And their particularities; regarding renunciation, there are also numerous differences in magnitude; in the Abhirati (Manifest Joy) realm, gods envy humans, and so on, concerning the particularities of enjoyments; the particularities of the Sumeru-like mountains; some sentient beings are afflicted with defilements (10n), while others possess completely pure bodies and other such particularities in their support. Moreover, (these realms) exist in an inconceivable manner. Chapter 2: The second [realm adorned with the flower of ground and essence] has two parts for detailed explanation: 1. General explanation; 2. Detailed exposition. First: Within a single atom on the palm, world realms; Amidst many world realms submerged in the ocean; The realm adorned with the flower of ground and essence resides. It means: Within a single atom on the palm of Vairochana, the great ocean of omniscient wisdom, is an ocean of world realms, in a place called "the essence of the Tathagata's palm, perfectly abiding." The Teacher himself is also revealed as the great ocean of omniscient wisdom, and such inconceivable manifestations are the sole domain of Bodhisattvas dwelling on the great earth and the Buddhas. It is said that amidst the extremely numerous world realms submerged within that ocean of world realms, the Nirmāṇakāya (emanation body) Buddha Vairochana's realm, this "realm adorned with the flower of ground and essence," resides. Second [Detailed Exposition]: And that, from Akaniṣṭha (Highest Heaven) up to the four continents; World ten million hundred thousand great trichiliocosm; From there upwards, by multiplying by ten times ten kotis (one hundred million); Forming boundless interconnected continua oceans; The realms adorned with the essence flower, each one also; Based on oceans, including their surroundings; Is the training ground of a single supreme Nirmāṇakāya. So, how many such realms adorned with the flower of ground and essence are there? That is, from the wind-mandala (chakravāḍa) up to the Akaniṣṭha heaven at the summit of existence (bhāvāgra), the space encompassing the four continents, Mount Sumeru, and its surroundings, is called a "world realm of the four continents." From there, having passed through an equivalent expanse of empty space, there is one similar world realm (10b). Counting from one to two, when it reaches a thousand (worlds), it constitutes one surrounding.

The first thousand [worlds] encircled by [a boundary]. Compiling these into one, the second thousand [worlds] encircled by a single boundary. The third thousand [worlds] where those thousand [medium chiliocosms] are encircled by a great boundary. This is called one Great Chiliocosm, formed by one billion world-systems of the four continents. Here, although the Abhidharma scholars count up to the Brahma realms, this [text] follows the scriptural traditions of the Lalitavistara and Suvarṇaprabhāsa Sūtras, etc. Then, progressively upwards, by increasing in multiples of ten billion (one trillion) at each stage, the number of world systems can be understood. That is, one hundred million great chiliocosms are inconceivable connecting world systems. One hundred million inconceivable continuum world systems. One hundred million inconceivable ocean world systems. When such a quantity reaches ten billion, it constitutes a single pure land adorned with fundamental flower essence. These also, each relying on a great ocean, are encircled by their respective boundaries, and ultimately, all are encircled by a great boundary. Such a vast expanse is the sphere to be disciplined by a single Supreme Nirmanakaya, but for those of lesser faculties, it is taught to be merely a Great Chiliocosm. Chapter 3: The third [topic, the Sahā world] is specifically divided into two parts: 1. Identification of Sahā; 2. Explanation of its related meaning. 1. The first is: Within its great encircling ocean, in the fragrant water ocean, World systems supported by four jeweled lotuses, The thirteenth of twenty-five stacked layers, Is known as Sahā. That is to say, within the great encircling ocean of that [pure land] adorned with fundamental flower essence, amidst countless fragrant water oceans like dust particles of Buddha fields within the vast ocean sphere, in the charming place called the fragrant water ocean, supported by four great jeweled lotuses, reside twenty-five stacked layers of world systems. These are separated by stacked world systems like minute dust particles of a field in between each. The thirteenth of these is this Great Chiliocosm known as Sahā. The Sanskrit term for 'Sahā' is (སཱ་ཧ་, साहा, Sāhā), meaning 'endowed with', 'patient', 'capable'.
