It is also called Guru Yoga. Therefore, the essence of the path with the wheel of the path that is modified and examined by conceptualization is the generation stage, and the path with the wheel of yoga that is born together without being newly modified by conceptualization is the completion stage. Some of the former lamas named it from the purification base of Nagarjuna and his sons, that is, the generation stage is birth, the completion stage is death, and these two stages are considered to be the path of purification. Those who liberate the mind name it after the fruit, that is, the generation stage is the common accomplishment, the completion stage is the supreme accomplishment, and these two stages are considered to be the method of accomplishment, although it is said that, it is only considered from the similarity, and it is not related to the meaning of the words, and the meaning of these two is difficult to determine, said the great venerable Jonangpa. Third, the determination of number: The determination of number is the path of progress that is in accordance with birth and death, the two of the fruit of suffering to be abandoned and the seed, the ordinary conceptualization and the great pride of the gods, the yoga of body and mind at the time of the path, and the fruit is determined for the common and supreme. The stages are not combined into one, and there is no need for three or more, but it is determined to be two, as the basis for purification, the stage of birth of sentient beings and the stage of collection of death, the path of yoga that is in accordance with the Dharma of these two, the abandonment is the immediate manifestation of the fruit of suffering of ordinary appearance attachment, and the immediate seed is also abandoned, the abandonment is the abandonment of the conceptualization of attachment to the ordinary and the conceptualization of the great pride of the gods, the six elements of the base time are the body and pleasure appearing as the mind, therefore, at the time of the path, the yoga of the body of the generation stage and the yoga of the mind of the completion stage are needed, and after the completion stage of the fruit is accomplished, the wind mind is only the illusory body and the yoga of the clear light mind, the fruit is determined to be the common and supreme accomplishment, and for the method of accomplishing these, it is determined to be two stages. The latter part of the Guhyasamaja Tantra says: By the distinction of common and supreme, the recitation is divided into two types, the common is the four vajra seats, and the supreme is the six branches. So it is said. Fourth, the order: The order is based on the advantage of the majority, generation and completion, like the fragrance of a flower, depending on

and the dependent. Just as Kota cultivates rice with diligence, having practiced and eliminated conceptual thoughts, one enters non-conceptual thought. When the genuine arises, there is no need for deliberate artifice. Appearance and emptiness are not one-sided; rather, dual union is accomplished. The order of meditating on the two stages, although not entirely fixed due to differences in faculties, is generally such that an ordinary person practicing the path of liberation of unsurpassed yoga first meditates on the generation stage and then the completion stage. As stated in the Five Stages: "Those who are well-established in the generation stage, and desire the completion stage, this method of the complete Buddha is said to be like a ladder." And so on. Many, including Nagarjuna and his sons, have said that one should first stabilize the generation stage and then meditate on the completion stage. The meaning of this is that for those with dull faculties who have not practiced before, just as one ascends a staircase, one must rely on the previous yoga to generate the subsequent yoga. The great accomplished ones Padmasambhava and Mikyö Dorje and others have said that one should meditate on the generation stage in the morning session and the completion stage in the afternoon session. The meaning of this is that for those who are somewhat familiar or have middling faculties, just as one abandons a habit, one must practice the two stages alternately. Some Tibetan lamas believe that one should meditate on the two stages simultaneously from the beginning. The meaning of this is that for those with sharp faculties who are very familiar, just as a bird spreads both wings at the same time when flying, it is permissible to meditate on the two stages in dual union. However, it is unanimously agreed that for those who gradually enter the path of liberation, one must first practice the generation stage and then the completion stage. From the perspective of the support and the supported, the generation stage also comes first. Vajrahṛdaya asked the Bhagavan, saying, "The meaning of great bliss arising simultaneously is the completion stage itself, so what is the use of the generation stage?" The Bhagavan said, "You have neglected the generation stage due to your faith in the completion stage." Thus, the generation and completion stages are said to be the support and the supported, like a flower and its fragrance. As stated in the Two Examinations Tantra: "What happiness is in the unreal body? It is not possible to speak of happiness. By way of pervasion and that which is pervaded, happiness pervades beings. Just as fragrance abides in a flower, who knows the unreality of the flower?
