Thus it is said, "In me, there is the experience of non-duality." The conventional truth is like a sudden stain, yellow on a conch shell. The ultimate truth is the Tathagatagarbha, like the white of a conch shell. However, in the face of the deluded subject, it only appears as such. On the object, the conch shell, there is no yellow or white to be removed or placed. Therefore, leaving it unadorned, abiding in its natural state, is the key instruction. In short, what is called samsara and nirvana is established from the perspective of mere conventional appearance, but the nature of both is luminosity free from elaboration, which is called the Tathagatagarbha. Therefore, in the definitive sense, appearance and its nature are inseparable, like fire and heat. For this reason, it is also said in the Mother Sutra, "Form is emptiness, emptiness is form," and so on. Rangjung Dorje said, "The great seal, the nature of reality free from elaboration, is empty of all signs of conceptual elaboration. Clear and without grasping, it is the pure nature, also called the Tathagatagarbha." So it is said. On this, the Dharma Lord Sakya Pandita said, "In the system of the Paramitas, there is no term 'Great Seal,' and the wisdom of the Great Seal arises only from empowerment." After him, many great ones proclaimed falsehoods, but in the Entering Suchness by the scholar Yeshe Drakpa, it is said, "The Mother Sutra, the Prajnaparamita, is another name for the Great Seal, because it is the nature of non-dual wisdom." Not only are the Prajnaparamita spoken of in the sutras and the Great Seal of mantra explained as synonyms, but it is also said, "The most diligent of those who strive in the Paramitas, by meditating on shamatha and vipassana, will certainly possess the Great Seal even in the state of an ordinary being, and by realizing it with correct view, it is a sign of non-retrogression." Thus, the terminology of the name is also explained. Lhanchig Dorje also explained it similarly, which will appear below. Dagpo Rinpoche said that even for beginners, he generated the realization of the Great Seal in those who had not received empowerment, which is the system of the Paramitas. This is mainly a teaching that originated from the Kadampa tradition, the Great Seal composed by Jowo (Atisha).

The instructions of the second Coemergent Union Armor and the current customs are the same in all respects, and the four stages of yoga are also clearly shown there. Thus, most of the assemblies are guided by the Lamrim that came from the Kadampa. And the uncommon ones are guided by the means that came from Lama Mila, which is the meaning of the former. Considering this, Lord Akshobhya said: The characteristics of the Mahamudra accomplishment of the Naro Great Tradition transmitted from the Dharmakaya Vajradhara Great Being are not present when the wisdom characteristics of the example and meaning have not become manifest in the upper three empowerments. The current tradition of guiding Shamatha-Vipassana, which is common to the causal Paramita Vehicle, is transmitted from Lord Atisha. The instructions of the Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment were named Mahamudra Coemergent Union by the Venerable Gampopa and Lord Phagmo Drupa for the sake of the degenerate beings who like high and high teachings. Most of the heart-sons of Dagpo follow the practice of first giving empowerment and then teaching the essence of Mahamudra, considering it to be a common tradition of Sutra and Tantra. Secondly, in general, the term Mahamudra is mentioned only in Tantra, and the meaning is union. Because the nature of that mudra pervades all dharmas, it is great, that is, all dharmas cannot go beyond it. At that time, all external appearances are appearance-emptiness union, all internal awareness is awareness-emptiness union, and all feelings of the meeting of appearance and awareness are bliss-emptiness union. The first two are called emptiness endowed with all supreme aspects. The latter is called the great bliss that never changes. Emptiness and great bliss are also indicated by the term Mahamudra, such as: Transcending the nature of the finest particles, possessing the nature of illumination, endowed with all supreme aspects, I prostrate to the Mahamudra. It is also said: Mahamudra is unchanging bliss. Therefore, the complete meaning is emptiness endowed with all aspects, which is made the object of knowledge; understanding all of that as unchanging great bliss, which is made the subject of knowledge; then, the object of knowledge and the subject of knowledge are mixed and become one.
