Extensively offer Torma. Recite the deity's mantra, cultivate profound meditation. Protect sentient beings' lives, read Sutra and Tantra scriptures. Reverently venerate the Guru, perform profound self-initiation. Recite the Sugata's hundred-syllable mantra, auspicious Dharani mantra. Recite the Confession of Downfalls six times, perform Vajrasattva visualization and recitation. Practice the Guru Yoga with the three Vajras, and Cultivate spring drop and subtle yoga. Thus. Fire offering, recitation and meditation, Tsok (feast) circle, etc., Should be performed according to the extent of deterioration, transgression, and breakage. Whether subtle or coarse, as long as it has not transgressed the time limit, one should confess. Especially, the general fire offering for purifying sins as specifically taught in all higher and lower tantras, particularly the Vajra Dakini fire offering, one's own deity recitation and meditation, the actual Tsok circle or similar hero's feast, and so forth, these particularly excellent restorative practices, should be increased in number and diligence according to the extent of deterioration, transgression, and breakage. Furthermore, if not remedied by the antidote within the six periods of day and night, it is called a transgression of the time limit; if not ceased within one day, it is a violation; if not ceased within one month, it is a deterioration; if not ceased within one year, it is a transgression of the time limit; if not ceased within two or three years, it is a breakage. Thus, the offense progressively worsens with time. Within this period, if one confesses with sincere diligence, it can be purified; however, if it transgresses beyond three years, it is said to be irredeemable and will certainly lead to rebirth in hell. (91b) Therefore, regarding any downfall, one should endeavor to prevent it from arising in the first place by maintaining mindfulness and awareness. If it does arise, whether subtle or coarse, as long as it has not transgressed the time limit, it can be restored through confession. Vajrasattva and Samaya Vajra recitation and meditation, and Empowerment and self-initiation, are supreme for all. Among the primary methods of confession within the time limit, those that are easy to practice and have immense benefits are the recitation and meditation of Vajrasattva and Samaya Vajra, requesting empowerment, or entering the outer and inner mandalas oneself. These are connected with specific needs and thus are supreme for all, therefore it is repeatedly stated that one should always strive precisely for these. Here, the sequence is also first

Firstly, one confesses faults verbally before the object of reliance (such as a guru or deity). Secondly, one receives self-entry or empowerment. Finally, one strives in the methods of purifying negativities, which is the practice of the great Vajradharas. Higher (transgressions) are restored through self-blessing and view. If a root downfall occurs after receiving special higher empowerments, it cannot be purified by common penalties, confession, etc. Therefore, for the sake of the accumulation of merit, practice the generation stage; for the sake of the accumulation of discipline, practice self-blessing stages such as tummo (phra thig), and cultivate innate wisdom, constantly abiding in the view of the non-conceptualization of the three spheres, thereby restoring (the vows). Moreover, vase empowerment and so forth can be arisen through external conditions of the master, but here, it must arise through the purification of one's own mind. J2. Secondly, the explanation according to the tradition of the Ancient Translation (Nyingma) Secret Mantra has three parts: N1. Presenting the common traditional practice. N2. Distinguishing the particular traditional practices. N3. Mentioning the method of broken vow confession with examples. N1. The first part has two points: T1. Brief presentation. T2. Extensive explanation. T1. The first point is: In the common methods of the Ancient Translation Vehicle, There are general, particular, and exceptional samayas. Within the tradition of the Ancient Translation (Nyingma), among the nine progressively differentiated vehicles, (page 92) the three supreme (vehicles) commonly preserved and widely known are: general, particular, and exceptional samaya, which are taught in texts like the *Yoga General Ablution* and the *Blissful Assemblage of Peaceful Tantra*. The literal meaning of samaya, as "the inviolable Vajra pledge," refers to not transgressing what has been established and to pledges that include commitments, similar to what was mentioned before. From the *Hevajra Tantra*, it states: Do not transgress the supreme samaya, If transgressed, it is broken. Thus, there are also provisions made based on the advantages and disadvantages of upholding or not upholding them. T2. Secondly, [Extensive Explanation]: The general boundaries of vows for Pratimoksha, Bodhisattva, and the three Outer Tantras (Kriya, Carya, Yoga) are common. The root (samayas) are body, speech, mind, and bodhicitta. The branch (samayas) are to be practiced, not abandoned, and to be taken joyfully. Accomplishment and knowable objects each have five, which are their distinguishing features. They are guarded and practiced in relation to direct and indirect meanings, and time. The samayas of accomplishment are twenty or more. These boundaries of vows for both Pratimoksha and Bodhisattva, and the three divisions of Outer Tantras, are common...
