When can this body of flesh and blood benefit sentient beings? When, even if I remain in hell for a long time, can I still help sentient beings? When can I fulfill the hopes of sentient beings with great worldly and transcendent wealth? When can I become a Buddha and surely remove all the suffering of sentient beings? May I never, in all my lifetimes, be born into a life that is of no benefit to sentient beings, indulge in selfish pleasures, speak words that do not bring comfort to all beings, engage in harmful actions that are of no benefit to others, possess a body, wisdom, wealth, and power, yet delight in harming others. May the results of the sins of sentient beings ripen upon me, and may the results of my virtues ripen upon sentient beings, so that they may be happy. After thinking in this way, dedicate the merits. This is the eightieth instruction. Next, regarding the perfection of patience, there are two types. Patience with an object of focus is: When practicing the sacred Dharma in this way, enduring the suffering of asceticism, enduring and accepting the suffering of others, not being afraid of the state of great Dharma, and enduring one's own mind. Although these are all important, here the main practice is to cultivate patience by not allowing one's own anger to arise from the harm of others. Generate the mind to cultivate patience for the benefit of all sentient beings. No matter what wrong actions companions may commit, or what meaningful or meaningless harm they may inflict, let go of the agitated mind and examine it with wisdom in this way: Sentient beings are by nature harmful, so this will happen. If you retaliate with harm, it will never end, so you should be patient. Also, it is because I have done such evil deeds in the past. If you can be patient, you will gain supreme merit, so it is reasonable to be patient. Apart from one's own karma, their harm cannot make me higher or lower, so I should also be patient. If it can be remedied, strive to find a way. If it cannot be remedied, then the impatient mind will only make oneself suffer, and there is no benefit. Moreover, if you retaliate, it will only increase the harm of others, so you should abandon anger from the depths of your heart. Relax your body and mind, be in a state of peace, and then dedicate the merits with the purity of the three spheres. This is the eighty-first instruction. Next is patience without an object of focus: For the harmer and my own body, transform into dust particles.

When examined, it is impartially empty. The colors and fixations of speech vanish without a trace when examined. The essence of the mind, when looked at, appears to be without substance. The harming enemy. Harm is unpleasant speech, injury, and discomfort, etc. The objects of harm, all of us, are purified into impartial emptiness. Relax and rest in the state of no birth. This is practiced with the complete three parts: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. This is the eighty-second instruction. Then, the perfection of diligence: Generate the mind of enlightenment. Like this, laziness does not even accomplish one's own benefit, so what need is there to mention the benefit of others? I must accomplish the benefit of all sentient beings, so I must be diligent. Thinking like this, practice the ten virtuous actions, the ten perfections, prostrations, circumambulations, etc., as much as possible. Especially, strive to practice the seven-branch prayer and the practice of the three heaps. Afterwards, in the conclusion, dedicate the merit in the state of not fixating on the three spheres. This is the eighty-third instruction. Then, of the six perfections of meditation, the first is contemplating the nature of change and impermanence. Like this, all who are born will die. All that gathers will separate. All that accumulates will be exhausted. All that flourishes will decline. Shifting and without essence, attachment to the impermanent appearances of this life is futile. I too will die quickly. I will certainly die. If I have no power to not die tomorrow or even tonight, what is the use of the deceptive appearances of this life? Since the profound instruction is certainly beneficial at the time of death, one must strive to practice meditation. Day and night, a moment, a short time, even an hour changes, bringing death closer. Practice this with the three parts: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. This is the eighty-fourth instruction. Then, contemplate the faults of desire. Like this, the kinds of desire have many faults. Being busy with accumulating, protecting, and increasing, non-virtue increases. Accompanied by disputes with everyone. Having it, one does not know satisfaction. Arrogance and miserliness increase, fearing exhaustion, fearing being taken, fearing being robbed, being shared with thieves, etc. Even if accumulated, at the time of death, everything must be left behind and is of the nature of separation. The more one has, the more suffering there is. More than that is hearing and
