Dependent nature is not clinging to the manifestation of non-dual consciousness-wisdom and the subsequent knowledge of the noble ones. Regarding perfected nature, the unchanging perfected nature is the unconditioned suchness, the reality which is an unnegated non-existence, empty of both the dependent nature (the basis of illusion) and the imagined nature (the illusion). The non-erroneous perfected nature is the self-cognizing consciousness of non-duality, truly established as a substance, after being empty of both subject and object. If it pertains to its retinue, all paths and the objects of those paths are included within this. From the perspective of conventional terms, the imagined nature is the conventional term itself, the dependent nature is the basis of the conventional term, and the perfected nature is the state of being free from conventional terms. From the perspective of engagement with conventional terms, the imagined nature operates as the illusory manifestation of duality, the dependent nature operates as that which is devoid of duality, and the perfected nature operates as suchness. An example for these is like magic: the mantra that creates the illusion and the piece of wood that is the basis of the illusion are like the root consciousness and suchness. From this, the form appearing as an elephant is the dependent nature, the elephant is the imagined nature, and the non-existence of the elephant upon that is the perfected nature, as clearly stated. Third, the engagement: Engaging therein are the three non-retreats and the four abandonments. Those with reverence, through knowing the non-objectification, Abandoning thorough discrimination and seeing the true reality, Engage in perfecting the paths of preparation, seeing, and meditation. Its definition is that there are four ways to engage in order to realize its meaning. Which individuals engage? Those who have accumulated the two collections (merit and wisdom) in Mahayana engage. By what cause does one engage? One engages by means of the three non-retreating minds: the mind to strengthen the roots of virtue and enable all sentient beings to attain Buddhahood, the mind to engage in the perfections, and the mind of non-retreat, thinking "I have no hindrance to anything"; and by means of the four abandonments: abandoning mental engagement with Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, abandoning doubt in the Mahayana, abandoning partisan clinging to phenomena, and abandoning discriminative thoughts; and by those who have reverence for calm abiding and insight. How does one engage? Through the habits of hearing (and reflection), one seeks the distinctions of name, entity, essence, and specific differences, thereby knowing the three natures as non-objectifiable. This is also all...
