Knowing them to be non-existent inherently, in conventional dependent origination, driven by bodhicitta and with an illusory-like wisdom, one practices extensive virtues such as generosity, abandons non-virtues, without confusing acceptance and rejection, and conducts oneself well, thereby engaging in conventional truth. In ultimate truth, knowing that all phenomena, merely appearing, are empty of their inherent nature, without acceptance or rejection, without refutation or establishment, without abandonment or attainment, one thereby engages in ultimate truth. Thus, engaging through the two truths is a practice that integrates view and conduct, or means and wisdom, or the two accumulations. --- 3. The Precepts to be Guarded: The precepts to be guarded are the Bodhisattva vows. (259v) The precepts to be guarded are the ethical disciplines of the Bodhisattva vows, which are also practiced by being blessed by the great wisdom free from ultimate elaborations and characteristics. --- 4. The View to be Realized: The conventional phenomena to be realized are like the moon in water, appearing though non-existent, and ultimately all elaborations and characteristics are utterly pacified, realizing the two truths without error. The view to be realized by the Madhyamaka school is this: conventionally, all phenomena appear like the moon in water, though they are non-existent; and ultimately, all elaborations and characteristics are utterly pacified, thereby profoundly realizing the actual state of the two truths without error. --- 5. The Result to be Attained: The result is the manifestation of the two peaceful kāyas (bodies). The ultimate result to be attained by each is Nirvāṇa, which is similar across all three yānas. However, the Madhyamaka school does not consider Nirvāṇa to be merely the cessation of afflictions and aggregates, but rather the unerring direct realization of the true nature of pure and impure phenomena, in a manner where all elaborations are utterly pacified. From the Mūlamadhyamakakārikā: No abandonment, no attainment, No cutting off, no permanence, No cessation, no arising; This is called Nirvāṇa. And from the Anupamastava: You have fully known afflictions and Purity as being of a single taste. Indistinguishable from the dharmadhātu, You are utterly pure.

阿阇梨寂天(Śāntipa)将中观师分为两种:主张世俗识(kun rdzob shes pa'i rnam par smra ba)者和主张世俗习气(kun rdzob bag chags su smra ba'i dbu ma pa)者。

transformed. As many such instances occur. Regarding nirvana, according to Mahayana, it is also classified into two: nirvana with remainder (sarvasesha-nirvana) and nirvana without remainder (nirupasesha-nirvana). From the *Suvarṇaprabhāsa Sūtra* (Golden Light Sūtra), it states: The two form bodies (Rūpakāya) are with remainder. The Dharma body (Dharmakāya) is without remainder. As stated, (folio 259b) the Noble Nāgārjuna also taught the gate of entry to the Three Kāyas. That is, when the nirvana of the cessation of elaborations is attained, through the power of the complete perfection of the two accumulations (of merit and wisdom), for one's own benefit the Dharmakāya and for others' benefit the two Form Kāyas become manifest. While being non-conceptual, like a wish-fulfilling jewel, the boundless aims of disciples, both pure and impure, are accomplished. So it is taught. N6. The sixth, detailed classification, has two parts: P1. Brief presentation. P2. Extensive explanation. P1. The first is: Although there are many doors of classification, Madhyamaka (is categorized by) Sūtra and Tantra. Among those who propound the Madhyamaka tenets, some explain the internal divisions in two ways, Indian and Tibetan. Some (scholars) assert three types of Madhyamaka: Sūtrāntika-Madhyamaka, Yogācāra-Madhyamaka, and Lokavyavahāra-Madhyamaka (Madhyamaka that accords with worldly renown). The first (Sūtrāntika-Madhyamaka) holds that conventionally, externally existent objects exist, for example, Bhāviveka and others. The second (Yogācāra-Madhyamaka) holds that conventionally, externally existent objects do not exist, for example, Śāntarakṣita and others. The third (Lokavyavahāra-Madhyamaka) holds that externally existent objects exist merely in dependence on worldly renown, from the perspective of others, for example, Candrakīrti and others. Again, some (scholars), based on the way ultimate truth is asserted, classify (Madhyamaka) into two: those who establish (reality as) like an illusion (Māyopamā-yukti-siddha), and those who propound non-abiding (pratiṣṭhā-rahita-vāda). The first (Māyopamā-yukti-siddha) asserts that phenomena like sprouts and the appearance of non-true (empty) aggregations are ultimately true, for example, Kamalaśīla and others. The latter (Pratiṣṭhā-rahita-vāda) asserts that the complete cutting off of elaborations from appearances (i.e., the absence of any reference point) is ultimately true, for example, Buddhapālita and others. Acarya Śāntipa divided Madhyamikas into two: those who propound conventional consciousness (kun rdzob shes pa'i rnam par smra ba) and those who propound conventional imprints (kun rdzob bag chags su smra ba'i dbu ma pa). Acarya Maitrīpa made a division into two: those who propound non-duality like an illusion (sgyu ma ltar gnyis med du smra ba), and those who propound that all phenomena are utterly non-abiding (chos thams cad rab tu mi gnas par smra ba). The Kashmiri scholar Lakṣmī (folio 260a) explained a division into three: Sūtrāntika-Madhyamaka, Yogācāra-Madhyamaka, and Prajñāpāramitā-Madhyamaka (Madhyamaka of the Mother of Victors), and so on.
