Therefore, there is a need for it to arise naturally. Second, regarding the expression of the actual instruction, there are four: deciding with view, familiarizing with meditation, eliminating obstacles with conduct, and abandoning hope and doubt regarding the result. The first point is further divided into two aspects: deciding that appearances are the play of mind, and deciding that the nature of mind is emptiness. The first aspect is: Thus, all appearances and existence are like last night's dream, and there is nothing else established other than appearing to one's own mind. As the sixth chapter of the Root Tantra says: All dharmas, the root is the all-creating Bodhicitta. However it may appear, it is my essence. (Tibetan: ཇི་ལྟར་སྣང་ཡང་ང་ཡི་ངོ་བོ་ཡིན།) However it may arise, it is my miraculous display. All sounds and words that arise, are my meaning arising as words and sounds. The Buddhas' bodies, wisdom, qualities, and sentient beings' bodies and habitual tendencies, etc., all that encompasses appearances and existence, the container and its contents, are primordially the essence of Bodhicitta. Thus it is said. Therefore, since everything does not go beyond the miraculous display of one's own mind, not realizing this is called samsara. As it says in the same text: Not realizing the nature of the all-creating me, by definitely examining the dharmas created by me, it is established by the power of dryness and attachment, the impermanent, illusory nature will perish, it is the nature of being without attachment, like a blind person. Therefore, one should familiarize oneself with the state where the dharmas appearing to the mind and one's own mind are, in essence, non-dual, like the appearances in a dream. As the fifteenth chapter of the Root Tantra says: All the dharmas that appear, and one's own mind, the nature of reality, are primordially one, one should not conceptualize this in terms of cause and effect or scripture, one should examine one's own suchness, one's own Bodhi essence is appearance. Thus it is said. After examining in this way, by placing the appearing objects, such as earth, water, fire, and wind, etc., in a state where they are without external reality for ten days, Therefore, it is necessary to be liberated from the elaboration of clinging to external objects after realizing that there is not even a particle of dharma that is different from Bodhicitta. This is because the clinging to clinging to the mind is also shown to be the nature of reality that is pure from the beginning. Deciding that the mind is empty, as the twenty-second chapter of the Root Tantra says: Not moving inward, there is no object to be found inward. There is no attachment for the sake of an object, and there is no object to dedicate to an object. No arising, no ceasing, selfless great compassion.

Therefore, it is not the property of others, but exists from the beginning. As it is said, now, regarding the three awarenesses of inner, outer, and in-between, where does this thought initially come from? Where does it exist now? Where does it ultimately go? The determination of color, shape, and characteristics is like a mountain. Now, at the very moment of arising, does it reside in external appearances? Does it reside within the internal aggregates? Or does it reside in this intermediate space? Thus, one should investigate. When one examines and separates external appearances and the internal body, if nothing is established, then one should also turn back the meaning of the ten aspects of self-nature. Searching in this way, if one does not find the essence of this mind, are there things like view, meditation, samaya, activity, mandala, empowerment, purification of the ground, progression on the path, purification of obscurations, wisdom, or Buddhahood that exist as things to be accomplished and means of accomplishment? Examining and analyzing these separately, if one does not find the essence of any of them, then the ten aspects of self-nature, which are pure from the beginning, are turned back into the great perfection of non-meditation. As it is said. In the ninth chapter of the Root Tantra, it says: 'I turn back the 'La' of all phenomena, because there is no other place without me. View and meditation are not possible, so turn back the 'La' again. Because there is nothing to protect other than me, turn back to self-arisen wisdom. Because I am unborn nature, activity need not be sought, so turn back the 'La' again. Because there is no existence other than me, the ground need not be purified, so turn back the 'La' again. Because I have no obscurations from the beginning, turn back to self-arisen wisdom. Because I am unborn nature, the subtle is also turned back to 'La'. Because there is no progress other than me, the ground need not be traversed, so turn back the 'La' again. Because the essence of Bodhi arises from me, therefore, the original non-duality is also turned back to 'La'. In order to ascertain self-arisen wisdom, it is the thunderbolt of great meaning, so turn back the 'La' again. Because all phenomena do not exist from me, therefore, the all-doer, I, turn back the 'La' of all.' So it is said. These should be examined for three, five, or eleven days, according to the capacity of the individual. Then, the second is to turn back the 'La' through meditation. Having thus settled on a view of mind itself that is vast, unbounded, and without bias, in a secluded place, relax the body and mind, and let go with ease.
