The dhāraṇī ground, the virtuous foundation of the great steps (or auspicious platforms). Above that, generally, are four tiers (or levels). The vase base, the vase, the measure-vessel base, The supporting lotus, and the garland of light rays. Including the male and female wheels, thirteen in total. The spire (or finial) and the cross (or swastika) of compassion and sutra/dhāraṇī, The umbrella, the rain cover, the half-moon, and the sun, Together with the jewel and the pinnacle. The meaning of the perfect purity of these, as explained from the division of the stupa's parts by Master Śāntigarbha, is: The self-dhāraṇī (or inherent nature) represents the six recollections. The great steps (or auspicious platforms) represent the ten virtues, and the foundation represents the immeasurable. Alternatively, it is also said that these two (the six recollections and the ten virtues, or the auspicious platforms and the foundation) can be reversed (in their symbolic representation). The four tiers, respectively, represent: The four foundations of mindfulness, the four right efforts, The four bases of miraculous power, and the five faculties. The vase support represents the five powers, and the vase itself represents The seven factors of enlightenment, the measure-vessel base represents the noble eightfold path. All these causal dharmas (or phenomena of cause) are perfectly purified. The life-wood (central pillar) represents the conventional truth and the mind of perfections (paramita-mind). The recollection (or knowledge) of the four noble truths, their cessation and non-arising, And the essence of the ten knowledges. The lotus indeed represents skillful means and wisdom. The wheels (or rings) represent the ten powers and three mindfulnesses. The rain cover (umbrella) represents compassion, the pinnacle represents the dharmakāya. This is explained as the very essence of the stupa. All ornaments are the qualities of the Victorious Ones. The stone pillar is endowed with the four fearlessnesses. The steps represent the four unguardeds. The victory banner is victorious over the battle of the four Māras. The garland of flowers blazes with the major and minor marks (of a Buddha). The four victory banners indeed signify the four noble truths. The bell represents the sound of Brahmā's sixty melodious tones. The sun and moon generate the light of wisdom. The mirror is endowed with the four wisdoms. The diadem (crown) attains the sovereignty of the Dharma. The banner is pervaded by the fame of the Dharma. All resultant dharmas are purified. The many doors (or harmika) represent the four noble truths and the eight liberations. Dependent origination and the sixteen aspects of emptiness. By the various emanations of the exceptionally exalted (Buddhas), the welfare of sentient beings is accomplished. The steps represent the Buddhas having come for the benefit of others. The lotus is unstained by the faults of samsara. Being without tiers (or levels) signifies freedom from involvement in existence and from conceptual elaborations. The harmony (or dome) represents the cutting off of the three poisons, And illustrates the eight liberations. Thus it is said. M2. The second [uncommon] part is: The stupa of wisdom, as explained in the uncommon Kālacakra (Tantra), Represents the Buddha in the vajra posture.

Below the navel, From the platforms (steps), the navel bulge (vase-seat) to the shoulders, The vase-body (neck) to the bre (cube) and between the urna, The bre-face and above, the Dharma wheel with the pinnacle. The outer, inner, and other three are perfectly pure and united as one. The uncommon stupa, the Wisdom Stupa, as taught in the Kalachakra (Wheel of Time) system, is described thus: Below the navel of the Buddha, who is seated in vajra posture, are the platforms (steps). The navel bulge is the vase-seat. From there to the shoulders is the vase-body. The throat is the bre (cube). From the nape of the neck to the tip of the nose (the urna between the eyebrows) is the bre-face. From there to the topknot of the hair (ushnisha) are the Dharma wheel, umbrella, and pinnacle. The commonly accepted measure of its height, as held by Tagtsang Lotsawa (Taktsang Lotsawa Sherab Rinchen) and others, is five sections, each 12.5 finger-widths. This corresponds to the purification of the five chakras from the secret place (root chakra) to the crown (crown chakra). According to Belo Tsewang Kunkyab (Abe Lotsawa Tsewang Kunkhyab): The height is fifty finger-widths, and its width is half of that. Four sections of twelve-and-a-half finger-widths correspond to the purification of the outer world from the wind mandala to the formless realm, measuring four hundred thousand yojanas. Similarly, it also corresponds to the purification of the inner vajra body from the soles of the feet to the crown. Furthermore, the purification of the deity's body is incidentally accomplished. In short, the outer, inner, and other three are perfectly pure and united as one. Third, further elaborating on special traditions: Especially the supreme glorious immaculate (stupa), And the great naturally arisen stupa of Nepal (Kathmandu, Swayambhunath/Boudhanath), Its dimensions and form, many self-proclaimed scholars have not heard of. Even more extraordinary than those commonly known, is the stupa called the "Wisdom Form Body" (Sanskrit: Jñānabimbakāya) or "Glorious Immaculate Stupa," which appears in the form of a rainbow in the sky above a place called "Stupa City" in the Konkana region, on the southern coast of India (Noble Land). All beneath where this stupa pervades, Lord Sakya Pandita (Kunga Gyaltsen) stated: "The place called Tsarita, Is located on the southern coast (of India)." It is that very place called Tsarita, as he stated. In that place, Vajravarahi (Dorje Phagmo) is famed for attracting the liquor of the three existences. Each time the blended liquor and grain liquor are prepared, they are greatly extended (multiplied), and when they become depleted (without essence), they are fermented for a short while.
