In Akaniṣṭha, instantaneously free from adventitious defilements, Transcending the three realms, endowed with undifferentiated wisdom, Within the self-manifested, spontaneously accomplished, densely arrayed adornment, In the great ocean of Vairochana's all-illuminating wisdom, In each and every pore, billions of myriad buddha-fields appear. This means: when the nature of the sphere, which is primordially pure, is freed from adventitious defilements, at that very time, the sphere and wisdom are inseparable, and the ground where buddhahood is attained is called Akaniṣṭha. This is not to be understood as a singular, fixed location; rather, it is like the appearance of a dream, manifesting wherever one goes. Moreover, it is not encompassed by the karmic imprints of deluded appearances of sentient beings to be tamed; thus, it utterly transcends the three realms, being a self-manifested, perfectly pure buddha-field and an immeasurable palace of wisdom, without distinctions of direction or categories, endowed with limitless adornments. In that place of densely arrayed adornments, without interruption, all the ornaments, implements, and clouds of offerings for the complete enjoyment that manifest by their own nature are spontaneously accomplished. The enjoyments of all Buddhas, in the form of Vairochana (the All-Illuminating One) (9na), whose wisdom is like a great ocean, even in each and every pore of his body, possess the adornments of billions upon billions of buddha-fields. What need is there to mention others? Countless oceans of buddha-fields are perfected even in a single body; and upon a single atom, fields as numerous as atoms also appear; and in a single body, countless oceans of bodies assemble; and each and every body appears to pervade countless oceans of bodies and fields, thus abiding with great miraculous displays beyond the sphere of ordinary experience. As it is said: Thus, without remainder, in all directions, In a space as tiny as a hair-tip, the measure of the three times, Oceans of Buddhas and oceans of fields, They act and thoroughly enter oceans of kalpas. Thus it is stated. Second, [Specific details elaborated]: The form, measure, and adornment of the abode are inconceivable. This means: among these, first is the particularity of the abode: From the Avataṃsaka Sūtra: Oceans of fields, some called "Stainless Light," reside in the expanse of space. The essence of appearance, those with light, reside perfectly in oceans of jewels. Oceans of fields, without end or center, vast lotus...

Resides in the oceans. Some realms reside in the sphere of the ocean of Buddha's blessings. Accordingly, relying on the four great elements, the karma of sentient beings, the blessings of the Buddhas, and so forth, the modes of dwelling also include various types such as crisscrossed, gathered, and natural. Second, the special characteristics of shape are: Some are round, some are three-sided. Among them, some directions are square. Jewel, lotus, wheel, eight branches, All are depicted by the ocean of karma. And so it is. Third, the extent is: from the world of the Saffron Banner (Ngur Smrig), up to the Splendor of Lotuses (Padmo'i Dpal), these ten worlds, progressively larger by ten times, also have many virtues. Moreover, presently there are vast and unassailable realms like Abhirati and Sukhavati, and also extremely small realms like the thumb-sized realm of Buddha Taraka (Buddha who delights in stars). In the future, the protector Avalokiteshvara's dust-free, perfectly accumulated realm is shown to be immeasurable, and so on, there are many such descriptions. Fourth, the duration is: Some realms are merely one eon. Some are ten eons. Some realms are equal to the number of dust particles. Ten million eons (a koti of eons) are spoken of. As such. Fifth, the special characteristics of ornamentation and arrangement are: With ten million types of realm ornaments, Some realms are thus depicted. The ornaments and styles are varied, Appearing like diverse illusions (or dazzling displays). And so on. Furthermore: In some realms, there are no Buddhas. In some realms, there are Buddhas. In some realms, there is one Buddha. In some realms, there are many Buddhas. This is the special characteristic of Buddhas. In some realms, there is no light. From where one shivers with the terror of darkness, to some realms having divine light, house light, sun and moon light, self-light, tree light, mountain light, jewel light, lamp light, Buddha light, and so forth. In some realms, there is lotus light. There are also those endowed with fragrant water light. Purified by the power of aspiration (vow). This is the special characteristic of light. This threefold (great chiliocosm), divided into many four continents, like Sukhavati (the Land of Bliss), everything is flat like the palm of a hand, whether divided into four continents or not.
