All who have not transformed are called 'preparatory downfall' (sbyor ltung); for the insane, there is no downfall. This applies to all. Although there are many subtle distinctions, these are the main ones. 2. The Second Part: [Group of Remaining Offenses] (Lhag ma sde) Ejaculation, touch, lustful words, praising veneration, Acting as go-between, small house, large house, unfounded accusation, Slightly mentioning a basis, causing discord, siding with it, Reproaching, unwelcome advice, the group of remaining offenses. Whatever is engaged in, is regarded as merely a remainder of the vows. Among the thirteen types of Sangha's remaining offenses: the offense of ejaculation is causing semen to be emitted from a part of one's own body, such as by one's own finger, not through the mouth, anus, or urethra of another. The offense of touching or holding is: out of lustful intent, touching the bare skin of a woman (folio 29b). The offense of speaking lustful words is: being aroused by lustful intent, speaking various impure words, such as lustful talk, to a woman (folio 29b). The offense of praising veneration is: out of lustful intent, praising a woman by saying that it would be good to venerate her through sexual intercourse. The offense of acting as a go-between is: by conveying messages three times, causing a man and a woman who were previously not in agreement to engage in sexual intercourse. This applies even if one does not do it directly oneself but causes another to do it, as it is said: Whether oneself or causing others to do, If a woman and a man meet, By the sword of the Sangha's remaining offense, One's own head is cut off. Thus it is said. The offense of a small house is: building a house for one's own benefit on impure ground, exceeding the proper size. The offense of a large house is: due to impure ground and materials, building a large house for the benefit of four or more bhikkhus. The standard for a house is: when standing, the hands do not touch (the ceiling); when lying down, the arms and legs can be stretched and contracted freely; when walking, one can take three steps in each direction; when sitting, the lotus posture is not hindered. Exceeding (the standard) means: longer than eighteen human cubits in length and wider than eleven and a half cubits in width. The offense of unfounded accusation is: slandering another bhikkhu by fabricating accusations, even when there is no 'seen, heard, or suspected' evidence of defeat. Slightly mentioning...

The remaining offense of defamation: defaming another bhikkhu on the basis of a slight foundation for defamation, causing him to fall. The remaining offense of causing schism: engaging in the basis for causing schism in the Sangha, and not heeding the three admonitions from other bhikkhus. The remaining offense of following a schismatic: another bhikkhu assisting (30a) in causing schism in the Sangha, and not heeding the three admonitions. The remaining offense of destroying families: by bad conduct, causing householders to lose faith in the Sangha, and when expelled for this fault, defaming the Sangha who expelled him, and not heeding the admonitions of others. The remaining offense of being difficult to admonish: when one has committed a transgression and is criticized by others, one does not accept it, causing displeasure, and even when others admonish, one does not listen, leading to continued displeasure. These thirteen are called the Sanghadisesa group of offenses, so named because their restoration depends on the Sangha, and only a remnant of the pure ordination remains. Further explanation from the root sutra: Two uncertainties are stated: "Solitude with refuge exists." In solitude without a preceptor (khrims grogs), in a place where there is a refuge that obstructs defilement, when a bhikkhu and a woman dwell together, due to the distinction of whether that place is suitable for unchaste conduct or not, it is uncertain whether that bhikkhu commits a Parajika, Sanghadisesa, or Dukkhata; or whether it is uncertain if it is one of the two, Sanghadisesa or Dukkhata, or even what kind of transgression it will ultimately become. 3. The third [Patayantika group] has two parts: 1. Nissaggiya Patayantika (offenses entailing forfeiture). 2. Patayantika only (offenses of confession). 1. The first part: divided into three decades. 1. The first decade is: Receiving, separating, placing, causing to be washed, taking, requesting. Measure, value, accumulating, urging, excess. Among these, the Nissaggiya Patayantika of holding an extra robe means: keeping an extra robe that has not been consecrated for monastic robes and is longer than an cubit, without having consecrated one's ownership, for more than ten days. The Nissaggiya Patayantika of separating means: being separated from the three robes for more than one day and one night. The Nissaggiya Patayantika of placing (fabric) for a month means: because of not having any of the three robes, keeping fabric as material for monastic robes
