Destroy. \t\t\tAmong these, there are sixteen major parts and so on. \t\t\tThe measurements and more than half of them, are spoken of in terms of vast scale. \t\t\tEspecially in the oral instructions of the lineage, as long as there is even a little Dharma relic (ringsel) within, everything is intended to become a Dharma-body stupa. Therefore, all types of royal stupas are now being vigorously constructed. Among these, there are stupas containing teeth, hair, fingernail relics, etc., which were built by devotees during the time the Blessed One resided and did not reside, exhibiting many different forms and appearances. \t\t\tPrimarily, \t\t\tTo demonstrate the deeds of the emanated form, \t\t\tThe relics were placed in eight stupas. \t\t\tAs stated in the Sutra on the End of Karma, when demonstrating the principal and special deeds of the Teacher, the people of various regions built stupas and established the tradition of festivals. Thus, as the glorious Nagarjuna, in accordance with common tradition, composed praises and treatises on the stupas of the eight sacred places, these are widely known as the Eight Stupas: \t\t\tFirst, when our Teacher (Sakyamuni Buddha) was born, the Sugata Stupa appeared in Kapilavastu (Kapilavastu), also known as the Stupa of Auspicious Birth. It is round, with lotus petals, four or seven tiers at its base, adorned with lotus petals. \t\t\tSecond, when the Blessed One attained full enlightenment in Rajgir (Rajgir), the Great Bodhi Stupa was built. It is square, with four tiers at its base. \t\t\tThird, when the Blessed One first turned the wheel of Dharma in Varanasi (Varanasi), the famous Stupa of Wisdom or Dharma Wheel Stupa. It is square, with four tiers at its base, and includes niches. The doors are of superior quality with one hundred and eight panels, medium quality with sixty-six, and inferior quality with sixteen. \t\t\tFourth, when the Blessed One displayed miracles in Sravasti, Jetavana (Sravasti, Jetavana), the Stupa of Subduing Heretics, also known as the Stupa of Miracles. It is square, with four tiers at its base, with niches on each side; or this stupa is also round, with four tiers at its base, adorned with lotus petals. \t\t\tFifth, when the Teacher appeared in Vaishali (Vaishali), stayed in Trāyastriṃśa heaven (Trāyastriṃśa heaven) for the rainy season retreat, taught the Dharma to his mother (Maya), and in the morning granted permission for ordination, and in the afternoon returned to Jambudvipa (Jambudvipa), the famous Stupa of the Divine Descent, or the Stupa of the Thirty-Three Gods. It has four or...

Test. On each side, with protrusions, and in the center of the protrusions, there are stairs. The sixth is: In Rajagriha (Rajgir), when Devadatta caused a schism in the monastic community and the two supreme disciples (Shariputra and Maudgalyayana) reconciled it, a stupa known as the Stupa of Reconciliation, or the Stupa of Radiance, or the Stupa of Maitreya's Manifestation was built. It has four tiers, resembling four equally cut square corners. The seventh is: In Vaishali, when the Buddha blessed his life-span for three months, a stupa known as the Stupa of Blessing, or the Stupa of Complete Victory (Namgyal Stupa) was built. It is round, with three tiers. The eighth is: In Kushinagar, when he passed into nirvana, a stupa known as the Nirvana Stupa was built. It has no tiers, with the vase base (bumpa) and above resting directly on the throne pedestal. Generally, there are no fixed measurements or forms for stupas. In the sutras, stupas containing the Buddha's relics are mentioned with specific dimensions and sizes. Furthermore, a stupa can be as small as an amalaka fruit, the umbrella as small as a juniper leaf, and the life-tree (central pole) as small as a needle, as stated in the Stupa-Construction Sutra. This depends on each individual's mental capacity and resources. However, to prevent errors in construction, the practice of using measurements is important. Therefore, most Tibetan scholars refer to the commentary on the “Immaculate Crown-Protrusion” (Ushnisha-Vimala), known as the “Indian Text,” as a reference. Scholars like Buton, Taktsang Lotsawa, and Tulku Thrangkhab Palden Zangpo, among others, composed treatises on measurements. The essence of these works, the measurements by Desi Sangye Gyatso, are now widely used by everyone. Also, in the tradition of Immaculate (Ushnisha-Vimala) (folio 143b), from the auspicious foundation to the finial (tog), it is measured by sixteen major parts. Within this context, up to the small lotus (pedestal), twelve major parts are explicitly taught. Beyond the lion throne, by seeking aesthetic proportions, many traditions have emerged, such as those that speak of measuring by the full span (dpang), half span, or slightly more than half span as measurements. The Eighth Lord, by inferring from the measurements in the Kalachakra Wisdom Chapter, clearly elucidated the especially excellent linear measurements of the eight stupas. This can be seen in the Great Sun Mirror (a text/work). The specific terms needed here are: Base, foundation, three stairs. Drawing base, lion throne, small lotus.
