This is a complete exposition of the essential instructions for the two counteracting treatments concerning the methods for protecting women from difficult childbirth, associated with rakshasas and their branches. Generally, these, such as the body, are widely known as the eight branches of the treated subject; all major and minor medical treatments purely originate from them. Section 4: [Brief Explanation of the Body in the Later Tantra] is as follows: Diseases and remedies, methods, are summarized in the later [tantra]. The elaborate explanation summarizes these as the diseases of the treated subject, the remedial agents, and the healing methods, as taught in the later Action Tantra as the essence of practice. Specifically, the diseases of the treated subject are elaborately [explained as] one thousand two hundred. In brief, there are four types of diseases: those of imaginary evil spirits, ephemeral apparent phenomena, perfect accomplishment of life, and other-dependent karmic diseases. Each type has one hundred and one, totaling four hundred and four. Among these, the one hundred and one diseases of perfect accomplishment of life are curable and need to be treated. For remedial agents, there are one thousand and two. In brief, these are four: medicine, external therapy, diet, and conduct. For medicine, there are two: pacifying and purgative. For pacifying, there are cooling and warming. For purgative, there are strong and mild—these two. For external therapy, there are mild and harsh (155v)—these two. For diet, there are beneficial and harmful—these two. For conduct, there are strong and gentle—these two. In summary, the remedies are taught as ten. Healing methods, practices: three hundred and sixty. In brief, there are three: diagnostic methods, treatment principles, and therapeutic methods. For the first, there are two: pulse diagnosis and urine diagnosis. For the second, there are nine types of treatment principles. For the third, there are eight categories of pacifying agents: decoction, powder, pill, lda-gu (a paste), medicinal butter, ash medicine, khanda (candy-like medicine), medicinal alcohol. Its counteraction is the preparation of precious jewels. The category of herbal formulations. Purgative preliminary: oil therapy. The five main therapies are purging, vomiting, nasal medication, mild enema, and niruha (strong enema). The counteraction is bloodletting—totaling seven. For external therapy: bloodletting, cauterization, poisonous enema, and anointing. The counteraction is probe therapy, totaling twenty-three. The latter five, such as ash medicine, are included in the five basic categories of pacifying agents, thus summarized into eighteen practical applications. Second, the elaborate explanation of the four modes of healing has two parts: First, a brief explanation. Second, an elaborate explanation. First is: The patient, the body to be healed, and the diseases to be healed. The remedial agents are conduct, diet, medicine, and external therapy.

(Summary:) Healing methods: Abiding without illness, and transformative healing; Healers: With roots and branches complete, all are gathered. As stated above, the essence of the Explanatory Tantra is the great summary of general medical principles; therefore, let us briefly elaborate on it: Regarding the object to be healed: the body for which healing is performed; what is healed are the two types of diseases arising from it; the remedies for healing are the four: conduct, diet, medicine, and therapy; the ways or methods by which the disease is healed by these remedies are twofold: maintaining health for a long time without illness, and healing illnesses when they occur; the healer, the physician, possessed of the four roots and eleven branches, thereby encompasses the entire body of medical science. The second part (155b) has four: 1. That which is to be healed, 2. That which heals, 3. Method of healing, 4. The healer. The first part has two: 1. Body, and 2. Illness. The first (subsection) is: Body: Understand its formation through causes, conditions, and signs; Through analogy and experience, know the bodily constituents, channels, and vital points; The hidden depths of the orifices, the afflicted and the afflicting factors; Distinguish by their characteristics and determine by ominous signs. For the purpose of healing, the body is formed by the three continuums: white (father's essence), red (mother's blood), and consciousness. Understand the manner of formation through the vital essence arising from the umbilical center and uterine channels, along with the signs of birth. By drawing analogies, such as the body being like a fine mansion inhabited by kings, ministers, queens, and subjects, one understands the subtle conditions of the body. The condition of the bodily constituents (the seven essences) in terms of illness, pure and impure substances, and the proper measure of flesh, bone, and so forth. The connection of attachment-craving, which is life, meaning the condition of the channels (nadi). The seven vital points of flesh, fat, bone, marrow, sinew, organs, and channels, which are the condition of the vulnerable vital points. Through the four conditions of external and internal purity and impurity, the pathways of food, and the orifices, the condition of the body is understood. The afflicted elements are the seven bodily constituents and the three impurities. The afflicting faults are wind, bile, and phlegm, along with their fifteen internal subdivisions. Understand the characteristics of the body through its mode of formation, nature, digestive fire, stomach, location, functions, and specific attributes. In general, the three doors (body, speech, mind) act in virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral ways; specifically, the five sense faculties engage with their respective objects, which is the karma of the body. The bases are male, female, eunuch; the ages are old, young, adult; the temperaments are individuals with each of the three faults (wind, bile, phlegm). By differentiating between an un-transformed state and a transformed state of illness, these are completed. Distant and near,
