Ninth, distinguishing the order of the grounds and paths to be traversed. Ninth, distinguishing the order of the grounds and paths to be traversed. 1. The occasion of establishing the grounds and paths of the Vehicle of Reasoning. Thus, depending on practicing the order of common and special meditations, the realization of grounds and paths will arise in the continuum in sequence. The way to practice the limbs of generating qualities that have not arisen and stabilizing and increasing those that have arisen must also be understood from this. Therefore, the ninth place, distinguishing the order of grounds and paths to be traversed, has four occasions: establishing the grounds and paths of the Vehicle of Reasoning, establishing the grounds and paths of the Fruit Vajra Vehicle, establishing the practice of limbs of the path, etc., establishing the grounds and paths of the three yogas of the Early Translation. The first has two: establishing the path and the nature of the ground. The first also has five: the essence of the path, the enumeration of differences, the meaning of words, the difference between real and imputed, and the detailed explanation of each of the five paths. The first is: the essence of the path, whatever is entered, is the very entrance to traversing the supreme state. Thus, the essence of the path to be traversed is that whatever is entered becomes the entrance to traversing the supreme state of the world or beyond the world. Regarding the definition of the path, some say that it is the virtue that becomes the cause of liberation, and the ability to abandon what is to be abandoned, which is not reasonable, because the ground and the part of the antidote also become the path. Some think that the opposite of the path is completion, which is also not reasonable, because the path is like the entrance to be traversed, and completion belongs to the agent. The second is: the differences are the three vehicles, contaminated and uncontaminated, etc., although many, all are summarized as the five paths. In general, the distinctions of the path are endless: the three paths of the three vehicles, and the two paths of higher realms and liberation, or higher birth and definite goodness, or the world and beyond the world, or the two paths of contaminated and uncontaminated, etc., from the category of the four paths such as application, and the four paths distinguished by fast and slow and difficult and easy, and the two paths of learning and non-learning, and the two paths of equipoise and subsequent attainment, etc., there are many different distinctions of occasions, but the most famous summary of all past paths is the five

Therefore, the paths of accumulation, application, seeing, meditation, and no-more-learning are known as the five paths. Third, the etymology is that it is called a path because it is the basis for walking. The etymology is derived from the word "pantha" ( देवनागरी , panthā, Romanized Sanskrit, road), which is derived from the root "pathi" ( देवनागरी , pathi, Romanized Sanskrit, to walk), which means: because it is the entrance to walking or the basis for walking, it is called a path. For those who have entered the path, the ground is walkable, so it is a place to walk. As it is said in the Sutra Collection: "What do you ride to free all sentient beings from suffering?" Therefore, what you ride, that is, relying on it to be liberated from suffering, is also called a vehicle because it is similar to a vehicle or conveyance. Fourth, the Hearers and Solitary Realizers are nominal paths and fruits with progress, and the Great Vehicle is the ultimate nominal path and real fruit. Combining direct realization with reality is nominal. The Hearers and Solitary Realizers, etc., are the characteristics of the path and the nominal fruits because they have the cause of moving upwards. The Great Vehicle practitioners, etc., are the nominal path and the characteristics of the fruit because they have reached the ultimate in abandonment and realization. In addition, the teacher Yeshepa, the spiritual friend, said: "The paths of accumulation and application are merely worldly, so they are not the truth of the path, but the aids to the path, because they can produce the path." As he said, some, such as Eshe Rapal, believe that the two paths of accumulation and application are not the real path because they are conceptual and defiled, but the cause is called the path. According to this view, the two paths of accumulation and application that will be discussed must also be called the nominal path, because they can be combined with the real direct realization of the path of seeing. However, the Ratnakuta Sutra says that even if there is conceptualization, non-conceptualization can arise from correct conceptualization, just like the analogy of fire arising from rubbing two pieces of wood together. And, because it is said to be defiled because it is related to the seed, it is also related to the alaya consciousness that has the path, and the nature of the path is undefiled, so from these aspects, it also becomes the characteristic of the path. Fifth, there are five: the path of accumulation, the path of application, the path of seeing, the path of meditation, and the ultimate path. First, there are eight aspects to explaining the path of accumulation: the establishment of the nature, the determination of the basis, the classification, the determination of the nature, the difference between abandonment and realization, the narration of the merits, what is the function, and the display of the etymology. First: The path of accumulation is gathered by the virtuous roots that are in harmony with liberation. The nature or characteristic of the path of accumulation is
