Like me, the ascetic practice of acting without anything being unable to be contained. (96a) Just as a lightning strike can destroy anything it falls upon, so too is the ascetic practice of a yogi who, through fierce samadhi, unhinderedly destroys all enemies and obstacles. Just as Vajrapani destroys all those with wrong views, so too is the ascetic practice of a yogi who, by meditating on wrathful deities, undoubtedly destroys all hindrances. Just as a crow can simultaneously guard both its enemy and its prey with its eyes, this is the ascetic practice of skillful means, continuously striving simultaneously in accepting and rejecting these outer and inner commitments. Just as a great elephant enters the water without regard for comfort or discomfort, this is the ascetic practice of a Mahasattva whose view and conduct are endowed with confidence, engaging in actions without duality of abandonment and acceptance, or performing the four enlightened activities without discriminating among sentient beings. Just as a lion dwells alone without companions, this is the ascetic practice of abandoning bad companions whose views and conduct are discordant, dwelling alone in a secluded place (aranaya), and maintaining one's view and meditation. Just as male and female swans accompany each other happily and inseparably, this is the ascetic practice of compassionately leading sentient beings to the happiness of liberation, and accompanying skillful means without separation. Just as an image created by a magician, knowing that the skandhas, dhatus, ayatanas, and the mandalas of the Buddhas are like illusions, thus meditating and teaching is the ascetic practice of skillfully leading (beings). Just as a pig eats everything without distinction of purity or impurity, this is the ascetic practice of partaking of the five sacred substances (five nectars) with equanimity, without distinction of acceptance or rejection. Just as a jackal rejoices in unhindered killing, this is the ascetic practice of skillful means to complete the two accumulations, by means of the compassion cultivated through view and conduct, liberating those with wrong views through contemplation, and establishing their consciousness in a stainless (pure) state. Just as lightning instantly illuminates everything, this is the ascetic practice of striving, by taking the path into experience, to swiftly accomplish one's own benefit and swiftly accomplish the benefit of others. (96b) Just as a vulture (or Garuda) observes discipline, not shying away from killing, the ascetic practice of wild conduct might seem unsuitable for other vehicles, but here, if practiced in the manner of a great being (Mahasattva), it is an ascetic practice that maintains commitments and purifies transgressions. Just as a king, endowed with prudence, settles upon his throne and cherishes his subjects more than himself.

The ascetic, striving through the means of realizing and habituating the great bliss of the inseparability of basic space and wisdom, conquers the royal seat of asceticism, and by realizing that all phenomena are not other than oneself, guides beings, and practices the asceticism where faults are purified in their own place. These are also said to be practiced simultaneously by those of superior intellect for the benefit of oneself, the benefit of others, and the benefit of both. The fifth is: The indestructible one is the lion, The throne of the king of beasts is unshakeable. The meaning of what is said, etc., is the same key point as the twenty excellent samayas mentioned previously. The sixth is: The meaning indicated by Vajra armor, Phurba, the great Hūṃ (ཊྭཱཾ་ / huṃ) and so on: cutting off the life-force of meditation which is sleep, abandoning alcohol, speaking with the symbolic language of secret mantras, and overcoming laziness. The seventh is: The five maras said to continuously obstruct the practice of a yogi are: discursive thoughts, laziness, distractions, harsh speech, and violent anger, which are to be abandoned. The eighth is: These four enemies are to be destroyed: the enemy of view, meditation, and conduct falling into contrived and unrestrained states; the enemy of low view and rough, corrupted conduct; the enemy of the root and branch samayas being corrupted and transgressed; the enemy of measured laziness (procrastination) stealing the results. (97a) The ninth is: The thoroughly purified container world of the Akaniṣṭha realm; the thoroughly purified enjoyments as offerings; the thoroughly purified retinue of the Deva mandala; the thoroughly purified afflictions as the realization of great wisdom. Summarizing these, they are said to fall into two In the General Sutra (Spyi Mdo), it is said: That which is to be guarded and yet without guarding, Is indeed the supreme samaya of dharmata. And it is said: This samaya is wondrous, Because it is not common to all, For all those with little faith, Boundaries of guarding should be upheld. (T3) The third is, [According to the Ati Yoga system]: For Body, Speech, and Mind, there are outer, inner, and secret three, Each divided into three, making twenty-seven, These are the general and very special samayas of Ati. Non-existence, ordinariness, and spontaneously accomplished (Lhundrub) are the single one. In the Ati Dzogchen system, from the general and specific two: (Text cut off here)
