Thus. \t\t\tDon Grub (Amoghasiddhi) belongs to the Karma (Activity) family. The essence of activity is certainly to make offerings to Buddhas and to work for the benefit of sentient beings. By diligently performing the acts of offering, both of these are accomplished. \t\t\tP2 The second part [explains the fourteen negative aspects]: \t\t\tThe negative aspects are abandoning the Three Jewels and Bodhicitta; \t\t\tReviling gods, mudras, gurus, and treading upon them; \t\t\tEating what should not be eaten, revealing secrets, abandoning, harming, delighting in the Lesser Vehicle; \t\t\tBeing weary of practice, abandoning conduct, and doing what should not be done. \t\t\tThese are primarily from the explanatory tantras of the Five Families. \t\t\tThe trainings mentioned from the perspective of prohibition are: not abandoning the Three Jewels; not abandoning Bodhicitta; not reviling the deities; not reviling the mudras; not despising the guru; not treading upon the guru's vehicles, weapons, hand symbols, etc.; not eating what should not be eaten; not revealing secret wisdom; not abandoning the mudra trainings; not causing harm; not delighting in the Lesser Vehicle; not being weary due to the difficulty in benefiting sentient beings; not abandoning the practice of the six perfections; and not doing what should not be done. These fourteen prohibitions and practices are called the samayas of the Five Families, primarily based on the explanatory tantras. \t\t\tN2 The second part, explaining the two systems primarily based on the root tantras: \t\t\tThe root tantras of the glorious Cakrasamvara system, etc., should be known elsewhere. \t\t\tThe systems taught in the root tantra "Sarvatathagatatattvasamgraha" and the glorious Cakrasamvara, etc., are not elaborated here for fear of excessive writing, therefore it is stated "should be known elsewhere," supplemented by the words of the commentary. \t\t\tFirstly, the samayas of the Five Deities taught in the "Sarvatathagatatattvasamgraha" are: \t\t\tDiligently habituating oneself to the two kinds of Bodhicitta, and earnestly developing them further, this is the samaya of the Tathagata Family. \t\t\tJust as Shravakas view objects of desire as thorns and abandon them, without generating weariness, making Bodhicitta firm; also, being attached by attachment, delight, etc., is the samaya of the Tathagata Family. \t\t\tTowards cruel and difficult-to-tame sentient beings, feigning a wrathful appearance and learning the actions of subjugation, this is the samaya of the Vajra Family. \t\t\tFrom the state of knowing ultimate emptiness, arising in the form of Mahamudra, etc., and thus acting to benefit sentient beings, this is the samaya of the Padma (Lotus) Family.

根本誓言是:舍弃《虚空藏经》(Nam-mkha'i snying-po'i mdo)中所说的十四种菩萨堕(byang-sems kyi pham-pa bcu-bzhi)。

Giving objects, whether many or few, daily as desired, is the samaya (vow) of the Jewel Family. From the perspective of being part of activities for the benefit of others, this is naturally an outcome of the samaya of the Karma Family. Secondly, the ten root downfalls (rtsa ltung bcu) proclaimed in the *Glorious Supreme Primordial* (dPal mchog dang po) are: abandoning the aspiration bodhicitta; abandoning the application bodhicitta; abandoning the bodhicitta that generates the two truths, which is the moon-vajra samadhi; abandoning the expressed scriptures due to deception and distortion; abandoning the explained practice; slandering the Dharma out of ignorance; afflicting the body and mind, which are blessed by the yoga connected with the four mudras, with asceticism; abandoning the vajra and bell of samaya yoga; abandoning the four mudras and remaining in an ordinary state; abandoning the Vajra Master—these are ten. Adding to these, the revelation of secrets to the immature as explained in the *Vajra Origin* (rDo-rje 'byung-ba), makes a total of eleven. Thirdly, explaining other categories based on the explanatory tantras (bshad rgyud), and how they are incidentally obtained. Or, the five families, each summarized generally, The general (vows) are root and branch, in sequence. The fourteen downfalls of bodhicitta, the four root (vows) and alcohol, Holding vows, relying on the sacred, etc., gather virtuous Dharma. The opposite is freedom from the four adversities, the ethical conduct that accomplishes meaning, Not despising, holding the common (vows), these are the latter. Protecting all precepts, having accepted and obtained them, The ten root downfalls, etc., are considered to be obtained through ritual. Furthermore, what is stated in the explanatory tantra *Vajra Peak* (rDo rje rtse mo) as "proclaiming and holding vows" (sdom pa bsgrag bzung) appears as a common bond of vows with Anuttarayoga Tantra. According to its system, there are: the samayas of the five families individually; the general samayas; and the concise proclamation of vows, these are three. Firstly, as explained above. Generally, there are two: root and branch. Their identification will also be applied according to the forthcoming sequence of explanation. The root samaya is: abandoning the fourteen bodhisattva downfalls (byang sems kyi pham pa bcu bzhi) as taught in the *Akashagarbha Sutra* (Nam-mkha'i snying-po'i mdo). The branch samaya consists of three kinds of ethical discipline (tshul-khrims rnam-pa gsum). This is also considered indispensable, at the very least, as the lay practitioner's (dge-bsnyen) precepts during the proclamation. You shall not kill living beings. As it appears, "etc.", the four root (vows) including alcohol. Furthermore, sentient beings
