The essence of Aru (a type of plant, possibly used for paper treatment) is applied in one session. \t\t\tThis also grows best in sandy, loose soil, \t\t\tAnd in black, soft soil. \t\t\tCompared to the thin paper used for writing letters, \t\t\tPaper for volumes (books) will not be very good. \t\t\tFrom different regions arising, \t\t\tVarious types of paper, good and bad, \t\t\tDue to their tradition and method of making, \t\t\tEven if much is elaborated, it is devoid of need. \t\t\tThen, black dirt, hanging threads, etc., \t\t\tWith a white, soft hair-removing stone, \t\t\tRub and grind, making it free of holes or tears (Page 139, verso). \t\t\tIf the paper material is clean, after beating, \t\t\tBy dragging, remove the rough residue of soil and stone. \t\t\tWhite color, holding the essence, is said to be good. \t\t\tAnyway, fresh grain without spoilage, \t\t\tWashed with hot water, finely ground. \t\t\tStirred in water like milk. \t\t\tWhatever foam appears, cut it off and discard. \t\t\tLet it settle a bit, if left for a long time, \t\t\tThere is a risk of it becoming thin/weak. \t\t\tWheat flour is effective for twenty days. \t\t\tOld (flour) has loose glue, so discard it. \t\t\tThe clear liquid is divided into two parts, \t\t\tOne part is cooked until done and poured (on paper). \t\t\tOne part is mixed, without wind, \t\t\tWith hot sun and moisture, \t\t\tPull the paper onto the ground and dry it. \t\t\tAlternatively, to the lightly cooked sizing glue water, \t\t\tMix one-fourth of curdled milk/whey. \t\t\tAfter pulling a bit, apply it. \t\t\tIf it's too hot, the paper will shrink. \t\t\tIf cold, the glue paste becomes loose/weak and stains. \t\t\tOnce thoroughly dry, remove dust. \t\t\tEven if soaked and explained with green (pigment) and sand, \t\t\tThere are some flaws, so it should be dry. \t\t\tPut ten sheets each into water, \t\t\tPlace one wet sheet and press it. \t\t\tIf long, one day; if short, also, \t\t\tLeave it for about the time it takes to prepare tea, \t\t\tPress again, mix again, balance dry and wet. \t\t\tOn a smooth stone like liver, \t\t\tBeat it with a yak horn, free from oil and grime. \t\t\tIf not available, a wooden base or block, \t\t\tEven if beaten smoothly, no flaws will occur. \t\t\tIf the sizing glue is too much, apply sizing glue. \t\t\tIf too little, mastic glue is said to be applied. \t\t\tDry paper is a bit difficult to polish/rub, \t\t\tSlightly moist is easy and good. \t\t\tThe polishing base needs to be stable and not move. \t\t\tA blue conch has many patterns, \t\t\tExcellent ones are gold inlay or Dzi (bead), \t\t\tIf not found, a wild yak horn, \t\t\tDark and oily, that also works.
