Suffixes and three types of declensions, Sandhi transformations and such, changes in form are endless. Those that transform both meaning and form into something else are the twenty types of transformations. By placing the prefix `pra` before `ni`, which has the meaning of 'obtaining', `praṇi` means to lead or to enter the principal. And for the root called `māna`, if it meets the prefix `pra`, it becomes `pramāṇa` (valid cognition, measure). If it meets `anu`, it becomes `anumāna` (inference). Similarly, `upamā` (simile). `pratimā` (image, reflection). `abhimā` (becomes manifest pride) and so forth, there are very many such examples. As for the augment (āgama) suffix, it appears unexpectedly at the beginning, middle, or end, indefinitely. For example, by giving the `sakāra` augment between `aya` (113b) and `kāra`, it becomes `ayaskāra` (iron worker/iron ore), which is like applying to iron; these are modifications of parts. Regarding the transformations of juncture (sandhi): when a root meets a suffix, like `sthā` becoming `tiṣṭha`, `dṛśya` becoming `vaśya`, etc., letters transform into other forms; and only parts (such as `guṇa` and `vṛddhi` vowel changes) are transformed; and Kṛt suffixes like `yu` transforming into `ana`, `vu` transforming into `aka`, etc.; and suffixes after that, like `tṛ` (or `tra`) transforming into `ī` or `yra`, etc.; and among the eighteen types of verbal endings (tiṅ) explained in all declensions, those arising from vowel-less transformations, etc.; and `ṭā` (instrumental singular ending) of `su` etc. nominal endings transforming into `ī` or `na`, or into `veya`, etc. In short, there are three transformations: of letters, suffixes, and declensions. By combining `a` and `a`, it becomes one long `ā`; like `a` and `i` combining to become `e`, `a` and `u` combining to become `o`, etc., through sandhi of vowels and consonants meeting, forms transform into others, and so on, the transformations of the body of sound are endless. Specifically, number-preceding, innumerable, first, etc. The six types of compounds for other meanings and for the meaning of 'of' (genitive). The second transformation relies on compounds, which means by adding nominal endings like `su` etc. to a noun or stem, and then combining two or more nouns that have formed words, this is a compound. And it has six types of divisions: `Karmadhāraya` (possessive/descriptive compound), meaning 'holding the action', because the action is a specific quality to be held, it is a compound with a specific characteristic; `Dvigu` (numerical compound), for example "two cows", where `dvi` (meaning two) is present at the beginning; it is a compound with a preceding number; `Upa kumbha` (Avyayībhāva compound example), like 'near the pot', where the indeclinable becomes the principal referent...

The collection of that which has ceased; Tatpuruṣa: His man. Here, by implying the omission of the sixth case ending between "Tat" and "Puruṣa," it signifies the twenty-one case endings (seven cases times three forms) applied to their respective meanings, representing the first and subsequent types of compounds. Bahuvrīhi: One who has much grain (114a). This does not merely mean "much grain," but indicates the meaning of another object, such as its locus or owner. This is a compound for the meaning of another. Dvandva: Like "two and two," this compound omits the particle "ca" (and) which conveys the intrinsic meaning, representing a compound of intrinsic meaning. All these compounds serve the purpose of unifying multiple meanings into one, combining numerous expressions and many case endings into one, and transforming inconvenient expressions into concise and easy ones. Generally, there are six types. Internally, they are said to become about twenty-eight. Third, the collection of meaning. Its essence gathers into three: name, word, and variation. Knowing sound, one will not be ignorant of the aspect of meaning. If all of these are collected into the essence of sound, then they are gathered into name, word, and variation. In this way, if one properly understands the combination of well-constructed sounds, then let alone words, one will not be ignorant of the aspect of meaning, and thus wisdom will arise, easily comprehending both words and meaning. Second, explaining Pramana (valid cognition) or the science of logic. There are two parts: 1. Connecting by necessary relation; 2. Explaining the actual path of reasoning. First, The pramana that eliminates error concerning objects. The science of Pramana is that which refutes the errors of mistaken apprehension, such as one's mind conceiving of hidden objects in relation to all cognizable objects that are not directly revealed. Here, based on the followers of the two masters of reasoning (Dignaga and Dharmakirti), from among the various traditions of asserting principles, a brief explanation of the well-known summaries of later Pramana scholars will be presented. Second, [the explanation of the actual path of reasoning] has three parts: 1. Extensive explanation of compounds; 2. Collecting them into the eight terms and three loci of logic; 3. Collecting their essence into five modes. First, there are two parts: 1. Brief presentation (114b); 2. Extensive explanation. First, Object and subject, that which cognizes them
