Diligence unswayed by circumstances, diligence unreversed by conditions, and diligence without arrogance are categorized into five types. The diligence that is insatiable in practicing virtue, never knowing enough, is called unflagging diligence. Concentration (Samatha/Dhyana) has three types: When body and mind are thoroughly purified, and a state of tranquility arises, this is the concentration of abiding happily in this very life. Engaging in samadhi that generates the uncommon qualities of Bodhisattvas alone, such as the common exhaustions, overpowering deliverances, etc., is the concentration for accomplishing qualities. By the power of samadhi (page 64n), subjugating beings through clairvoyance, miraculous powers, etc., this is the concentration focused on the welfare of sentient beings. Wisdom (Prajna) has three types: Expertise in common fields of knowledge is worldly wisdom. Transcendent wisdom has two types: Understanding the Four Noble Truths from the teachings of Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and understanding the two types of selflessness from the Mahayana teachings. Among these, the former is lesser wisdom, and the latter is supreme wisdom. Alternatively: Wisdoms arisen from hearing, contemplation, and meditation. The first is: hearing various scriptures and reasonings, and understanding their meaning. The second is: by distinguishing the four philosophical tenets, the two truths, provisional and definitive meanings, etc., cutting off doubts regarding what is to be known. The third is: by meditating on the meaning of these, realizing reality as it is. All that follows wisdom is also a paramita. Generally, all six paramitas must be practiced endowed with six excellences: The excellent support, which is endowed with Bodhicitta; the excellent object, which engages in all foundations, not just partial aspects like generosity; the excellent purpose, which is applied for the benefit of all sentient beings; the excellent method, which is embraced by the non-conceptual wisdom of the three circles; the excellent dedication, which is dedicated to unsurpassed enlightenment; and the excellent purification, which acts as the direct antidote to the two obscurations. Especially from the Samdhini Sutra, it is said: Innumerable blind ones, without a guide, How can they know the path or enter the city? Without wisdom, like sightless eyes are these five paramitas, Without a guide, they cannot reach enlightenment. As it is thus said: The five paramitas, without non-conceptual wisdom...
