(Two Chariots, referring to the Madhyamaka and Yogacara traditions)的论典, 次要论典如星辰(stars),如回音(echo)般模仿, 应舍弃偏执(partiality),平等(equally)地趣入。

…for that reason. If mere continuity were sufficient to qualify as permanence, then all compounded phenomena would also become permanent. If one thinks that initially it was defiled and later became undefiled, thus it is impermanent, then from the perspective of the Dharmadhatu (ultimate reality), it was not initially defiled, nor did it later become undefiled. The manner of transitioning between defiled and undefiled depends on the individual's mind-stream. Therefore, although sentient beings change temporarily, the Dharmata (reality itself) does not change temporarily. If one considers it illogical that the wisdom of a Buddha exists in the mind-stream of sentient beings, then... (281a) Because the Buddha's wisdom is present in the assembly of sentient beings, this contradicts what has been explicitly taught. It is inappropriate to say that the qualities of a Buddha cannot exist in the mind-stream of sentient beings. For instance, if the power of knowing what is proper and what is improper (or the ten powers, specifically 'the power of knowing what is right and wrong') were present in the mind-stream of sentient beings, then it would follow that sentient beings would know all that is proper and improper. This argument is not valid, because we do not assert that every mind-stream that exists is a Buddha. Furthermore, if it were to follow that Buddhas and their qualities are present in the mind-stream of sentient beings, then when a Buddha is seated on a throne, would the throne also come to know all knowables? Therefore, how can the eight collections of consciousnesses of sentient beings be a Buddha? Moreover, the Buddha dwelling within them does not reside in a conventional, dependent manner, but rather resides in the ultimate nature of Dharmata. Thus it is stated. Third, the exhortation regarding the remaining meaning is as follows: Most Tibetan teachers consider this system (Yogacara) as merely Mind-Only, And they hold the treatises of Maitreya and the brothers Asanga as inferior. The teachings of the Buddha, which adorn the sky like the sun and moon, Are solely the treatises of the Two Chariots. Minor treatises are like echoing stars; One should abandon partiality and enter into them equally. Most of the early and later Tibetan teachers, as well as some ordinary Panditas in India, not only dismissed this system (Yogacara) as a mere Cittamatra (Mind-Only) tenet and excluded it from the ranks of Madhyamaka, but also many who presumed to merely follow the interpretive tradition of those scholars, without truly grasping their intended meaning, (281b) (regarded) the treatises of the venerable Maitreya and the brothers Arya Asanga and Vasubandhu...

"Merely Mind-Only," referring to the venerable Nagarjuna and others, holds great distinctions of superior and inferior, and based on this, endless karma of abandoning the Dharma is accumulated. The sole ornament of the Buddha's teaching, like the sun and moon, exists nowhere other than in the treatises of the two great chariots. In accordance with these, the minor treatises of ordinary pandits, resembling stars, echo like reverberations, diligently engaging in the elaborations of refutation and establishment with numerous apparent scriptural and logical reasons. Abandoning those who, clinging to one side, explain temporarily, leading many, both themselves and others, to the precipice of error, the supreme systems of the two chariots are not mutually contradictory, but primarily abide in the nature of external and internal (appearances and emptiness), and therefore, it is appropriate to engage equally in the stages of hearing, contemplation, and meditation. Thus, Mahapandita Shakya Chogden stated: If there is no system of Asanga's treatises on Alayavijnana, And no explanation of the three emptinesses, How can the basis and means of purification for the great path be explained, And the distinction of the three: external, internal, and other? If this distinction made by the Prasangika and Svatantrika schools, Regarding the nature of non-dual wisdom being empty, is absent, How can one abandon the clinging to profound clear wisdom as truly existent, And the reification of marvelous deities? And also: In this teaching, Madhyamaka is of two types: the ultimate essence of the definite meaning found in the treatises of the Venerable Maitreya, and the ultimate essence of the definite meaning found in the treatises of Nagarjuna. The first is: the non-dual wisdom of perceiver and perceived (page 282, upper part). Where does this appear? In the two Ornaments (Mahayanasutralankara and Madhyantavibhaga), the two Distinctions (Dharmadharmatavibhaga and Madhyantavibhaga), and the Uttaratantra Shastra. The treatise that establishes this view as the Middle Way is the Madhyantavibhaga. The treatise that shows the stages of how to meditate on it is the Dharmadharmatavibhaga. The second is: merely the non-affirming negation that refutes all extremes of elaboration. The treatises where this appears are the Collections of Reasonings, and its appearance in the Collections of Praises is in accordance with Maitreya's Dharma. By what are these established...
