Absence of conceptualization, abandoning attachment to vows such as those concerning food, and liberation from the restraints of body and speech constitute the discipline of having attained stability. Furthermore, abandoning shame, despondency, and ordinary sleep is the vow of all conduct. The conduct vows of having attained stability in the completion stage are: all food is internal offering, constantly establishing the mandala of samadhi, consecrating whatever is seen as the three vajras, knowing speech as mantra and continuously reciting it, constantly being inseparable from wisdom, teaching instructions to human and non-human disciples, benefiting sentient beings through subjugation and attraction, pleasing all Buddhas through self-offering, never abandoning the sleep of clear light, not abandoning the customs of the village, and not rejecting the enjoyment of sense objects. Having attained great stability, not binding hand mudras, not prostrating even to images except for the teacher and lineage lamas, let alone others, and not performing mandala activities, etc., are the ascetic practices of having attained great stability. The ninth is: Infinite Qualities. This means that the benefits of conduct are infinite, but to mention just a few examples, in the context of the Ganachakra in the Secret Accomplishment practice, it is said: In the place as spoken, if one practices the conduct of vidya, then all sins are purified, and one will be liberated together with the vidya. Moreover, merely touching and conversing can purify all the sins of other sentient beings. In the Five Stages, it says: The discriminating wisdom of self-appearing, relying on the fourth, whoever trains in the three, will quickly obtain the result. Just as wood depends on fire, it will not arise without friction. Similarly, enlightenment, free from training, will not arise from this. Here, the three refers to the three conducts. Except for the intermediate state, the ultimate cause of the path of seeing and attaining Buddhahood depends solely on conduct. The swift accomplishment of siddhis also depends solely on conduct, just as fire does not arise even from a small piece of wood without friction, one must train in conduct.
