Therefore, the non-veridical discriminating consciousness that appears as various phenomena merely exists conventionally. However, the apprehended aspect and apprehending aspect appearing in it are merely imputed by the mind, and therefore do not exist even conventionally. Thus, even conventional truth is free from the two extremes: by merely asserting the existence of conceptual fabrications (or imagined nature) in the conventional, it is freed from the extreme of annihilation and the extreme of non-existence; by being beyond all imputations of dependent phenomena such as the apprehended and apprehending aspects, it is freed from the extreme of permanence and the extreme of existence. That wisdom of emptiness free from elaborations truly exists in that non-veridical discriminating consciousness in the manner of suchness (Dharmata). In the defiled state, that suchness has that discriminating consciousness as its substratum, with adventitious defilements (278b) that are separable; the defilements to be abandoned exist in the nature of unreality. Therefore, ultimate truth is also said to be free from the two extremes: because emptiness is truly established, and all phenomena comprising both apprehended and apprehending aspects, such as conceptual fabrications (or the imagined), are unreal, it transcends the extremes of existence, non-existence, permanence, and annihilation. The conventional is merely an illusory appearance, empty by nature; Suchness is unchangeable, not empty by nature. Therefore, conventional apprehended and apprehending aspects are merely appearances arising from delusion and have no inherent establishment by their own nature, hence they are empty by their own nature. It is impossible for cognizable objects to be established in a nature other than themselves, as differentiated by self and other. Therefore, it is not non-empty due to being empty in all aspects. That wisdom-suchness, by its own nature, is not empty and exists permanently, because it is established from beginningless time and is unchangeable forever. The imagined (Parikalpita) does not exist, the dependent (Paratantra) exists conventionally; The perfectly established (Parinishpanna) does not exist conventionally, but exists ultimately. If one asks: 'Then, in the sutras, wasn't the Dharmadhatu also taught as empty?' Generally, it is emptiness and empty, but it does not have to be empty by its own nature. Because that wisdom is empty of all elaborations or apprehended-apprehender (duality) which are characterized by other than itself, it is called emptiness. Among these, the three natures are: imagined (Parikalpita), dependent (Paratantra), and perfectly established (Parinishpanna). The imagined (Parikalpita) refers to all non-existent things like space, and the appearing aspects of objects like forms that arise in conceptual thoughts, and clinging to words as their true meaning.

and, the relationship between name and meaning, which is mistakenly identified with the actual meaning; all objects conceptually imputed by the mind as external, internal, periphery, center, large, small, good, bad, direction, time, and so forth. Dependent Nature (gzhan dbang) is merely the consciousness (279a) that appears as apprehended and apprehending objects, because it is an appearance that is under the power of the imprints of ignorance. Perfected Nature (yongs grub) is that which is self-cognizing, self-luminous, and free from all elaborations. Dharmata, Dharmadhatu, Tathata, and ultimate truth are its synonyms. Concerning this, both Dependent Nature and Imagined Nature are equally non-existent in truth, equally illusory appearances, and equally conventional and deceptive. However, their specific characteristics must be differentiated: Imagined Nature does not exist even conventionally, whereas Dependent Nature exists conventionally, and Perfected Nature does not exist conventionally but exists ultimately, thus it is truly existent. These three are nominally existent, substantially existent, unelaboratedly existent. Non-existent, existent, and ultimate emptiness. Characteristic, arising, ultimate non-nature. Regarding these three characteristics, Imagined Nature is existent by imputation, Dependent Nature is substantially existent, and Perfected Nature is not existent in these two ways, but is existent as unelaborated. Similarly, Imagined Nature is the emptiness of non-existence, Dependent Nature is the emptiness of existence, and Perfected Nature is called ultimate emptiness. As the Venerable (Jetsun/Maitreya) said: If one knows the emptiness of non-existence, And likewise the emptiness of existence, And if one knows the emptiness of inherent existence, Then one is said to know emptiness. Thus it was said. Furthermore, Imagined Nature is the non-nature of characteristics, Dependent Nature is the non-nature of arising, and Perfected Nature is the non-nature of ultimate truth. There are three kinds of inherent nature, There are also three kinds of non-inherent nature, Based on these, all phenomena, Are taught to be without inherent existence. Thus it was said. Therefore, all knowable objects are pervaded by emptiness (279b), and the Perfected Nature, in its own aspect, is unconnected with conventional phenomena, having abandoned the three bases of characteristic and the characterized. It is considered to be free from elaboration, permanent, partless, and all-pervading. Other systems align with the Mind-Only school. Therefore, according to this system, all knowable objects.
