Thus it is said: \t\t\tFlawless entry, \t\t\tCompletely pure fields, \t\t\tNon-abiding nirvana, \t\t\tAnd showing the supreme path to enlightenment. \t\t\tAs stated, initially, as a sign of the awakening of the Mahayana lineage in suitable individuals, there is evident enthusiasm for compassion, aspiration, patience, and virtuous actions. Such individuals then connect with this Dharma through unwavering faith. The general gate of entry to the teachings is taking refuge, and specifically, the Mahayana gate of entry is preceded by the generation of the mind of supreme enlightenment (bodhicitta). One practices the six perfections, such as generosity, to ripen oneself. Furthermore, one strives with all one's might, through both meditative equipoise and subsequent attainment, to ripen other sentient beings by engaging in the four ways of gathering disciples. Thereby, one’s mind naturally does not stray from the Dharma, and without weariness towards faith, renunciation, meditation, and so forth, enthusiasm spontaneously increases, like a swan entering a lotus lake. At this point, the minor accumulation path is first generated in one’s mental continuum. \t\t\tThereafter, by striving on the path to enter the noble Dharma of flawless meditative absorption and perfectly pure fields: the stage where one gains some clear perception of the meaning of the Four Noble Truths is the accumulation path. Through the combined power of meditating on that (meaning) and accumulating merit, one realizes the five aggregates as illusory, and gradually gains clear perception of the selflessness of phenomena; this is the path of preparation. The path of seeing is when one first directly perceives the meaning of the two selflessnesses as they are. The path of meditation is when one becomes accustomed to the entry point of the special meditative absorption that has been seen. The path of no more learning is when all knowable and abandonable objects (folio 68, side A) are perfectly eliminated. Moreover, understanding primordial wisdom through the path of seeing is simultaneous with newly attaining the first ground (bhumi). Then, by traversing up to the ninth ground through the path of meditation, one enters the tenth ground, the ocean of Dharma clouds (Dharmamegha-bhumi), on the path of no more learning. \t\t\tIn summary, such paths and grounds are accomplished by relying on ultimate bodhicitta, meditating on the wisdom of emptiness as the substantial cause, and with the great compassion of skillful means acting as the cooperative condition, thus the five paths are achieved. By relying on conventional bodhicitta, with the great compassion of skillful means as the substantial cause, and the wisdom of emptiness acting as the cooperative condition, the ten grounds...

is attained. Even in Buddhahood, the ultimate path is the Dharmakāya, and the ultimate bhūmi (ground/stage) is the Rūpakāya. Thus, the fruition of having perfected the bhūmis and paths is: with great wisdom, one does not abide in cyclic existence; with great compassion, one does not abide at the extreme of nirvāṇa. All the qualities of supreme bodhi, which is the Buddha-bhūmi, are spontaneously accomplished. As long as space endures, the enlightened activity of guiding beings in the realm of sentient beings will continue without interruption. This is the chapter expounding the trainings of bodhicitta. This is the commentary on the third chapter expounding the trainings of bodhicitta. Fourth. Section on the General Explanation of the Vidyadhara Vows. Four. This chapter, the fourth section, which expounds the Vidyadhara vows, has two parts: 1. Explanation of the Mantra Vows; 2. Explanation of the General Meaning of the Three Vows. 1. The first part has two sections: 1. Brief Exposition; 2. Extensive Exposition. 1. The first section is: Regarding Vidyadhara vows, there are two traditions: New and Old. Concerning the vows of the secret mantra Vidyādharas, there are two distinct traditions: one widely known as the Later Translations (Sar-ma) and another widely known as the Earlier Translations (Nying-ma). 2. The second part [Extensive Exposition] has two sections: 1. The tradition of the New Mantra Schools; and 2. The tradition of the Nying-ma. 1. The first of these also has two parts: 1. General exposition of the mode of entry; 2. Specific exposition of the actual vows. 1. The first part is: (68b) According to the Later Translation tradition, one enters gradually and simultaneously. In this vehicle of mantra, according to the tradition of the Later Translators, two modes are taught: for those of lesser capacity, a gradual entry; and for those of suitable capacity, a simultaneous entry. The former (gradual entry) is: although directly based on the *Hevajra Tantra*, it is a great bond that implicitly connects to other tantras. From the *Hevajra Tantra* (or *Two Examinations*): First, the purification and restoration should be given. After that, the ten grounds of training. This describes the gradual entry into conduct. Therein, the Vaibhāṣikas are taught. The Sautrāntikas are also like that. After that, the Yogācāra itself. Following that, the Madhyamaka is taught. This describes the gradual entry into views. Having known all the stages of mantra, After that, the Hevajra is taught. This aligns with the method of describing gradual entry into the tantra sections. Earlier translation Vajrakīlaya hatred.
