Suffering and its origin are mutually cause and effect. Therefore, in all cases, the origin is not necessarily the cause, and suffering is not necessarily the result. All suffering arises from the power of impermanence, because things do not remain in their respective states, but change from one state to another, and eventually perish, thus being the source of suffering and frustration. For example, when a seed is fully stimulated by water, fertilizer, temperature, and moisture, it does not remain in the state of a seed, but completely disappears and enters the state of a sprout; it does not remain in the state of a sprout, but completely disappears and fully enters the state of a fruit; it does not remain in the state of a fruit forever, but eventually perishes. All defiled and purified dharmas are empty and selfless. In general, those who believe that things have a maker are taking incompatible causes as causes. This is a reversed perception, which is the gateway to all afflictions and faults. Furthermore, for example, believing that a sprout arises from an impermanent cause is taking a non-cause as a cause, which is a reversed perception. However, views like admitting a maker are not the gateway to the arising of all faults. Because all the happiness and suffering of the world arise from the power of good and evil, doing evil deeds and experiencing the painful results from them, doing good deeds and experiencing the happy results from them, but the maker does not separately create these for sentient beings from their own nature. In general, it is certain that happy and painful results arise from good and evil deeds, but like the permanent, single, and independent self of a person and the maker Ishvara, etc., as believed by outsiders, they never create anything. If that were the case, uncreated actions would be encountered, created actions would be wasted, and the results of actions would be uncertain, etc., and all the acceptance and rejection of cause and effect would be reversed. Therefore, one would be very confused about what to accept and reject, which is a terrible door leading to bad views. Therefore, if one realizes that all dharmas are empty and selfless, but also dependently originate in an unceasing manner like illusions, then one can completely

Who can stop it? In this way, abandoning the view of self, one will attain the state of cessation, Nirvana. However, the happiness of the heavens, etc., is only temporary, fleeting, deceptive, unstable, and meaningless happiness. Only Nirvana is the permanent happiness of liberation, the peace that is not shaken by the waves of afflictions. If divided, there are the Nirvanas of the three vehicles, and there are many differences in the views of the Chinese and Tibetans regarding the ultimate cessation, but the essence will be explained in the context of the result. Therefore, these four seals as the general (sPyi'i) marks of the Buddhist teachings, just as the subjects hold the royal decree of the king and cannot transgress it, those who follow the Buddha Shakyamuni must never waver from these boundaries of views, so think well and generate a definite understanding from the very beginning. Fourth, entering the path of abandoning the two extremes, divided into two parts: the general (sPyi'i) way of abandoning the two extremes, and the detailed (Bye brag) explanation of the tradition of Madhyamaka. The first part is: Thereafter, enter the path of abandoning the two extremes, with the wisdom of knowing the ultimate truth, cutting off the elaboration on the objects of knowledge, which is the tradition of our own school. Therefore, even the realists such as the Vaibhashikas, with their own tenets, through scripture and reason, have abandoned the extremes of permanence and annihilation, but if measured by the tenets of Madhyamaka and the reason of non-elaboration, they still fall into the extremes of addition and subtraction. Wisdom is generally divided into the wisdom of knowing the conventional and the wisdom of knowing the ultimate. The example here is the latter. The latter can also be divided into three types: the Mahayana Mind-Only school believes that all phenomena are only consciousness, the self-empty school believes that all phenomena are free from elaboration, and the other-empty school believes that the nature of non-elaboration is endowed with all qualities. Generally speaking, one's own

All other tenets also boast of being able to prevent the two extremes and proclaim the Middle Way, but in reality, the lower schools cling to things that do not exist as existing, which is the extreme of permanence; while the higher schools deny things that do exist as non-existent, which is the extreme of annihilation. Therefore, in order to proclaim that the Middle Way, which is free from these two extremes, is their own school. Among them, the way in which the Vaibhashika school of our own tradition abandons the extremes of permanence and annihilation is: all conditioned phenomena are momentary and disintegrating, thus abandoning the extreme of permanence; the indivisible atom is truly established, thus abandoning the extreme of annihilation. The Sutrantika school believes that the self-nature of each cause ceases, thus abandoning the extreme of permanence; it can produce a result that is similar to itself, thus abandoning the extreme of annihilation. The Mind-Only school believes that the completely imputed nature does not exist, thus abandoning the extreme of permanence; the dependent nature is truly established, thus abandoning the extreme of annihilation. The Madhyamika school believes that self-nature is free from elaboration, thus abandoning the extreme of permanence; conventional truth is dependent origination, thus abandoning the extreme of annihilation. The Shentong school believes that all conventional other-born dharmas are not established from the beginning, thus abandoning the extreme of permanence; the Sugata-garbha, which is the ultimate self-born and immutable, exists as the inherent nature, thus abandoning the extreme of annihilation. Therefore, those schools' views are partly true and mostly untrue. In order to truly realize the reality free from elaboration, as well as the unconditioned luminosity of the Dharmadhatu, the nature of phenomena is dependent origination. All truth is the view of the Middle Way. As it is said in the "Summary of Views": "In the treatises of the Vaibhashika and Sutrantika, as well as the Yogachara school, there is a little truth and untruth, all truth is the view of the Middle Way." Here, the path of abandoning the two extremes is briefly summarized into two ways: abandoning the two extremes in relation to conduct, and abandoning the two extremes in relation to view. The first is: if one denies all pure dharmas established by worldly valid cognition, one will fall into the extreme of defamation; while the pure dharmas that are temporarily defiled by the cause of illusion and
