The great body (Mahakaya) abides in the radiant nature of Dharma (Dharmata), just as the five-colored light within a wish-fulfilling jewel (manishel) shines forth due to the sun's rays. This self-manifesting realm outward blazes forth as the luminosity of primordial wisdom, manifesting as immeasurable bodies and pure lands of enjoyment. This is called the semi-manifest enjoyment body (Sambhogakaya). In the palm of the great wisdom ocean of Vairochana (the All-Illuminating One), a lotus stalk grows, and upon its petals and stamens, twenty-five pure lands are stacked. From below his crossed legs, immeasurable streams of fragrant water flow, each containing sixty pure lands. In these pure lands, the Five Jinas (victors) endowed with the five certainties, masters of the ocean-like major and minor marks, perpetually turn the wheel of Dharma and experience immeasurable enjoyments. These arrangements are the fields and bodily manifestations of the great wisdom ocean, serving as the basis for the great Sambhogakaya. Even upon a single atom, pure lands as numerous as the atoms of the boundless ocean reside without hindrance; within one Buddha body, Buddha bodies as boundless as the ocean are contained; and each Buddha body pervades pure lands as boundless as the ocean, and so forth. These are the boundless magical vajra displays, known as the inconceivable secret realm. From the Guhyagarbha Tantra: Just as the three thousand worlds enter a mustard seed, From the Dharmadhatu, mandalas are invoked and offered. This is as stated. The Teacher, possessing seven special qualities, inner, outer, and secret, Adorned with marks and signs, emits light from a perfectly pure mandala. The Teacher, the Sambhogakaya, who reigns over these pure lands, also possesses seven distinctive qualities of natural being: 1. The nature of having matured into suchness (Tathata). 2. The nature of spontaneously accomplishing qualities without effort. 3. The nature of primordial wisdom being without beginning or end (boundless). 4. The nature of having dominion over results, yet its own essence cannot be shown. 5. The nature of realizing equanimity (Samata) yet being beyond all objects of experience. 6. The nature of being liberated from unity and multiplicity. 7. The nature of being inseparable and unattached in the three times (past, present, future). These seven great natures are spontaneously accomplished. However, due to the needs of sentient beings to be tamed, various signs of body, speech, and mind appear, and from these aspects of manifestation, the marks and signs blaze forth. This is also the Teacher's mind...

From the dynamic activity differentiated by the four wisdoms, the outer major and minor marks of perfection appear. From the completely pure aspect of the root chakras, the inner major and minor marks of perfection appear. From the completely pure aspect of the nature (dhātu) of bodhicitta, the secret major and minor marks of perfection appear, all naturally endowed with supreme and excellent adornments. The five unblemished aggregates are the Five Buddha Fathers, the five pure elements are the Five Buddha Mothers. The four sense faculties of eye, ear, nose, tongue become the four inner minds such as earth, water, etc. (83b). The four objects of form, sound, smell, taste become the four goddesses of desire, etc. The four perceptions of seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting become the four outer minds such as Maitreya, etc. The four seasons become the four flower goddesses, etc. The four of touch, toucher, touched, and touch-consciousness become the four wrathful ones. The four views of permanence, annihilation, self, and marks become the four wrathful mothers. Due to the complete purification of their inherent nature, infinite mandalas and retinues appear in the form of a central deity and its retinue. \t\t\tFrom the Guhyagarbha Tantra: \t\t\tThe self-awareness, a center without limits or boundaries, \t\t\tThe four wisdoms emanate in the manner of a wheel. \t\t\tAnd, \t\t\tFrom the Koksung (Inner Meaning Fundamental Tantra): \t\t\tThe ultimate fruition, in Akaniṣṭha heaven, \t\t\tResides as the central deity and its retinue. \t\t\tAs stated, these are also the self-manifestations of the Buddhas, the all-aspecting wisdom, the play of the Net of Magical Illusion, manifesting everywhere as pure lands, universal seats, and so forth. Each sense faculty also performs the functions of all sense faculties, because the dynamic activity of wisdom is unceasing and pervades the boundless dharma-dhatu. \t\t\tFrom the Lion's Perfected Activity: \t\t\tSamantabhadra's face gazes in the ten directions, \t\t\tThe all-seeing Samantabhadra's body has no front or back, \t\t\tHe surveys the ten directions, filling them with his eyes. \t\t\tThat realm of the Buddhas is encompassed only by the mental continuum of the Buddhas; thus, it is also beyond the sphere of activity of the ten bhūmi potentates (Bodhisattvas). The pure manifest aspects of the great primordial clear light of the self-appearing ground manifest as the infinite vessel and essence of the mandala (cosmos and sentient beings), akin to a pure dream, utterly devoid of even the slightest substantial existence of particles. \t\t\tOne should also understand the distinction between the basis of appearance and the aspects of appearance of these two great Sambhogakāyas (Enjoyment Bodies) mentioned previously and subsequently. \t\t\tSecond, concerning the explanation of the Nirmāṇakāya (Emanation Body), there are two parts: 1. General, and 2. Specific. \t\t\tThe first (General) has three: 1. Self-Nature Emanation, 2. Emanation for Taming Beings, and 3. Diverse Emanations.
