Moreover, the main practice is approaching accomplishment, and great attachment is accomplished by remembering desire. How is this path entwined? It needs to be practiced with three kinds of faith. In the "Vimalaprabha Sutra," it says: The Bhagavan spoke of three kinds of faith in this mantra vehicle. First, one should have faith in the tantra for a while. Then, one should have faith in the lama. Then, one should have faith in oneself. If these three are not complete, then the path to complete and perfect enlightenment will not be complete. Thus it is said. Among them, having faith in the tantra means: having faith in the definitive instructions that come from the words of the actual teachings of the pure tantra, which is definitely spoken by the perfectly enlightened Buddha, and which is explained by qualified wise and accomplished ones. Having faith in the lama means: having faith in the lama lineage that has not been interrupted from the Buddha to oneself, and whose blessings have not diminished, either through attaining accomplishment by relying on this path, or through the arising of special experiences in accordance with the tantra. Having faith in oneself means: through one's own practice, experiences arise, and the experiences that arise are also in accordance with what is said in the tantra, and as the lama has taught, thereby gaining faith in the three: experience, tantra, and instructions. If one has these three kinds of faith, then one can understand the reasons for the Dharma, thereby first gaining faith, and from that, the path to attaining supreme accomplishment will become pure. The common and uncommon preliminaries together with the main practice are summarized by the four branches of recitation and accomplishment. In the "Condensed Tantra," it says: Recitation is done with the five amritas and so on, and with water treasures, vajras, and the recitation of mantras and so on. Approaching accomplishment is done with the collection of each and so on, and with the amrita born from the vajra lotus. Meditation, which is the union of the three vajras of joy and so on and the lotus taste, becomes accomplishment. When wisdom is combined, from the immutable subtle yoga, it will definitely become great accomplishment. Thus it is said. In general, for the main practice of the completion stage, there are many distinctions made regarding the four branches of recitation and accomplishment. But here, for the case where the preliminary and main practices of the completion stage are combined, the four branches of recitation and accomplishment need to be counted as one time. Not with the four independent preliminaries.

Since it lays the foundation for the deity of the Completion Stage, the limbs of approach, such as contemplating the fingers and holding the breath, are the actual deity itself. With the three mudras, which are limbs of near accomplishment, desire and mindfulness are the limbs of accomplishing the great, unchanging bliss. Since it actually accomplishes the supreme body of samadhi wisdom, it is a limb of great accomplishment. Regarding this, the meaning of the first line of the tantra from "Stainless Light" is: Here, the beginner should first approach with the ritual of the means of accomplishment, and approach with the five amritas and so on. The external five amritas are: recitation and so on, and what is included by "and so on" is go-ku-la and so on, that is, to deeply approach them for the purpose of pleasing the deity. The internal five amritas are: the five aggregates, and what is included by "and so on" are the five senses, which are the five lamps. To be without dependence on these is to approach, that is, to completely abandon attachment to the body and material possessions. Through approach, the deities will grant supreme accomplishment, but not through eating recitation and so on. The so-called "Water Treasure Vajras and so on" means: not depending on the enjoyment of the body, not depending on the enjoyment of speech, not depending on the enjoyment of mind, not depending on the enjoyment of transference, is approach, that is, the vows of body, speech, mind, and celibacy. This is its meaning. Through this, the deities will grant supreme accomplishment, but not by clinging to worldly enjoyments. This fourfold non-dependence that is spoken of is also called relying on the three solitudes in common parlance, that is, the body is solitary from activity, speech is solitary from speaking, and the mind is solitary from conceptual thought. Since the six limbs of the main practice are the yoga of the four vajras, the preliminary for laying its foundation also requires the four non-dependences, therefore it is said "Water Treasure Vajra." Not depending on the enjoyment of the body is the yoga of contemplating the fingers, the body vajra. Similarly, not depending on speech is holding the breath, speech; not depending on mind is mindfulness, mind; not depending on the enjoyment of transference is the foundation of the yoga of samadhi wisdom vajra. The meaning of these words is also approach because they are close to going to supreme accomplishment, for example, a city.
