Thinking, meditation, and discipline, etc., are contrary to the Dharma of liberation, thinking that these are universally condemned by the noble ones. Afterwards, abide in the state of no-birth. Moreover, the three, preliminary, main, and subsequent practices, must be cultivated. This is the eighty-fifth guiding instruction. Then, contemplate the faults of associating with children: Generate the mind of enlightenment, and think like this: Whether appearing as householders or renunciates, associating with the retinue of ordinary people, friends, relatives, companions, enemies, and neutral parties is unbearable. Because they are inherently bad-natured, ungrateful, repaying kindness with harm, greedy, insatiable, easily angered, harsh in speech, only satisfying their own desires, unintentionally harming others, short-sighted, abandoning and slandering when their own wealth and virtues decline, shameless, fearless of Dharma, vows, etc., and karmic consequences, having many affairs, extremely difficult to please, fighting, harming, jealous, etc., being deceived only by non-Dharma matters, wasting their lives. Merely associating with them diminishes merit and increases demerit. Even the noble ones avoid such children. I, too, will not associate with anyone, as it obstructs the accomplishment of the supreme liberation. I will practice solitary, peaceful samadhi. Thinking thus, dedicate the merit afterwards. This is the eighty-sixth guiding instruction. Then, contemplate the faults of busyness: Generate the mind of enlightenment, and think like this: In general, worldly phenomena, especially the affairs of this life, never have an end or satisfaction. Always busy and distracted, trivial and meaningless, no matter how hard one strives, there is no essence. Even if one conquers enemies, there is no end; even if one cares for relatives, there is no end; whether one does business, farming, crafts, or studies, besides striving for food and clothing, there is not even a speck of dust of what one does that can be transformed into something meaningful, that can lead to the path of Dharma. Day and night, cycling through the distractions of busyness, what is the use of this? Now, let go of this life and practice meditation! Thinking thus, dedicate the merit afterwards. This is the eighty-seventh guiding instruction. Then, contemplate the virtues of solitude: The Buddhas and

All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas practiced in the peaceful forest in order to attain nectar. I too am happy to go to a solitary place, because there is no noise and distraction there, no affairs and busyness, no commerce and agriculture, no association with children, and association with birds and wild animals is full of happiness. Water and leaves and so on are suitable for ascetic food, caves and the foot of rocky mountains and so on are suitable places for practice, because they are in accordance with the Dharma. Because there is no social interaction, virtue naturally increases. Because awareness is naturally clear, wisdom is clear and bright. Therefore, because solitude has many advantages, I think that today I must live in solitude, and afterwards dedicate the merit. This is the eighty-eighth instruction. Then there is the actual practice of meditation, possessing the seven dharmas of Vairochana, taking refuge and generating Bodhicitta. Without any conceptualization, without grasping anything, abide in this state without distraction. The field of appearance is uninterrupted, and a samadhi that pacifies grasping and conceptualization arises. Afterwards, dedicate the merit. This is the eighty-ninth instruction. Then there are three points about the Prajnaparamita, the first point is to view the nature of appearance as eight similes of illusion. After generating Bodhicitta, like this, all appearances of external objects are appearances that are clearly not there but appear mistakenly, like the appearance of a dream. Appearing suddenly from the assembly of causes and conditions, like the appearance of a magic trick. Appearing as if it exists when it does not, like the appearance of an optical illusion. There is no truth when it appears, like the appearance of a mirage. Appearing inside and out, like the sound of an echo in a valley. There is no support and nothing supported, like a city of Gandharvas. Appearing but without self-nature, like the appearance of an image. Appearing without appearing anything, like a city of emanations. From the moment it appears, contemplate it as false, an empty form without substance, and finally dedicate the merit. This is the ninetieth instruction. Then there is the examination of the emptiness of Dharmata, after generating Bodhicitta, the gross appearance of external objects, and the material of one's own body
