'gyur. Similarly, since form and other things do not exist, happiness itself cannot become an object. Thus it is said. Because ordinary individuals who are caught in the net of conceptualization cannot learn the completion stage of non-conceptualization from the very beginning. For example, just as one plants a koṭapa to improve a field, and then sows rice seeds on the improved field, one first purifies ordinary conceptualization with the yoga of arising stage with elaboration. After understanding the nature of conceptualization, one enters into meditating on the completion stage of non-elaboration and non-conceptualization, as stated in the Vajra Heart Commentary. In reality, until a stable and special realization of the uncorrected completion stage arises, one must rely on the fabricated arising stage of complete fabrication in order for it to arise. Once it arises, there is no need to deliberately meditate on the fabricated yogas of conceptual arising stages such as Tsampo-pa and others. For example, just as one needs to rely on a boat to cross a river, but once one has reached the other shore, one does not need to rely on the boat. However, one cannot attain supreme accomplishment with only the completion stage that is separate from the arising stage, or only the arising stage that is separate from the completion stage. In order to attain the union of Vajradhara at the time of fruition, one must practice the union of arising and completion stages at the time of the path, not being one-sided towards appearance and emptiness. The arising stage is the method for accomplishing union, and the completion stage is its wisdom, so the two must be meditated on in union. The Lamp for the Path says: "Method without wisdom, wisdom without method, why is it said to be bondage? Therefore, both should not be abandoned." Thus it is said. Then, is it contradictory that once a special completion stage has arisen, the arising stage of conceptualization is not needed? It is not the case that one does not need to deliberately meditate on the arising stage of conceptualization alone at that time, but it is definitely necessary to explain the arising stage in terms of the appearance aspect, such as the illusory mandala of deities. Fifth, the reason for liberation through this is: the meaning of lineage and the excellence of skillful means, and the nature of the three purities, therefore liberation is reasonable. The earlier lamas spoke of three reasons for liberation through meditating on the two stages. The first of these is the meaning of lineage: the three families are mutually enhancing, that is, the cause enhances the effect,

Also, detailed explanations were given to the son. Thus, everything is taught in the secret tantras. At the base stage, there is the inherent lineage, and on the path, there is the lineage of increasing mind. When the fruit is achieved, one becomes the lord of the lineage because both the proximate cause and the accompanying condition are complete, so the fruit manifests. Second is the distinction of skillful means. Like this, because one is skilled in means, the antidote to wrong views is greater. As it says in the Hevajra Tantra: "By discrimination, discriminate discrimination, by existence, eliminate existence. Just as water enters the ear, it is drawn out by other water. Likewise, the discrimination of objects should be purified by various determinations." And it says: "The deeds of unpleasant beings, by what and what are they bound? If with means, then by that very means, one is liberated from the bonds of existence." Therefore, to stop ordinary discrimination, the discrimination of deities is extremely effective. If one has a hostile discrimination towards someone, if one cultivates a friendly discrimination as an antidote, it can be stopped immediately. Meditating on emptiness, etc., is more difficult. By cultivating bliss and emptiness towards ordinary attachment, one can quickly reverse it, but this does not happen with mere emptiness, etc. Because attachment is deliberately generated, one becomes skilled in non-attachment to emptiness, so becoming skilled in non-attachment to naturally arising attachment also occurs simultaneously. Third is the nature of the three purities. The first is a detailed explanation. Among these, there are: the purity of suchness, the purity of individual deities, and the purity of self-awareness. First, at the base stage, all phenomena are pure by being empty of suchness, therefore, in the generation and completion stages, it is reasonable to be liberated by meditating on emptiness, which is meditating on the reality of things. Second, the object of meditation, aggregates, elements, etc., are of the deity lineage, therefore it is reasonable that meditation will make them manifest. Third, it is believed that the gurus and so on appear as body, face, hands, etc., and that is also mind, therefore it is reasonable that it will manifest through the completion stage. Therefore, it is precisely because of these reasons that it is reasonable to be liberated by meditation with and without discrimination. Second is to explain the meaning of meditation in the two stages separately, divided into two: the generation stage and the completion stage. The first is divided into three: how to accomplish the wisdom of the generation stage, examining the generated, the generator, and the object to be purified, and that wisdom.
