If left, it will become new again. This occurs seven by seven times. During auspicious times, the entire valley is permeated with the scent of chang. There, in a great lake, resides a large stone statue of Manjushri in a reclining posture, named Jnana Kaya During auspicious occasions, various musical offerings from deities, the fragrance of incense, and at night, numerous butter lamp lights appear for these two, which everyone sees and hears. That stupa, even ordinary individuals commonly perceive it to constantly remain in the sky in a smoke-like form, hence it is known as the "Smoke Stupa." Its form, derived from the design of Jonang Jetsun Rinpoche, was definitively established by Rigdzin Tsewang Norbu according to its proportions. Its symbolic meanings are: The steps symbolize the three stages of taking refuge and the vajra seat, The golden powder, lotus, and base embody the four philosophical schools. The great faces, upper, lower, and middle, with their retinue, Respectively symbolize the mandalas of the glorious supreme mind, speech, and body. The vase, increase of Sugatas, and measuring wheel, Symbolize the four joys, the Dharma wheel, and the thirteen bhumis. The pinnacle is the body of great bliss, and the parasol, Symbolizes the activities of the three pure bodies. The vase-body represents the Dharma and the Sambhogakaya (body of complete enjoyment), The horse-descent also symbolizes the Nirmanakaya (emanation body). The lower great face is the auspicious and slow constellation, The upper two, vase, etc., represent the dharmadhatu and the sovereignty of speech, There are also other explanations that they symbolize mandalas. Therefore, its benefits are far superior to the stupas of the common vehicle and lower tantra traditions, by many distinctions. Furthermore, it is said that in the region where this stupa resides, grains increase, and there is an abundance of fruits, molasses, chang, and other food and drink. In the land of Nepal (བལ་པོའི་ཡུལ་), on Padma Mountain or Glang Ru Mountain, there is a great self-arisen stupa called "Lord Dam Pa." When sentient beings live for seventy thousand years, and the guide, the Dharma King Gtsug Tor Can (གཙུག་ཏོར་ཅན་, Uṣṇīṣa-rāja), appears in the world, this stupa naturally arose from the pistil of a precious lotus heart, having the nature of a dharmadhatu crystal. During the time of Kashyapa Buddha (གསེར་ཐུབ་), Manjushri followed Dharmapala Geshe Nyen... (The text is incomplete)

For the purpose of upholding this, in this stupa, due to the emanation of the Dharmadhatu Speech Empowerment Mandala, the name of the stupa was also formed from this. In the time of Kasyapa Buddha (145b), the accomplished master Shantideva (Zhiwai Pal) covered and concealed it with earth. Later, when our Teacher (Sakyamuni Buddha) appeared in the world, the omniscient Tenpai Nyinjed made its form manifest through new revelations, which is characteristic of earlier histories. The distinctions in its measurements and form were largely unheard of by most of the so-called scholars of the past who were conceited and arrogant, and many such (details) appeared. In the Nyingma tradition, there are stupas of the eight virtuous places, And the measurements and forms, etc., of the nine levels of vehicles are explained. In the Nyingma tantras, although many enumerations of the aforementioned stupas of the eight virtuous places, and the measurements and forms of the stupas for each of the nine successive vehicles from the Bodhisattva conduct empowerments, etc., are explained in various canonical and treasure texts, their root is still subsumed within what was mentioned above. Furthermore, the above classifications, etc., not only appear to be authoritative and the earliest in the "Methods for Erecting the Three Supports: Source of Qualities" composed by Tsamorongpa Sonam Özer, a direct disciple of the Dharma King Phagpa, the Protector of Beings, but also appear to be identical in meaning to the "Methods for Erecting the Stupa of the Eight Great Secret Teachings," and since Taglo Peljor Gyatso's (work) also seems to be based on it, it (the original explanation) is thus mentioned as is. D. The fourth section, explaining the hand implements along with their extended meanings: Vajra, bell, phurba, khatvanga, etc., Their measurements and systematic explanations are clearly stated in texts such as the Kriya Tantras. Among the hand implements that belong to the mind-supports, the principal ones are the vajra and bell. The definition of the bell as explained in the Yoga Explanatory Tantra, the "Summit Tantra," is called the outer bell; while what is explained in the Kalachakra, Samputa, Sambhuta, etc., was termed the inner bell by earlier scholars. Although masters like Gangkhar Dorje Denpa and Khedrup Gelek Palwa extensively elaborated on their systematic explanations, as their respective traditions are more renowned, they are not mentioned here (in detail). Regarding the distinction between these two (outer and inner bells), Tagtsang Lotsawa (146a) said: Whether five-pronged or nine-pronged, the prongs do not emerge from the mouths of makaras but rest upon lotuses; finally, the tips of the prongs do not pierce into the central main prong, but at the end of the central main prong, they are represented by symbols such as lotuses, dharma wheels, etc...
