As stated, the Dispeller of Delusion (Trul Pangs) and the Great Jonang Jetsun also taught in the same manner. Some, unnecessarily adding indicative language, explained it as nine. Third, [the twenty-eight subtle transgressions] are: (87b) Fifteen activities and its seven branches. The fifteen downfalls based on accomplishing activities, as extracted by Acarya Virupa, are: Before the deity receiving flower offerings, considering others to be good; Missing the day and night times for one's own deity's generation stage and completion stage; Delighting in external deities, clinging to the generation stage as reality; Imparting empowerment to others without oneself having completed it; Teaching profound meanings for the sake of this life; Disdaining lower trainings and acting hypocritically; Passing time with ineffective actions and meaningless distractions; Not protecting those who can be saved by refuge, delighting in lower conduct; Clinging to material things, not disciplining those who violate samaya; Fifteen practices unrelated to the time of conduct; Relying on holy beings, yet examining what to abandon and adopt for the vessel; For one's own desire, not harming other sentient beings; Not utilizing the property of the Three Jewels, but engaging in others' affairs; Sealing with dedication, skilled in the true meaning of transference; Doubting mantras. (The seven branches are:) Not sequentially teaching the three vehicles, but forcing them into one; Without the ten realities, acting as a guru; Not skilled in examining evil spirits, not examining samaya; Six faults of unconfessed minor transgressions; Summing these up, they become the twenty-eight subtle transgressions. Furthermore, in the tantra of Red and Black Yamantaka (Ghedmar Nag), it states: The yogi-beggar should not wander (seeking gain); Yoga should not be abandoned; Constantly, continually recite secret mantras; Constantly rely on samaya and so forth. Thus, four branch downfalls are also explained. Fourth, [incidentally explaining the samaya of the four empowerments] are: The samayas of the four empowerments and so forth have many classifications. Generally, in most mandalas of the Root Tantra and Explanatory Tantra of Chakrasamvara, the samayas of the four empowerments are individually proclaimed, and various classifications appear in the tantras according to their respective categories. Particularly, in the instructions of the Path and Result (Lam 'Bras Bu Dang Bcas Pa'i Gdam Ngag), the samayas of the four empowerments are individually taught, and each of these has five samayas.

Procedures. The three essential samayas of subsequent conduct. The samaya of consuming the five nectars and pills of the five meats. Guarding the twenty-two root and branch samayas. The inseparable vajra and bell. The samaya of secret empowerment contemplation of channels and winds. The samaya of subsequent conduct of self-arisen wisdom. The samaya of consuming emptiness and clarity. Guarding against all conflicts with self-arisen and wind, the inseparable peaceful or wrathful wind. The samaya of wisdom-wisdom contemplation of the mandala wheel. The subsequent conduct of co-emergent. Consuming bliss. Guarding against the six drippings of bindu. The inseparable actual or wisdom mudra. The fourth empowerment contemplation of the three waves. The subsequent conduct of utterly pure suchness. Consuming great bliss and bliss-emptiness. Guarding against the two obscurations, especially the obscuration of the knowable. The inseparable actual or wisdom mudra of Padmavati. The way to guard these is by generating them correctly in the mind-stream, by recollecting the categories, by generating a single experience, and by generating special devotion to the Guru; thus guarding with these four. If the former is broken, it is said to be a transgression of the samaya that delivers from the suffering of existence. If the latter three are broken, it is said to be a transgression of the samaya that causes long delay in traversing the path. Among others, from the Samputa (Tantra), it is said: The bodies of women and men, manifest various karmic births. Even if ignorant, one should not act thus; this is the samaya of the Vajra Body. With various sufferings of sentient beings, and the thoughts of the net of conceptual elaborations, one should not overly denigrate the mind; this is the samaya of the Vajra Mind. Dissatisfied by the two envies, one should not speak harsh words and so forth. That which is pleasing to the ear, this is the samaya of the Vajra Speech. (88b) Thus it is said. Also, all sentient beings are of the nature of Vajra Body, Speech, and Mind, therefore not disparaging any body of men or women belonging to the six realms is the commitment of the Vajra Body. Not unsettling the minds of oneself and others with conceptual elaborations such as regret, and not causing pain and so forth, is the commitment of the Vajra Mind. Abandoning harsh words and speaking pleasant words to please the mind (original text truncated)
