In short, all these sentient beings, commonly referred to as being contained by the five aggregates, manifest various differences in their abodes, bodies, enjoyments, moments, consciousness, minds, and all actions of conceptual thought, all achieved through the inconceivable power of their respective karmas. These are like the appearance of hairs to someone with impaired vision, and are merely illusory appearances, appearing as duality when in fact there is no duality, all arising from the power of beginningless ignorance and habitual tendencies. Even at the very moment when these appearances are most intense, the basis of these appearances, the mind's own nature of luminosity, remains free from the stains of illusory habitual tendencies. This is what is called the Continuum of the Cause. Through the instructions of the sublime Guru, one becomes accustomed to resting whatever appears, without acceptance or rejection, in the very nature of luminosity. Or, for those who are actually unable to do this, one can visualize these very appearances as the immeasurable palace of the Tathagata, complete with endless adornments, and enjoy objects without obstruction, playing the roles of gods and goddesses. By taking this as a preliminary, one combines these appearances with the wisdom of luminosity, and through continuously familiarizing oneself with this wisdom like a flowing river, one stabilizes this practice. This is what is called the Continuum of the Path. As a result of continuously familiarizing oneself in this way, although one's own mind appears without obstruction in the form of the entirety of the knowable realm, because all the stains of illusion have been exhausted, it will transform into the great self-aware wisdom, free from all obscurations and the very nature of non-dual appearance, which is the nature of union. Although there is not even a trace of thoughts, concepts, or dualistic appearances, in order to completely fulfill the desires of all impartial sentient beings throughout the expanse of space, according to their individual inclinations, thoughts, and faculties, without any omission or delay, and to spontaneously accomplish all activities, this is what is called the Continuum of the Fruit. Second, explaining the means of realization: The Continuum of the Cause severs additions and subtractions through listening and contemplation; the Continuum of the Path is experienced and cultivated through meditation; the Continuum of the Fruit is manifested through the three accumulations. Among these, the Continuum of the Cause refers to severing additions and subtractions through unbiased listening and wisdom arising from contemplation that is free from error, thereby understanding things as they are.

The Tantra of Means refers to not merely understanding the meaning of hearing and thinking, but cultivating it with strong faith and diligence, practicing it in one's own continuum, and relying on it. The Tantra of Result refers to manifesting enlightenment through the complete practice of the three accumulations: merit, wisdom, and discipline. Third, to explain the individual classifications in great detail, there are three: the basis of purification, the continuum of the nature of the cause; the continuum of the path, the basis of purification, the means; and the continuum of the result, the pure manifestation that cannot be taken away. The first part has two points: the view of the great accomplished Zhi-sbyas father and son, and the explanation of the tradition of the learned and accomplished Naropa father and son in particular. The first is: The continuum of cause, essence, nature, luminosity, main; four characteristics complete, names continuum and basis; the basis of all, primordial Buddha, faults and qualities; cause and effect related, in five stages; realize by being unchanging. This means that regarding the continuum of cause, the views of the Tibetan Buddhist schools are often inconsistent, but the general commonalities have already been mentioned above. Here, according to the well-explained tradition of Heruka Zhi-ba sbyas-pa father and son from the time of debate, essence, main, characteristics, names complete, stages, unchanging, also summarizes the continuum of cause. That is, the continuum of cause is divided into seven aspects, the first being essence, which has been transmitted from beginningless time, the luminosity of the nature of mind, as well as mind and mental factors, the nature of vessel and content, channels, winds, bindus, and the sphere of phenomena. The second is main, the luminosity of the nature of mind is the main of these, so it is distinguished separately by its name. The third is its characteristics, having the characteristics that are consistent with the qualities of the result such as fields, bodies, and wisdom, the nature of great bliss, without interruption, obtained by the nature of phenomena, having these four characteristics. The fourth is the classification of names, the continuum of cause, the basis of purification, the basis of all, the primordial Buddha, etc. If divided in more detail, there are fourteen causes: the cause of affliction, the cause of karma, the cause of suffering, that is, afflicted from all aspects, vessel, content, path,
