubandhu, Arya Vimuktisena, Bhikshu Vimuktisena, Shreshthisena, Vinayasena, Vairochana Bhadra, Simha Bhadra, Buddha Yeshe Zhabs, Guna Mitra, Ratna Sarvajna, and Bumpa Sumpa.

Lodan Sherab, Drel Sherab O, Ar Jangchub Yeshe, Khu Sherab Tszondru, Karchung Ringmowa, Zhang Yewa, Nyalzhik. Gya Chingrupa, Chumikpa Senge Pal, Lodrakpa. Among them are Tsen Monastery and Wengewa. These two have Lhabrangpa and Chodrak. I have visited these two. The third is: Sangye, Jamyang, Phakpa Nagarjuna, Dawa Drakpa, Rigpai Khujug, Kusali the elder, the younger, Jowo Je, Balpo Tangpa Dza, Abhayakara, Jangchub Sempa Dawa Gyaltsen, Drolungpa Chenpo, Jowo Lhasepa Jangchub O, Rma Shakya Senge, Chhim Namkha Drak, Khenpo Montshul, Lobpon Jangchub Drub, Lobpon Zhonnu Dorje. He transmitted it to Samyepa Ngagi Wangpo. In addition, there is also the Jowo Kagyu lineage, but it is not written here. May the qualities of self-nature, bliss, perfection, auspiciousness, the supreme of gods, the nature of great compassion, and the clouds of benefit and happiness be complete. I prostrate with reverence to the assembly of glorious and protective lamas. The second meaning is the key instructions for practice, the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, impermanence of life, suffering of samsara, karma and its effects, reliance on a virtuous spiritual friend, taking refuge, the four immeasurables, generating the mind of enlightenment and the precepts, these are the eight vajra places. The first place has ten: the essence of contemplating leisure, the distinction of contemplating endowment, contemplating the dangers of the lower realms, contemplating the example of difficulty in obtaining, contemplating the distinctions of order, contemplating the meaninglessness of wasting time, contemplating the interdependence of cause and condition, contemplating the wheel of birth and death, contemplating the praise of leisure and endowment, contemplating the supreme joy and happiness. The first is to contemplate the eight states of non-leisure. Even if one falls into being an ordinary person, one should generate joy from obtaining leisure and strive to practice the Dharma. If one is born in hell, one will experience the suffering of heat and cold, and there is no opportunity to practice the Dharma. If one is born as a hungry ghost, one will suffer from the burning fire of hunger and thirst, and there is no opportunity to practice the Dharma. If one is born as an animal, one will be harmed by being eaten by others, and there is no opportunity to practice the Dharma. If one is born in the long-life heavens, one will spend eons in a state of unconsciousness and regret it at the time of death, and there is no opportunity to practice the Dharma. If one is born in a border region
